Explore the island

After receiveing tons of scolding,Kadori got isolated from the crowd. He was taken to an inner room in the ship where the soldiers take their nap after patrolling.

The place was dimly lit with candles hanging on the wall here and there. Kadori sat on the floor,his arms folded as he awaited further instructions.

For someone who just murdered his fellow human,Kadori instead,felt no remorse. He felt like the man deserved it. Everyone was hungry,why did he chose to steal from a child?

The man probably saw Kadori as a weak and feeble boy,and if he stole his food,he would be unable to fight back.

Sitting there patiently,Kadori could hear his stomach rumbling loudly out of hunger and he was begining to feel extremely weak.

'Why save us when we are going to eventually die of hunger?' Kadori pondered.

The entrance door swung open,and in came Uncle Duncan  carrying a tray full of food.

"He walked towards a small round table that was positioned at the center of the room,placing the tray on the table,he began to dig in.

"Are you going to join me or just stare at me like a hungry cow?" Uncle Duncan said,gesturing the other to come forward.

Kadori rose up and quickly rushed forward to the table.

"Don't be shy. Eat up." Uncle Duncan said,chewing a meat. Kadori grabbed a spoon and dug in immediately,filling up his mouth to the extent that it felt like it was about to burst.

Few minutes into feasting,the tray was finally empty. Even if Kadori didn't ate to his full,the one he had was still enough.

"Look,I'm sorry for what i said ear.." Uncle Duncan tried to apologize,but Kadori chimed in.

"It's fine,forget it." Kadori said,wiping off the sauce that stained his mouth and face.

There was total silence in the room for some minutes,until Uncle Duncan broke it, "What you did was brave. I am happy you stood up and fought for your right." Uncle Duncan said.

"But in the same time,it's also foolish. Sometimes you just have to overlook things and let it go."

"Let it go?!" Kadori snapped, "That bastard stole my meal. He was aware most of us hasn't eaten for a day or two,still he chose to be heartless and steal from a young boy."

"I understand." Uncle Duncan let out a sigh, "But what you did wasn't because of the loaf of bread and water."

"What do you mean?" Kadori inquired.

"You only needed someone to push you a little,giving you the opportunity to pour out the anger you feel about your mother's death." Uncle Duncan responded.

"This feeling of anger and rage is clouding your sense of reasoning Kadori." Uncle Duncan spoke further, "If you don't forget everything and move on,you might end up doing something drastic. Something you will regret for the rest of your life."

Uncle Duncan's face was filled with concern. Ever since hid brother,Kadori's father died,he has been with Kadori,acting like a father.

He knew what it felt like for a child to grow up without his father,so he had to step up and fill in that position.

"Ok sir." After moment of silence,Kadori finally replied. Uncle Duncan ruffled Kadori's spiky brown hair before telling him to go join the others outside.

Five days passed since the villagers embarked on the journey to safety. Everyday,the soldiers would reveive news from the sirvivours in other country saying there's no where in the world that was safe anymore.

The disease already wiped out 99% of the world population.

They kept receiving updates,until it stopped eventually. Which could only mean those survivors were gone also.

Kadori tried his best to stay out of trouble,to avoid angering Uncle Duncan. He was afraid Uncle Duncan might leave him behind if he does something funy again.

A week passed and the ship was still travelling through the large sea.

"We are here!" The sailor announced,sailing the ship to an island up front.

The villagers began to cheer and jubilate when the ship finally stopped in the island.

"Allright,grab your stuffs and get off the ship!" Uncle Duncan ordered.

After everything was ready,the villagers began to make their way down to the island.

The island was covered in weeds and tall trees here and there. The place was quiet and void of people.

"Ok,listen up!" Uncle Duncan said, "We don't know where we are or if it's actually safe to make it our new home." Uncle Duncan announced.

"Here's what we are going to do. We'll divide ourselves in a group of 100. Each group would be accompanied by a soldier."

"The groups would fan out,exploring the island and looking for a safe area  to build our home. This island is as big as a city,that's why we have to divide ourselves. That way we'll cover more grounds faster." Uncle Duncan instructed.

The crowd broke out in murmur of disagreement to what the soldier just said. He was the one who said he wasn't sure if the place is safe or not. Why then is he asking them to venture in seperately?

"Quit complaining and group yourselves!" Uncle Duncan was fed up with the loud murmuring.

The villagers began to group themselves sluggishly and halfheartedly.

Kadori was asked to join Uncle Duncan,same as Bjorn,Olivia,and the girl that got bitten but didn't turn.

"Here's a fire cracker!" Uncle Duncan announced,lifting up what looked like a small piece of rod,a small button was in the middle, "If you encounter something too much to handle,lift this into the air and press the button."

"The moment you press the button,a signal would be sent to the sky,informing me there's trouble. And i'll be there A.S.A.P." Uncle Duncan explained,handing over the fire crackers to a single person in a group.

"With everything being said. Let's begin to explore."
