Leo felt like the night won’t end. His thoughts roamed around. He was excited but scared about the dungeon raid.
“What if Darwin’s plan fails? Would I be able to unlock the seal to reach my affinity?” Doubts crossed his mind but he was determined to achieve his goal. The stars disappeared and the sun began to rise. Leo did not get an ounce of sleep. “Are those eye bags?” Darwin asked, staring into Leo’s eyes. Leo staggered towards Darwin and pricked a smile. “Little eye bags. Anxiety got the better of me,” he yawned, cleaning his eyes with his palms. Darwin gently tapped Leo. “Don’t worry, you got this,” he motivated, smiling brightly. Leo smirked, cracking his fingers. “Yes, Master Darwin. Let’s go!” he exclaimed, excited. Darwin and Leo began their journey to the dungeon. They make their way out of Heio forest to the deep cluster of dungeons. The excitement was written all over Leo’s face. Darwin knew that he had to do all it takes to help Leo unlock his affinity. “About the dungeon…” Darwin started. Leo looked at him, wandering what he was about to say. “Goblins. We’re dealing with goblins. One of the lowest grade monsters found during a dungeon raid. I’m sure with the progress, your mana will begin to sip through your sealed orb, releasing your affinity,” he completed. “Hmm, goblins you say…” Leo swayed, trying to understand. “But wait, what do you mean by lower ranks?” he asked. Darwin sighed. Varrick and him had forgotten to give Leo a break down on how dungeon monsters work, which might pose as a difficulty to him as time pass. “There are four grades of dungeon monsters that you face during dungeon raids. The first grade is the minor-grade which includes monsters like slimes, caterpillars and bugs. Then, the second grade is the lower-grade which includes monsters like goblins, stray wolves and mutated lizards. For the third grade, it is the mid-grade which includes monsters like dragons and armonites. The last grade, that is the fourth grade is the higher-grade which includes only one monster- demons,” Darwin explained as he sharpened his knife. “Armonites…what are armonites?” Leo asked. “Well, they are ghost knights, covered in armors. They are really difficult to defeat because they don’t have physical bodies but they can be defeated,” Darwin explained. Suddenly, the little cart which they entered, stopped right in front of the dungeon. “We’re here,” Darwin said, halting the horses, who drew the cart. Leo stared into the dungeon. He could sense an evil aura around it. The clouds were darker than usual and unusually thick. “Where have I felt this before?” he murmured, coming down from the cart. “You’re sensing it too, right?” Darwin questioned, glaring at Leo with his hand gripped on his sword. “Really malicious and dangerous. But maybe it’s an after effect of the people who had already been here before us,” Leo spoke, trying to understand the aura which they could feel. Leo took a step into the dungeon as he held a fire touch that Darwin had turned on. “Yes, maybe,” Darwin replied. Leo gulped really hard as he and Darwin slowly walked into the dungeon. “Ingnito Luminous,” said Darwin, stretching his hand out to the goblin that popped out from nowhere and burning it into crips. “Nice save, Master Darwin,” Leo praised. As they walked further into the dungeon, a large group of goblins got attracted by the light. “Here they come,” Darwin screamed. “Suspendic Asper-” Darwin was about to launch another attack but suddenly, all the goblins disappeared. Leo and Darwin looked at themselves, confused. The dungeon became airy. The fire touch went off and there was a hissing sound in the air. “What’s happening?” Leo questioned, scared. “DON’T MOVE,” Darwin screamed, jumping in front of Leo as he stopped an attack with his sword. “Are goblins this strong? Or is it just mutated?” Leo asked, drawing out his little sword. “There is no such thing as a mutated goblin and no, goblins are not this strong. There is something else in here. Maybe it is-” “-the malicious aura we felt. They are still here,” Leo interrupted, putting on a serious face. They did not know what was out there. They were being cautious because the aura was not only malicious but also intimidating. “Well, well, well… Look who we have here. We’ve finally found you. The one born of the dragon king,” a mysterious voice said as a figure walked out from the shadow. “Who are you?” asked Leo. “You have really grown, haven’t you? From the