Varrick, Darwin, Sydney, Leo and Jason were all surprised by Alex’s big news about a dinner party, which they had to prepare for in less than an hour.

“I have prepared some clothing and shoes for everyone, it’s been placed in your rooms,” Alex said. “See you all in an hour and I’m sorry.”

“Why are you talking from so far away?” Varrick asked as Alex stood on the stairs to talk to them.

“To avoid any other form of attack,” Alex responded as he walked upstairs. “Later.”

Darwin sighed.

“Let’s all go and prepare,” he said as he also walked away.

An hour passed and everyone had finished getting ready. Leo walked up to the window in his room. He lifted the curtain that falls from the ceiling to the ground, and he peeped to see the guests, who flooded into the Maho Hall.

“This will be my first time appearing in front of a very large crowd,” he said to himself as he held his chest.

His heart was racing. He was dead anxious. What if he messes up?

Suddenly, he heard a knock on his

As they all walked into the lavishly decorated hall, the crowd stared at them. The spotlight shined right on top of them.“Welcome, Sorcerers of Aranthia and other mythical creatures from near and far,” Alex said as he walked through the crowd. The spotlight shifted towards him and immediately, everyone bowed.“Long live King Alex II, the great king of Ivandale,” they chanted.Leo was surprised as to how they greeted Alex. He had gotten too familiar with him that he forgot that Alex was the King. “Bow down, fool,” Varrick said, as he forcefully used his hand and brought down Leo’s head. “He is our King and we must respect him, even though he is also a fool.” Leo chuckled. “Shh, can you just be quiet?” Darwin said. “Harsh, just like your wif-” “Huh?” Sydney said, as she turned and looked at Varrick with piercing eyes. “Nothing,” Varrick spoke, as he gulped hard. After a few seconds, everyone stood upright. “Firstly, I want to thank you all for making it here, amidst you

“The red-haired lady, who was in the dark alley earlier today. SYLVIA,” Leo thought, as his eyes met with that of Sylvia’s. “Why are you staring at her so much,” Sydney asked, but Leo was too caught up in staring at Sylvia that he did not hear her. “Hey. Leo. Back to Ivandale.” “Oh, sorry. What did you say?” Leo replied as he gazed at Sydney. “Just…. Just focus,” she replied. As they approached Darwin, the crowd soared. Darwin, Sydney and Leo stood side by side but Leo could not take his eyes of Sylvia. “Who is she?” he thought. “She must be a very important person to be here today.” “This is the family of the Anthemic,” Felix said. “I hope you all accept them and treat them with the respect they deserve.” The applause grew louder as Darwin and his “pretend” family, made their way back to where they originally stood. “I would also like to formally introduce my daughter, who has been far away for a long time but is back. Her name is Rutherford Sylvia,” Felix spoke as he brought

“You can go first,” Leo said to Sylvia. Sylvia looked up to him and flashed a smile at him. “Uhm, okay then.” she replied. “I did not think I would bump into you here.” “I also did not think I would bump into you here. Not in my wildest imagination,” Leo said as he smiled from ear to ear. As Sylvia saw Leo’s smile, her heart began to throb. She quickly bent her face to the ground, embarrassed. “Yeah,” she replied. “I wanted to ask?” Leo spoke as his tone dropped. “How did you get into the dark alley and get cornered by a pervert?” “Well, I was going for a walk because I just arrived at Aranthia and I got lost,” Sylvia replied. “I saw him in the alley and I decided to ask him for direction. He misunderstood and thought that I tried to make a move on him. That’s how I ended up in that situation.” Sylvia giggled a little after she finished giving her explanation. “Oh, I understand,” said Leo. “But, why did you go for a walk alone when you did not know anyone in Aranth

