Emilia’s car sped toward Ann’s private clinic, which was already in full view. The Head Scientist was on the wheel whereas Jasmine, Rika, and Melissa, were sitting on the back. Sitting on the passenger seat was Bert, who chose to come along to check on Bridget.
When the car was about fifty meters away, to the shock of everyone in it, there was a blinding purple light followed by a violent and loud rumbling.
Bert wasted no time, using his special ability, and formed a solid yellow-ish barrier around the vehicle, protecting it from an incoming shock wave. Emilia pressed the brakes, forcing the car into a sudden halt as the shock wave cracked Bert’s barrier and ravaged the surrounding trees.
There was only one shock wave but when Emilia and co came to their se
“Are you injured?”Bin was in a worse condition than before, his entire chest blackened and his veins bulging and wriggling uncontrollably, likewise tinged with some blackness.Dr. Ann was softly laid on the ground, hyperventilating and shaking from fear. She was mumbling incomprehensibly under her breath and looking at the ground, completely dazed. Only when Bin shook her multiple times did she slowly raise her head and look at him with teary eyes and quivering lips.“Y-you’re..-”“I’m fine. We need to keep moving.”He helped her up but she fell again, her knees weak and legs wobbly, still frightened. In the
“With all due respect, Madam Angelica, I’m not going to work for neither your nor your daughter. I’m not going to be her bodyguard or servant or anything relatively close to that.”Bin resolutely voiced his thoughts, speaking with a clarion voice as his eyes looked back at the smiling woman, who didn’t seem to mind what he had said.“But you’re going to protect my daughter, right?”“I will. Regina won’t last long and she’ll try to take over Jasmine’s body.”“Isn’t that contradicting?” She asked back, standing right in front of the sitting young man.
“My full name is Emilia Von Xenzid and I am a descendant of Vincent Von Xenzid, the man known as the Father of magic. That makes Bin, my son, also a descendant of Vincent. The abnormal genes of Vincent have deteriorated and in less than two generations, it has become almost non-existent so, like Bin, I didn’t inherit my ancestor’s unique abilities.”Bert seemed the calmest of them all after Emilia’s revelation. Rika gasped and looked at Bin, her two friends, however, kept fixedly looking at the ex-Head Scientist of the Immortal Facility.Akane was confused, probably due to her limited knowledge about the history of Magic. Julia remained composed, her expression never fluctuating or even twitching.“The spell Miss Jasmine cast on Quee
“You’re awake.”Bin tried not to make any sound as he entered the room and slowly closed the door, though it was unnecessary. Bridget was up, sitting up and looking back at him with a forced smile.“You look worse.”Bin chuckled and, after bringing a chair, sat next to the bed. He scrutinized the auburn-haired girl and noticed that her face- especially the lips- were still very pale.“How are you feeling?”The girl shrugged her shoulders, vainly trying to make it look as though she’s healthier than ever.“I don’t look as bad as you d
“Quit hissing like an angry cat, Elise.”Marshall Don Lunar shook his head, unable to come up with the right words to calm Elise or knock some sense into her.“Your brother is truly tenacious. Queen sent an assassin but he was killed… not only that but he demolished the whole building! Though there are some unexplained factors in the reports I read.”The man paused for a second, scanning the listening Omega Team, his eyes falling lastly on Cecile.“Abyss has been monitoring him ever since he entered Thomas’ school. He used his mother’s ability, the blue fire, but when he was captured, he was able to use Sand.”
As per Julia’s words, the session didn’t last long, only forty minutes. Half of it was spent in reproaching Bin for his misuse and over-consumption of Mana and the other was used ‘sparring’. When they were done, it was finally time for Bin to go and get treated. As Ann’s clinic, along with the rest of the building, was destroyed by Queen’s magic, Emilia had to borrow a friend’s laboratory. Julia had to go to work so she couldn’t accompany them, however, Jasmine and her two friends tagged along.“Don’t you have classes?”He sounded bitter and frustrated, turning his head to the back and looking at the three girls. Emilia was taking the wheel and faintly smiling, relieved that her son will be properl
More than one time, Bin did not deign answer and that made Doctor Chan Wu chuckled. The middle-aged man didn’t insist, he just got up and left the laboratory, after all, he’s as tired as Emilia and his slow steps, tired face, and wobbling body were more than enough proof for that. Bin wasn’t left alone for that long as the door burst open and three girls entered, each of them holding a cold soda and busy chitchatting. “Why are you back?” “What do you mea-” Jasmine burst out in laughter, not even finishing her sentence. She pointed at Bin’s head and said a few inaudible words to Melissa and Rika, who giggled. “What’s so funny?”