last time I saw you. That was four or was it five months ago,” the man giggled as he walked towards them. Three other men walked behind him, dressed in black cloaks. Their faces where hidden but they had a strangely familiar aura around them. Nostalgia. Waves of the memories that Leo had been trying his best to forget, came flooding in. His mother. “You killed my mother,” Leo snared. Darwin was confused. The person who had killed Abigail was right in front of him. “Oh, you finally remember. Isn’t this a nice reunion?” asked the man. “FUCK OFF!” screamed Darwin as he charged into the man. “Leminta: Orb of Fire,” he said, releasing a spherical blue flame which filled his palm. “Larca: Watery planet,” the man said, releasing a counterattack shaped as a water ball. The attack force was greater than that of Darwin, which sent Darwin to the ground. “Darw-” Leo said but was interrupted. “Don’t be too ahead of yourself minor,” one of the guys in a black cloak said, launching an attack towards Leo. As the attack reached Leo, he brushed it off. “You will pay for killing my mother. YOU WILL PAY!” he groaned. He grinned his teeth as an airy aura flared from his body.Related Chapters

Leo was aggravated. The sight of the people who killed his mom, made his blood boil. “…YOU WILL PAY!” he exclaimed. A cold, airy aura started flaring from his body. His eyes turned red and he began to growl. “What’s going on?” one of them asked. “Lando: Wind blade,” he said, as a gust of wind in form of a sword was directed towards Leo. Leo skipped through the attack, suddenly appearing in front of the man. “Spa-” “Too slow,” Leo interrupted, stabbing him in his left abdomen. “They did not tell us he was this strong,” said another of the men, as he moved backwards. Leo’s attention shifted towards them. He shuffled quickly, reappearing in front of the second man. “Flare: Gunshot,” Leo released a spike of fire from the tip of his sword, which passed through the chest of the second man. Leo unconsciously brought down two men in an instant. The anger within him made his mana sip out of his sealed orb. “LEO!” Darwin screamed. “Back to earth, Leo.” Darwin’s attention was all o
Leo The Dragon Heir Chapter 14: Recovery
Darwin was bedridden for 3 days while Leo took care of him. “When will you wake up?” Leo murmured as he sat on a chair facing Darwin, staring at him. Leo sighed, as he made an attempt to stand up. “And where do you think you’re going?” Darwin spoke, his voice chopped. Leo’s eyes began to tear up. He was filled with joy but at the same time, relief. “I thought that you won’t wake up,” he said, drawing his nose. Darwin chuckled. “What do you take me for? I’ve gone through worse,” he said, sitting up right on the bed. The towel fell from his face and Leo placed it in a bucket. “I know but still. I won’t be able to live knowing that a lot of people have died protecting me,” he said. “You don’t have to feel that way,” Darwin replied. “Something this small can’t kill me.” Leo smiled warmly, as he stared at Darwin. “What’s taking so lo-” Varrick said, but he took a pause after seeing Darwin awake. “I can see that you’re finally awake, after taking a very lon

“Scarlet Margic High School, let’s enroll him there,”Varrick suggested. Darwin kept shut, before he began to giggle. “You’re joking right?” he asked. “I mean, you are not serious, right?” Varrick glared at Darwin. “It’s the safest palce to keep him and at the same time train him. He can also be able to get comrades who will assist him and support him in his journey,” he insisted. Darwin was not convinced. He did not want to get Leo out of his sight, mainly as a tribute to Abigail. “We can’t take him there. It’s not a place for someone like him that has an unknown background,” Darwin replied. “Don’t get too ahead of yourself, let’s leave him with us here, at Heio forest.” “DARWIN-” “VARRICK?” he interrupted. “You know I’m not wrong.” “But, he is also not safe here. He can also be traced and captured here. Let’s just take him to the high school, after all its an academy for learning magic. It’s better than us teaching him,” Varrick said. “No, he remains here. That’s final,” Da
Leo The Dragon Heir CHAPTER 16: Moving to Ivandale
