"Ma," Zoey looked down with a frozen smile and accepted the credit card the salesgirl was returning to her.

She turned to her friends and put on an expressionless face. "I guess there must be something wrong with my credit cards. I'll have to leave to return home and ask my husband right away."

"Okay," Her friends nodded, pretending to be understanding. They even collected the bags of things she had bought at the mall.

"We understand. We'll return this for you. There's nothing embarrassing about not being able to buy them now. We can simply come here some other time."
