Chapter Eight

 Landlord 

I was going insane, I realized I was in an extremely annoying bad status being a version of confusion. My HP is decreasing, this is an attack of the corpse collector. 

I quickly brought out my health recovery item which I bought after killing the black halo. I was glad I saved it for later, when I used the recovery health things became normal it neutralised the despair magic. 

To my surprise I didn't expect it to save me from despair. I jumped out from hiding using a combo skill. I combined both my magic arrow and dragon breathing fire. I shot the collector and the arrow exploded inside the collector, but still no damage. 

The collector attacked, I jumped out of the building while in mid air I shot at the collector, 

[ MULTIPLE ARROW ] 

the one arrow I shot became eight as it attacked the collector, while in mid air I noticed the collector dodge one particular arrow. It has never dodged my attack before this is the first time. 

I landed on the ground, stood on my feet, and I needed to take a closer look. I ran into a building, I went up to the top floor and I drew the attention of the collector. 

He moved closer to me. I made a combo attack. The arrow exploded inside the collector. I jumped off the building, looking inside I saw a core. It has to be the source of his powe_ A powerful strike as the collector hit me right in mid air I landed, hitting the ground heavily, I bounced off rolling on the ground then I hit a wall. 

That was a stupid thing I did, I didn't plan for a second attack I let my guard down but, I now know how to kill it. Slowly I got up, groaning. 

The collector attacks with fire, using my dragon shield I block his fire attack, 

[ RABBIT EAR ARROW ]. The rabbit ear arrow is an arrow that once shot does not lose its target. I activated it and shot at the collector.

The arrow was flying straight to the collector core, the collector dodge it, the arrow revert back unknowingly for the collector it strikes his core. 

The match was over, I killed the collector, but it was strange I didn't get any coins from it, then it must be someone's pet.  

I took a lot of damage, from the despair magic and especially from the collector's last attack and I got the magic arrow. 

While heading back home I gathered up some foodstuffs. Finally I arrived back at the safe house. I was heading straight to my room and some of the players saw me with the food items. 

"Why are you carrying food items, where did you get it?" A random player said.

It brought attention to the other players, they surrounded me and everybody wanted something to eat. I want to give them out for free but won't that be stupid.

I said, "If you want food you will have to buy them with coins as usual." They all started quarreling with each other, some agreed to it because they had some coins left, others didn't as they didn't have any. 

"Aren't you passing your limit young man," said the landlord. I saw the landlord walking down along with the caretaker he walked towards me. 

"These are my property, everything here belongs to me including the food you are holding. Kindly drop them and go. I will take it from here," said the landlord. I was looking at his grin face. 

"I am afraid I can't, because I got this food outside. I didn't find them in your territory," I explained. 

"Are you saying you went outside?" Said the landlord. They started laughing, all that I just said we're nonsense. 

"There is no way you will still be alive if you went out, the poison outside will kill you within two minutes." Said the landlord. "I hate people who lie," he continue ranting, "if you don't do as I say_" 

" He went outside, I saw him leaving the safehouse." Suho interrupted the landlord. 

Everyone was baffled, they started showing some sign of belief, " how did you survive the poison?" 

"It was easy, I have immunity to poison." I replied. That was enough to convince them but the landlord didn't stop there. 

"Fine, I don't care where you got it but since you are in my territory I can do whatever I want, you have two options, handover the food items or I quietly teleport you outside and restrict you from coming in," said the landlord. 

"Why would I be afraid of stepping out, I just told you I am immune to poison." 

"Because that's the only way I can claim possession of the food, I am just giving you the second option so you can easily enjoy your money," said the landlord.

No one can go against the landlord, I thought of Sussy so I stepped down and gave him the food. 

As the landlord claimed possession of the food he put a price tag on each item, each item was expensive and everyone became depressed. The landlord does not care about anyone's feelings , he just wants to make things difficult. 

But then, his joy didn't last long. The landlord was punched on the chin which saw him flying down. It was Sussy who punched the landlord 

"You just made the biggest mistake of your life," said the landlord. Everyone was surprised. 

"I don't mind hitting you again, you deserve it. People just died from a poison attack just because of you, they couldn't afford a space and now you are going to do the same thing again, and what's your gain so that they will  die of hunger," Sussy explained. 

"You are just spitting out nonsense, I don't know why I am still seeing your ugly face," said the landlord. 

The landlord tries to teleport Sussy out but nothing happens. Sussy was still in the safe house because she didn't rent a space.

I did, and Sussy was under me. The landlord was furious when he learnt Sussy didn't rent a space and signed a contract. He made it clear to the caretaker that it should not rent out space to any guild members. 

Sussy was ready to beat up the landlord if he doesn't bring down the price, actually she had to give the food out freely. 

The landlord couldn't do anything, he can't teleport me out since I am immune to poison. 

"You all will regret this," said the landlord. The landlord left. The food was shared among us. I was surprised because it was peaceful. 

"That was brave." I said to Sussy. She was smiling and suddenly she stopped. I wonder why. I turned and saw Suho walking towards us, seeing Suho cause her sudden change of emotion. 

"When I saw you walking into that deadly poison I knew you were up to something, I was curious and I wanted to follow you but I couldn't because of the poison. I doubt you went outside just to get food. Tell me, why did you go outside?" Suho asked. 

" To get food, " I replied. " What did you see?" Suho asked. "I saw dead people and the cospe collector."

Right there talking Suho asked me to join him to steal an energy orb once this scenario ends. 

"You once said you don't team with weaklings, why now?" I asked. "Because I like your survival instinct, you are weak and still weak but when I saw you walk into that poison I realised you are not some scaredy cat I became interested in you," suho explained. 

"The moment we clear this scenario I want you…." He pauses a bit and looks at Sussy. "including her to steal an energy orb at Gina's house."  

I agree to go with him and so with Sussy. Right there resting in our room the landlord was busy working. He made things worse for us by giving out information about what just happened.  

Then we heard a voice saying ``it was COM001 speaking 

" announcement. There have been some changes in this scenario. The god of this game is bored watching everyone doing nothing, no action. Normally on the third day there will be some limited food which you players have to fight for but since we all have gotten food there will be some unwanted guests on the third day they won't be friendly so try not to die. Goodluck." 

Things just turn out badly, no one has an idea of the so-called guest. When I played level up on the third day of this scenario we fought among ourselves to get some food but just because I came in with some food they changed the outcome. 

Like I said I need to stop thinking about it as the game I used to play. This is serious. 

Other players started pointing their fingers at me saying I am the reason they are going to fight something big.
