Chapter 57

"Wait up Snow. What am I supposed to see?" He came out to find a table filled with breakfast. He cleaned his eyes with the back of his hands and blinked. Nothing disappeared. The table was still full, and Snow was waiting by the window.

"What's this about?" He asked, his voice dragging Snow away from the window.

"You didn't come down on time, and now they're gone."

"Snow, who is gone?" He asked, with one hand on his waist, and the other finger massaging his forehead.

"The guys I told you about? They were watching the house for over an hour." He explained.

"Why didn't you try your best to wake me?"

But as he asked the question, and Snow wagged his tail, walking past him to the dining table, he knew he wasn't getting a response for such a foolish question. The dog did try its best to wake him up. It wasn't his fault he was navigating such gory dreams, no encounters.

"Are you hungry or not?" Snow took a brief break from the bone he was munching on to ask.
