He closed the journal, and returned it back to the drawer. Retrieving his phone from his pocket, he dialled a number.

"How're you doing my darling?” A friendly voice speaks through the phone.

"Cleo." He called, relief flooding his voice.

"Thought you said you were done with Tokyo City, and everything that has to do with it?"

"I thought so too. Turns out Tokyo City is not done with me. Everywhere I turn, my space is invaded." She chuckled.

"What did you expect? You're a god. gods are like the earthly celebrities. Only with more power, a niche kind of fame, drawn to like a mother to a flame, and a wicked amount of finesse." She breathed heavily, as if she was walking.

Few seconds after, her heels scrapping on granite floor pretty much confirmed she was.

"If it were just about me, I wouldn't mind."

"They're already attacking the girl? Yikes."

"Wait, you know about Winnie?" He asked. Just when he thought he had cracked a code, there was more confusion always waiting for him.

"Was it someone you knew ---" Tobias' voice trailed when he raised his head and saw Cleo, instead of Elijah he had expected."Finally, I see you in person." She threw a wink and walked over to the table where the meal had been served."Your bags are in a room upstairs in case you're wondering," Elijah said, walking in on Tobias with his mouth wide open."She's so hot!" She turned her face, throwing him a wink. The bone fell off his mouth, as his tail wagged with excitement. "Finally! Another person who can hear me." He said in jubilation."Wait, I thought you asked me not to call you Doggy?" Elijah said, sitting beside Cleo."What? Me? When did I ever say that?" "Leave the dog alone Elijah. He's so cute." The loud voices coming from the living room to Elijah's room woke him up. He almost smothered himself with a pillow, regretting why he invited so many people to his house. It was just Cleo and Tobias. Three if you counted Snow. Still, it felt like he was living in a barrack with all that noise.Dragging himself out of bed, he proceeded into the bathroom for a quick shower. By the time he stepped out, his headache had drastically reduced. He walked over to his closet with his towel tied securely around his waist. Suddenly, his door pushed open, and Cleo in a robe came in. "Rise and shine Angel!" She said in a singsong voice, holding two mugs in her hand."What are you doing barging into my room, just like that!" He howled in annoyance. She whistled, giving him a quick once over. "This is quite the sight?" She said, throwing him a wink."I'm not in the mood Cleo. It's too early for your shenanigans." He hissed, turning his back to her."Well, you better snap out of that fowl mo

Cleo walked away, ignoring his question. His face scrunched as he watched her leave, but when he turned to Tobias, the clown had a dazed expression on his face."Get a hold of yourself, man!" He shook his head."I know right? I'm not even that thirsty." Snow said, appearing from nowhere."Man, she's so hot!" Tobias said."You know what else is hot? My fist if you don't keep it moving." Elijah hissed and stormed out."Why's he always in a foul mood?" Tobias muttered, following after him."Maybe it's because someone, read Winnie Carter is being hard on him." Snow wags his tail, returning to where he came from."Quantum City is so much brighter than Tokyo." Cleo sighed, reclining into the backseat chair."Right?" Elijah said from the wheel."Yeah. There's such a dark cloud hovering in Tokyo. Per

"You're a good man Howie," Elijah said as the big man led him towards Kingston's room. "You even saved your friend from a beating. How kind of you." He stetched his hands to pat the man's shoulder, but he flinched in fright."What? I'm not going to hurt you. We're friends now right?" He raised a quizzical brow."Su--re." He stuttered."Good. I'll take it from here." He said, offering him a genuine smile. He had barely completed his words when Howie turned around, and hurried away. He chuckled at the sight the giant of a man presented, running from someone who was considerably smaller than him. Suddenly, he felt a little bit of pity for him. His eyes went to his boots and he shrugged. "Didn't think you were that hard to be honest."But when his eyes returned to the door that separated him from the person he truly wanted to hurt, it darkened. "Bastard." He cursed silently, pushing it open."Dr Hill? Is that you?" Kingston straightened into a sitting position. He was ready t

"Hey Kingston, are you awake?" Elijah turned to Kingston who groaned in pain on the bed. Walking over to him, he reached out to cover his mouth but suddenly paused."Fuck it." He muttered.Kingston tried to speak, but the only thing that came out of his mouth was silent air. He fell, with his back to the bed, and his hands on his aching stomach. Tears rushed down his face, from not only the physical pain but the shame he felt.Confidently, Elijah walked to the door and pulled it open. "Elijah?" Dr Hill's brow furrowed as he stared at him."I was just leaving." He said, and walked past him."Wait, Eli---"He stopped when he spotted Kingston writhing in pain from the corner of his eyes. "Oh shit!" He sighed, rushing over to his side.Elijah walked straight past the guards who were all gathered together, as opposed to earlier, when they were spread apart. He caught Howie's eyes, and the big man quickly put his head down. Elijah chuckled, waving him goodbye.Back in the lobby, he