As Varrick and Leo walked out of Darwin’s room, Varrick glared at Leo. “Do you truly want to move to IVANDALE? Anyone could see through your deceitful smile,” said Varrick. Leo stopped walking and he glimpsed at Varrick before looking at the ground. “Your silence says it all, Leo. Look, you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Varrick spoke, his voice serene. Leo took a deep breath and flashed a smile at Varrick. “At first, I thought about the death of my mother. Going back there might bring memories that I would like to forget but then, I have to face my pain. I am willing to do whatever it takes to reach the top and get revenge for my mother,” Leo replied. Varrick was pleased to hear what Leo had said. “That’s the spirit, young lad,” Varrick said, patting him on his back. After the talk with Varrick, Leo went up to his room to gear up. He went in search of Varrick and that’s what made him eavesdrop on Varrick's conversation with Darwin. “Scarlet Magical High School,
Leo The Dragon Heir CHAPTER 17: Twelve Chaotic Dragons
After hearing Darwin scream, Leo paused. He slowly turned to face Darwin. “I-I was not-not actually going to run away. I forgot something in the forest,” he stuttered, trying to make an excuse. “Oh really,” Darwin said, as he suddenly appeared in front Leo. Leo gulped hard as he faced Darwin. “I’m so…sorry,” Leo stammered. Darwin sighed, brushing his hand against his hair. “Don’t do it again. You know there are a lot of people who are looking for you. Now, you see the reason why I cannot allow you move to Ivandale,” Darwin spoke, his anger subsiding. “It was just a one-time mistake. It won’t repeat itself again, I promise,” Leo pleaded. “You were partially at fault too, Darwin. You did not warn him,” Varrick defended. Leo nodded in agreement as he continued to glare at Darwin. Darwin looked away and did not mutter a word. He walked up to the front door and closed it behind him. “Will he be fine?” Leo asked, worried about what was going through Darwin’s head. Varrick did not

“…then he walked right out and started laughing,” Leo explained, leaving both Darwin and Varrick in laughter. Leo described the dream he had when he was a kid, as they travelled down to Ivandale. “Leo, it’s time we tell you about Scarlet Magic High School and how we got into it, although our backgrounds were not well known,” said Varrick, as he pulled out a mini pocket sac of water and took a sip. “I was going to ask but I forgot. Please, tell me,” Leo requested, as he stared at Varrick. “Abigail, Darwin and I are childhood friends. We grew up together, and we trained together but Abigail’s magical affinity surpassed ours, making her the strongest among us three,” Varrick spoke. “I was a little bit stronger, though,” Darwin raised his voice, speaking from the front of the cart, where he sat and he controlled the horses. Upon hearing what Darwin said, Varrick began to laugh. “Only in your wildest imagination. Remember when she flung you across the class when you asked her o-” “
Leo The Dragon Heir Chapter 19: Leo's resolve
Leo stared at Sydney after he introduced himself. He wandered who she was to Darwin and Varrick. Syndey casually let go of Varrick and Darwin and walked up to Leo, and held him by his cheeks. “You’re such a good boy, where are you from?” she asked, rubbing his cheeks with her palms. Leo tried to reply but he could not because his fondled cheeks was a nuisance. “Let him be,” Varrick said, removing Sydney’s hands from Leo’s cheeks. “I’m sorry,” Sydney chuckled, taking a step back from Leo. Leo let out a great sigh of relief and he glared at Sydney, as he held his cheeks which had turned red. Sydney looked at him with a smile, giving off an innocent aura, which made his annoyance subside. “He’s a child we found in the woods, and we adopted him and took him as our student,” Darwin said, heading towards the couch to take a seat. He sat on the comfortable couch and let out a sound of relief. “This is it,” he said, his mouth widening from side to side. Sydney could not believe wh
Leo The Dragon Heir CHAPTER 20: TESTING RESOLVE
“Now that this is solved, Syndey please help him,” Varrick pleaded as he walked shoulder to shoulder with her. Sydney let out a loud sigh and halted. “Hey, Leo boy, follow me,” she said as she slightly glimpsed at him. Leo gazed at Darwin, who folded his arms, and he nodded positively. Leo hastily walked towards Sydney and followed her. “I really hope they will be fine,” Varrick thought to himself as he watched them walk away. As Sydney and Leo walked together, Leo hummed a song. “Where do you know that song from?” Sydney asked, realizing that it was Abigail’s favorite song. “SHOOT!” Leo thought. “She can’t know I’m Abigail’s son or else Master Varrick and Master Darwin would kill me before any other person.” “Well, my two masters normally sing it. That’s how I know it,” he replied to her, flashing a sarcastic smile. “Alright then. Moving on, what’s your magical affinity?” she questioned, as they walked into an underground garden. “Woah!” Leo exclaimed. The globe ceiling, w