“Who exactly is Duke Felix?” he asked, gazing at Jason.“What do you mean, who is he? I’ve already told you,” Jason uttered.“I know he’s the Duke of Aranthia and the real owner of Scarlet Magic High School, but other than that... what else do you know about this guy?” Recalling the disturbed face Sylvia made when her dad was brought up made him increasingly worried for some reason.“Well... there’s not much. Other than the fact that he’s incredibly strong and has already unlocked his crimson mana core, there’s really nothing much to tell. He’s very mysterious,” Jason revealed in one breath.“Don’t you find it odd that no one knows anything about this man?” he questioned.Jason’s brows furrowed slightly, considering his words. After a while, he looked at the Duke’s retreating figure and then back at his friend. “People just thought he enjoyed his privacy, which is normal. He may hold a high rank in society, but he is still a being just like everyone else. Why are you asking all of a s

Cheers filled the arena as countless spectators gathered to watch the exam of the century. Thousands were here for this event, and yet only those who survived could get in. "I have everything you need," Jason assured, prepping Leo for the match. "Even my healing potion?" "Especially your healing potion... you're going to need it," he muttered under his breath. "What?!" "Good luck," Jason exclaimed, completely changing the subject. He shoved a little pill down Leo's throat and handed him some water. "Eww, what was that?" Leo cried in disgust. "A good luck charm," Jason simply stated. "I don't feel too good," Leo revealed, swaying a little. "Just shake it off—the competition is about to start," Jason revealed. At a stage raised to the clouds by magic, a bald man stood in the limelight, the whiskers on his face raised high. Dressed in extravagant attire, the principal began: "Welcome parents, contestants, and fellow citizens of Ivandale. It is with great joy and honor that I a

The cheers grew louder, but Leo could still spot a handful of disappointed faces. He left the arena with Jason by his side."That was the most epic match I've ever seen. The last time an alliance was made in the ring, it was Master Darwin, Master Varrick, and—""My mom?" Leo smirked."Exactly. You're already following in her footsteps. That's rich," Jason chuckled."She helped me first. I would have lost if not for her," Leo said immediately."I know... she was amazing," Jason replied, smiling blankly as he stared into the distance.Leo turned to look at his dazed friend. He smiled, wanting to say something but deciding not to."You did it, Leo!" Sydney exclaimed, grabbing him and Jason in a bear hug."I told you, didn't I?" Varrick remarked."That was the wildest thing I have ever done in my entire life," Leo admitted with a deep grin."That's only a piece of what's to come, my friend," Varrick assured him, folding his arms."You were great out there," Darwin finally spoke."Thank yo

  • Leo The Dragon Heir   CHAPTER 40: THE PIZZA THEORY

Leo ran out of the classroom and hurriedly went to meet up with his family at the lobby of the principal's office. He played the last moments over and over again, like a broken record player, trying hard to figure Sylvia out. Indeed, the famous saying was true in every timeline: "If you can understand why a pizza is made in a circle, placed in a square box, and eaten as a triangle, then you can understand women." Although he knew it was hard, Leo realized that understanding Sylvia now was close to impossible.Jason noticed his friend coming from across the hall and quickly called out, "Leo..." However, Leo was too lost in his thoughts to answer. Jason walked up to him, gave him a little nudge, and guided him to where his family sat."Leo, what's up with you?" he inquired after finally grabbing his attention."Nothing, I'm just... so excited," he fibbed, giving an awkward smile.Jason noticed that something wasn't right but decided to lighten the mood before Leo went in for his interv

They rode for what seemed like hours before reaching the best ice cream bar in all of Ivandale. Only the best for such a special occasion. They all ordered their favorite ice cream and sat at a table, eating happily. However, Sir Reginald showed up at the ice cream bar, and Darwin, Varrick, and Sydney decided to join him for a while out of courtesy, leaving Jason and Leo alone.Leo still fiddled with his humping pumpkin-flavored ice cream, while Jason's bowl of fiery vanilla was already half-empty."Are you sure you're okay?" Jason inquired yet again, looking at the bits of melted ice cream."Yes, I'm perfectly fine," Leo replied with a subtle smile."It's alright if you don't want to tell me," Jason sighed, taking another bite of his ice cream."Jason, don't do that," Leo cried, rolling his eyes."Do what?" Jason asked, almost cluelessly."The emotional blackmail.""I did no such thing. Maybe it's just your conscience," Jason said casually, staring intently at Leo and shattering his