By the time Elijah arrived at the laboratory, he was completely exhausted. Between kicking Kingston's ass, and that torturous conversation with Colin, he was ready to call it a day. But as his car rolled into the compound, his eyes caught the van in front of him.Two men in uniforms that looked very much like police uniforms stood side by side, observing the warehouse. They acted like they had not just heard the sound of his car."Not another problem please." He sighed, alighting from his car.The moment his legs dropped to the ground, both officers were by his side. "Good evening son. I'm Officer Melbourne." The older one who looked just happy to be there stretched out his hand. The younger one eyes him and pushes his hands away. "Whatchu doing here Mr?""Elijah." He said."You didn't answer my question." He continued, his chest puffed out."Don't be rude." "erhmmm--- No, not really." Jack stuttered."It's just standard procedure," Melbourne explained."Oh, I understand you. The warehouse has been abandoned for quite a while right? Considering the area it's located too. Trust me," She allowed her fingers to settle on Jack's sleeve. The cop's naked eye shone with delight. "My husband and I have wanted to sell it for quite some time now. But we had to leave the city for a while. You know how business goes. Right honey?" With her hands still on Jack's sleeve, she moved her head towards Tobias.Elijah was well and truly entertained. Now he knew what an excellent actress Cleo was, his life was about to become ten times easier."Yes, love. We're going to sell now." He said, the enthusiasm in his voice not matching his eyes as he stared at Cleo's hands on Jack."So can we please leave now officer?" She pouted, and with her free hands, twisted a lock of her hair as she bounced from toe to toe."I think ----""Yes, you can. You can go any

“Leave me alone. Just go away,” Elijah muttered over and over again, as he scraped the walls of his cell with his fingers. It had gotten dark, and everytime it was dark, the voices got louder and more menacing.“Elijah?!” The most off-putting of all the voices sounded. He knew who he belonged to, but he couldn't quite place it. His mind was too disorganised.“Leave me alone,” he begged.“Why? You don't want to be reminded of your sins? I thought you were a self righteous prick!”“I didn't do it,” he shook his head continuously. “I didn't. An accident. She did it. She caused it.”Darius laughed. “But no one that matters knows. In the papers, you're a murderer. You need to see the paper stands, and the news on the city's projector screens. They're all carrying your face and your crime. Maybe you should have publicised your healing abilities. If you had, the, would have been more inclined to support you.” he laughed maniacally.“I'm innocent. The more he tried to keep them away, the more they laughed and mocked him.“Do you know how many people you killed?” Another baritone voice began in a singsong tone.“Not one,” one shrieked.“Not even two,” another thundered.“Not five either,” a third chirped.“So many!” The first voice screamed and broke into a feat of laughter.“No, I didn't mean to. It was a mistake. A setup. Please. Mercy!” He begged, and cried.“No, you did! You put on the ring when you knew how blood thirsty it was. You wanted this. Craved it, because deep down, you're truly a monster!”“No I'm not!” He screamed back.“Yes you are!”“No I'm not!”“Y

She just wanted to help.“You listen to me,” he spoke through his bringing the ring to his face. “You're not going to keep doing whatever the fuck you want to do. Elijah drove to a stop in front of the Trusts mansion.“There's a way we can play this off without alerting Colin's boys. But if you want to go the badass route, then we can just walk in.”“What way?” Elijah asked, his trouble sensing tingling.“With your tongue shoved down my throat. They'd think we're in heat and just want to make love. Without any questions asked, they would open the door and let us in.”“No!” He said, immediately she was done.“Okay, Mr God. Chill with the outburst. It was only a suggestion. It's either that, or we go in together. If we do, there's a chance one of them might recognize you and report back to Colin. Are you willing to risk that?”“I'm already here. I don't care if anyone recognizes me or not. All I want to do is get in there, take the herb, and get out.”“You say it like it's that easy,” she said, withdrawing her legs from the dashboard. “Doesn't it take a whole process? Or are you willing to risk the ring working against you?”“The ring feeds on vi

“We will have to return to the exhibition one after the other, though. Just follow my lead,” Winnie said.Elijah blinked multiple times as he tried to wrap his mind around Winnie’s enthusiasm. She had the biggest smile on her face, as if she had been waiting for this day all her life.“Are you ready?” she lifted her head, her gaze darting between Elijah and Avery.“I don’t know what exactly you’re trying to do. But I’m bored and down for anything, so let’s do it.” Avery shrugged. “That’s the spirit!” she pumped her fist, then turned to Elijah. “You?” she asked, eyeing him gently as she waited for his response.“Do I have a choice?”“No!” Both Avery and Winnie screamed in unison.“Fine.” He threw his hands into the air in surrender. They stood aside, as Winnie stomped her foot on the ground twice before storming towards the exhibition room.“It’s not just me, right? Elijah thought about it for all but twenty seconds before he shook his head, rejecting the idea. “No. I absolutely cannot use Winnie that way. If I have to wait until the day of the fundraiser, then so be it.”“Look, I get it. Winnie is special to you. She’s the one you love, or whatever. Regardless, this is your best shot. Colin knows that you’re a god.”“What!” he raised his brow, temporarily startled?“I had to tell him about us, because he pretty much figured out the basics. Anyway, that’s not even the case right now. If you don’t find a way to sneak into the house soon, he’s going to set you up so bad when the time comes, I’m afraid you may not be able to escape the ambush.”He let her words sit in his head for a few minutes. His biggest enemy at the moment was time. By all indications, Colin planned on using the next weekend for his fundraiser. This would make it exactly one week from today. In a way, he could admit Avery was right. He had to move fast if he wanted to thwart C