CHAPTER 89: LEAVE
"The principal went to see her. They probably think she's the one who did that to the field," Leo muttered, constantly pacing right outside the principal's office. Jason and Anaya gave each other meaningful glances, visibly trying to piece everything together. After Sylvia had fainted in front of them, they quickly rushed her to the school nurse. The school principal had gone in moments later, sweating profusely, with his eyes widened in shock. "Well, isn’t she?" Anaya asked sternly. "Of course not," Leo snapped, he never wasted any time when it came to defending Sylvia. Anaya swept her hands through her hair, her annoyance growing by the minute as she spoke. "My goodness, open your eyes, Leo. The evidence is overwhelming. Sylvia hasn’t been in school in days. I didn’t even see her at the gathering—did you?" she said, pointing at Jason. Jason tilted his head thoughtfully before slowly shaking his head. "Exactly. And then, the minute she shows up, she’s bruised and battered at
CHAPTER 88: A MESSAGE
The club festivities faded and the real party began in the school. They made their way into the school auditorium and noticed all that had been laid out. Music, amazing snacks, even a huge disco ball—the very best Scarlet Magic High School had to offer, and yet somehow someone didn't seem to like it. "This party is lame," Sebastian sighed, swirling his drink with a straw. "Not as lame as the ones royals throw," Leo remarked. Sebastian's eyes widened, his shock noticeable in his expression. He quickly turned to Jason, looking for some kind of validation. Royal gatherings had always been the talk of the kingdom; people who had the luxury of being in attendance just couldn't stop talking about it. Jason noticed Sebastian's gaze and slowly replied, "You'd be surprised." "That can't be true. Have you been to one, Anaya?" Sebastian asked, hoping she'd give him the answer he had been believing all his life. However, Anaya hadn't said a word for a long time. "Anaya? W..." Sebastia
CHAPTER 87: YOU SLY CREATURE
They turned heads everywhere they went, although the boys were almost certain that was Anaya's doing. The field was filled with various activities: chess, Pegasus riding, flame throwing, and much, much more. "So basically, all we need to do is choose a club," Jason said. "Mhmm, then the after party," Sebastian added excitedly. "Crazy..." Leo murmured when a centaur casually sashayed right by him. "Come on, let's check that out," Anaya said eagerly, dragging them toward the archery section. The person in charge of the spot had just released his bow, landing his arrow in a perfect bullseye. He turned to them, flashing his pearly white teeth, and said, "Impressive, isn't it?" Anaya scoffed at his words and rolled her eyes. "Anaya," Chris greeted with a deep grin. "Chris," Anaya replied flatly. "Leo, Jason, and Sebastian. Glad we're all caught up," Leo joked. Anaya rolled her eyes and smiled before turning to Sebastian. "This looks fun. Do you want to give it a shot?"
CHAPTER 86: LEPRECHAUNS DON'T DRESS LIKE THAT
Anaya assured Sebastian that they would definitely be in attendance, shocking both Leo and Jason. After hearing her assurance, Sebastian left for his classes, skipping happily. Jason looked at the flyer carefully and stared at Anaya with a raised brow. "You want to join a club?" Jason asked, passing the flyer to Leo. "Of course not," Anaya replied rather quickly. "Then why do you want us to go, especially when we have so much to d—" Anaya placed her index finger on Leo's lips and interjected, "Shh... enough with the book talk. I'm starting to think you both like this more than I do. Come to school tomorrow in your finest costumes, and don't even think of blowing me off." "Should we dress to match? Like one of us will be bread, one will be peanut butter, and the other will be jam?" Jason said excitedly, beginning to like the idea. "Hold on—who's the jam?" Anaya asked, her eyes widening in expectation. "And who's the bread?" Leo added, wrinkling his nose. He never seemed
CHAPTER 85: A DISTRACTION...