They finally reached the open window but couldn't go in just yet. The principal was still in the room, and he looked livid. "Alright, Lady Sylvia, since you want to be difficult, let's see how smug you get when you're face-to-face with Miss Renee." Sylvia's face drained completely of color once the principal said those words. He grumbled a few more words and walked out in a huff. The sound of the door slamming made Sylvia jerk in fear. She looked incredibly pale, and her lips were cracked and had already started to bleed. Anaya's eyes softened slightly when she saw her, but looking at her palm again, she knew that she needed answers, and the sooner she got them, the better. They waited a few minutes before climbing in through the window. "Hello, Sylvia. How are you feeling?" Anaya asked, her attitude a little nonchalant. Sylvia quickly sat up, her body tensing and her eyes widening as she stammered, "What are you doing here? You can't be in here!" "Why? Something to hide, Sylvi

"The principal went to see her. They probably think she's the one who did that to the field," Leo muttered, constantly pacing right outside the principal's office. Jason and Anaya gave each other meaningful glances, visibly trying to piece everything together. After Sylvia had fainted in front of them, they quickly rushed her to the school nurse. The school principal had gone in moments later, sweating profusely, with his eyes widened in shock. "Well, isn’t she?" Anaya asked sternly. "Of course not," Leo snapped, he never wasted any time when it came to defending Sylvia. Anaya swept her hands through her hair, her annoyance growing by the minute as she spoke. "My goodness, open your eyes, Leo. The evidence is overwhelming. Sylvia hasn’t been in school in days. I didn’t even see her at the gathering—did you?" she said, pointing at Jason. Jason tilted his head thoughtfully before slowly shaking his head. "Exactly. And then, the minute she shows up, she’s bruised and battered at

  • CHAPTER 88: A MESSAGE

The club festivities faded and the real party began in the school. They made their way into the school auditorium and noticed all that had been laid out. Music, amazing snacks, even a huge disco ball—the very best Scarlet Magic High School had to offer, and yet somehow someone didn't seem to like it. "This party is lame," Sebastian sighed, swirling his drink with a straw. "Not as lame as the ones royals throw," Leo remarked. Sebastian's eyes widened, his shock noticeable in his expression. He quickly turned to Jason, looking for some kind of validation. Royal gatherings had always been the talk of the kingdom; people who had the luxury of being in attendance just couldn't stop talking about it. Jason noticed Sebastian's gaze and slowly replied, "You'd be surprised." "That can't be true. Have you been to one, Anaya?" Sebastian asked, hoping she'd give him the answer he had been believing all his life. However, Anaya hadn't said a word for a long time. "Anaya? W..." Sebastia

They turned heads everywhere they went, although the boys were almost certain that was Anaya's doing. The field was filled with various activities: chess, Pegasus riding, flame throwing, and much, much more. "So basically, all we need to do is choose a club," Jason said. "Mhmm, then the after party," Sebastian added excitedly. "Crazy..." Leo murmured when a centaur casually sashayed right by him. "Come on, let's check that out," Anaya said eagerly, dragging them toward the archery section. The person in charge of the spot had just released his bow, landing his arrow in a perfect bullseye. He turned to them, flashing his pearly white teeth, and said, "Impressive, isn't it?" Anaya scoffed at his words and rolled her eyes. "Anaya," Chris greeted with a deep grin. "Chris," Anaya replied flatly. "Leo, Jason, and Sebastian. Glad we're all caught up," Leo joked. Anaya rolled her eyes and smiled before turning to Sebastian. "This looks fun. Do you want to give it a shot?"

  • CHAPTER 86: LEPRECHAUNS DON'T DRESS LIKE THAT

Anaya assured Sebastian that they would definitely be in attendance, shocking both Leo and Jason. After hearing her assurance, Sebastian left for his classes, skipping happily. Jason looked at the flyer carefully and stared at Anaya with a raised brow. "You want to join a club?" Jason asked, passing the flyer to Leo. "Of course not," Anaya replied rather quickly. "Then why do you want us to go, especially when we have so much to d—" Anaya placed her index finger on Leo's lips and interjected, "Shh... enough with the book talk. I'm starting to think you both like this more than I do. Come to school tomorrow in your finest costumes, and don't even think of blowing me off." "Should we dress to match? Like one of us will be bread, one will be peanut butter, and the other will be jam?" Jason said excitedly, beginning to like the idea. "Hold on—who's the jam?" Anaya asked, her eyes widening in expectation. "And who's the bread?" Leo added, wrinkling his nose. He never seemed

  • CHAPTER 85: A DISTRACTION...

Anaya walked over to them after her long conversation with one of the classmates. This was the longest she had spoken to anyone other than Jason and Leo since she stepped foot into the school. She was still laughing heartily as she said, "You guys are not going to believe what happened to Mr. Fickletie Berry..." Her laughter slowly faded once she saw how drained they looked. "What happened to you two?" she asked, worry etched on her face. However, she received no reply, only aggrieved sighs. Anaya's frown deepened as she felt she was being given the silent treatment. "Look, are you guys still upset about the prank thing? I said I was sorry." "No, we're not upset, honest," Jason assured, waving his hands frantically. Anaya slowly nodded and replied, "Okay, good... But then, why do you both look like you're about to jump me?" Leo chuckled slightly at her comment, and Jason responded, without a sigh, "My dad made us scrub the ballroom floor when he found out that we were not in

  • CHAPTER 84: TRUST...

"Where have you two been?" Sydney asked again. The boys looked at each other in panic, both wondering if one of them had a reasonable and, most importantly, a believable answer. "Uhh..." they hummed simultaneously, a distressed smile forming on their faces. Sydney suddenly walked toward them abruptly. They closed their eyes, mentally preparing for a huge scolding, but instead, they felt the warmth of her arms wrap around them tightly. A sigh escaped her lips before she exhaled in one breath, "Do you know how worried we were? Alex had to send the guards out to look for you." "Look for us?" Leo asked, a little astonished. "Of course! And he didn't even send ordinary guards..." Sydney paused and looked around. The boys raised a brow at her odd movements but didn't think much of it. She leaned closer to them and whispered, "He sent the Red Claws." "What?!" Jason exclaimed in a similar hushed tone. "Who are the Red Claws?" Leo inquired, almost cluelessly. "I'll tell you later," Jason

  • CHAPTER 83: WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?

"I’m so confused," Jason said immediately. "Why is the woman who gave us our uniforms here?" Leo asked, his words also laced with confusion. "Because she knows us," Anaya replied vaguely. "Of course she knows us; she gave us our uniforms," Leo said indifferently. Anaya let out a sigh and, after a moment of silence, said, "Okay, I guess we’re starting from the very beginning. Miss Tremont had been sneaking around us an awful lot; it was hard not to notice. So every time I would see her lurking, I’d follow her to see what she was up to. One day, I found her going into a secret room. Curiosity got the better of me, so I followed her—" "Are you serious?" Leo interrupted immediately, worry etched on their faces. "You could have been attacked or worse—" "Will you boys just let me finish?" Anaya snapped abruptly, cutting them off. The room fell silent once more, and Anaya took a deep breath, dusted the hem of her shirt, and continued. "Thank you... As I was saying, when I came in, I wa

Jason furrowed his brows and remembered that this was the same place Anaya kept disappearing to. "You do know that we could be walking into a trap, right?" Jason said, taking a deep breath. With the number of enemies they were accumulating, it wasn’t far-fetched to think that the letter might not have been written by Anaya. Leo scoffed, rummaging through his bag. "That's why I brought our wands, genius," he said, waving the wands in front of Jason’s face. Jason shook his head at his childish behavior, not wanting to remind his friend that they barely knew how to use them. He looked at the locker and tapped it softly three times, exactly. They waited for a while, but nothing happened. Jason decided to try again, but it was the same result. "You’re not doing it right," Leo said plainly, causing Jason’s brow to furrow in annoyance. "What do you mean? That’s three solid taps right there!" Jason responded immediately. "You’re supposed to do it slowly." "I did!" Jason replied, his ag