Anaya walked over to them after her long conversation with one of the classmates. This was the longest she had spoken to anyone other than Jason and Leo since she stepped foot into the school. She was still laughing heartily as she said, "You guys are not going to believe what happened to Mr. Fickletie Berry..." Her laughter slowly faded once she saw how drained they looked. "What happened to you two?" she asked, worry etched on her face. However, she received no reply, only aggrieved sighs. Anaya's frown deepened as she felt she was being given the silent treatment. "Look, are you guys still upset about the prank thing? I said I was sorry." "No, we're not upset, honest," Jason assured, waving his hands frantically. Anaya slowly nodded and replied, "Okay, good... But then, why do you both look like you're about to jump me?" Leo chuckled slightly at her comment, and Jason responded, without a sigh, "My dad made us scrub the ballroom floor when he found out that we were not in
CHAPTER 84: TRUST...
"Where have you two been?" Sydney asked again. The boys looked at each other in panic, both wondering if one of them had a reasonable and, most importantly, a believable answer. "Uhh..." they hummed simultaneously, a distressed smile forming on their faces. Sydney suddenly walked toward them abruptly. They closed their eyes, mentally preparing for a huge scolding, but instead, they felt the warmth of her arms wrap around them tightly. A sigh escaped her lips before she exhaled in one breath, "Do you know how worried we were? Alex had to send the guards out to look for you." "Look for us?" Leo asked, a little astonished. "Of course! And he didn't even send ordinary guards..." Sydney paused and looked around. The boys raised a brow at her odd movements but didn't think much of it. She leaned closer to them and whispered, "He sent the Red Claws." "What?!" Jason exclaimed in a similar hushed tone. "Who are the Red Claws?" Leo inquired, almost cluelessly. "I'll tell you later," Jason
CHAPTER 83: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?
"I’m so confused," Jason said immediately. "Why is the woman who gave us our uniforms here?" Leo asked, his words also laced with confusion. "Because she knows us," Anaya replied vaguely. "Of course she knows us; she gave us our uniforms," Leo said indifferently. Anaya let out a sigh and, after a moment of silence, said, "Okay, I guess we’re starting from the very beginning. Miss Tremont had been sneaking around us an awful lot; it was hard not to notice. So every time I would see her lurking, I’d follow her to see what she was up to. One day, I found her going into a secret room. Curiosity got the better of me, so I followed her—" "Are you serious?" Leo interrupted immediately, worry etched on their faces. "You could have been attacked or worse—" "Will you boys just let me finish?" Anaya snapped abruptly, cutting them off. The room fell silent once more, and Anaya took a deep breath, dusted the hem of her shirt, and continued. "Thank you... As I was saying, when I came in, I wa
CHAPTER 82: I KNOW WHAT I SAW
Jason furrowed his brows and remembered that this was the same place Anaya kept disappearing to. "You do know that we could be walking into a trap, right?" Jason said, taking a deep breath. With the number of enemies they were accumulating, it wasn’t far-fetched to think that the letter might not have been written by Anaya. Leo scoffed, rummaging through his bag. "That's why I brought our wands, genius," he said, waving the wands in front of Jason’s face. Jason shook his head at his childish behavior, not wanting to remind his friend that they barely knew how to use them. He looked at the locker and tapped it softly three times, exactly. They waited for a while, but nothing happened. Jason decided to try again, but it was the same result. "You’re not doing it right," Leo said plainly, causing Jason’s brow to furrow in annoyance. "What do you mean? That’s three solid taps right there!" Jason responded immediately. "You’re supposed to do it slowly." "I did!" Jason replied, his ag
CHAPTER 81: LOCKER 3B
"I can't believe Derek is on the team... OUR team. Pinch me, I must be dreaming," Jason said, clearly bummed out by what had just taken place. "Unfortunately, you're not dreaming, my friend. But how could he have gotten a spot? I thought tryouts were supposed to end before the first game," Leo said, clearly stating the obvious. "It's so unfair," Jason muttered sadly. They walked over to their next class, already freshened up but still saddened by their current ordeal. Coincidentally, they ran into Anaya in the hallway. Anaya took one look at them and knew that something wasn't right. "Explain," she said plainly, clearly not in the mood for any dilly-dallying. "Derek is on the school's rugby team now," Leo said immediately. "He is going to be playing with us all season," Jason added. "Isn't tryouts supposed to be over already?" Leo asked. One could tell that they were clearly tired of always having to deal with Derek and his intrusive behavior. Anaya chuckled slightly, catching