Early morning, before the break of Dawn, Bin wandered to the roof, wanting to spend some time alone. Emilia and Chan Wu were periodically looking after him and barely let him do anything. Even moving or getting up from the bed seemed to alarm his mother, who constantly warned him to rest and prepare for today’s examination.Chan Wu already contacted some of his friends and colleagues for the necessary parts for the artificial- and hopefully working- eye he’s going to implant in Bin.Sure, Bin could live without an eye but it’s too disadvantageous to have a blind spot. Furthermore, the current technology rendered it possible to produce an artificial eye that is as functionally efficient as a normal, if not more. The darkened canopy was slowly bei
Bin’s eyes fluttered then slowly opened. He felt weight on his thighs and chest and when he looked down, he saw Jasmine sound asleep. She had a habit of hugging him in the middle of sleep and half of her body would be pressed against his. It has been a year and a half since they started dating and the embarrassment of sleeping naked or half-naked was no more. Their relationship only got better and they even moved to a new place with Nina, though it wasn’t far from Emilia and Elise. He wasn’t interested in getting a proper job, nevertheless, he did find an entertaining habit, which was quickly developed. With Jasmine’s support and Bert’s countless acquaintances, Bin had opened a cozy small café in a relatively empty street. It wasn’t the best of locations, but he did not care. Bin was fo
Brule River Boreal Forest State, Russia. The forest, excluding wild beasts, was generally devoid of humans. However, today, it was the total opposite. The Russian Government dispatched its military and barricaded the huge region. Jets were flying through the air, trying to scout the ground and eliminate the legions of Pests stationed around the river and in-between the countless trees. However, the most eye-catching thing was the crimson crack hanging in the sky, its blood-red light outshining even the sun. Its mere presence brought for a foreboding and eerie atmosphere as well as a thick fog of the same color. Although well-equipped, the Russian Government did not act recklessly or rashly. They kne
“I won’t be away for long, okay?” “Promise?” Nina, looking a bit sad, lowered her head and tried not to cry. To appease her, Bin gave her a tight hug and repeatedly reassured her that everything will be alright. It has been ten days since his return to Earth and though no one forced him to act, he deemed now as the right time to get rid of the Rifts once and for all. Fortunately, there were no spotted Rifts in M-nation, therefore, Bin would soon have to leave for other countries. “Next time, I’ll bring you to fun places! I will bring gifts back with me, too!” Jasmine also hugged Nina and playfully pulled her c
“Sorry for the wait.”-Angelica “It’s fine.” Replied Bin as he sat back down next to Jasmine and smiled at her parents. While they discussed things, he spent some time chatting with the servants and managed to clear things up with Hyue. It was a good decision to come here and mend past relationships now that he was moving on and turning a new leaf. Unlike earlier, Theodore looked calmer but he was still glaring at him. As for Angelica, her expression was never-changing and, as always, unreadable. “My husband and I are not against your relationship, Bin. I only ask that you take good care of her.” “It shall be done, Madam.” “It better do! If I hear
Bin and Jasmine walked for a while before they returned to the car.“I should be the one ‘walking you home’. Sadly, I don’t have a driver’s license.”Bin sighed and watched as she drove him back to the villa. The trip back home felt brief as they talked on the way, but when they reached their destination, the two were silent.“If you have nothing to do, let’s meet tomorrow.” Suggested Bin as he looked at the white-haired Silver Dragon.Of course, Jasmine agreed with a meek nod. As he was about to get off, she abruptly stretched her arm and grabbed his, thus making him halt his actions.“Jasmine?”
Late at night, after the family had dinner and everyone retreated to their rooms, Bin went downstairs and, as he had expected, found Emilia in the kitchen. She absent-mindedly looked at the dining table and not even his arrival was noticed. Only when he pulled a chair and sat right next to her did she twitch and look at him. “Mother, you’re still worried?” He faintly smiled and gently grasped her hands, which eased the frown on her face. “How can I not be when my son refuses to listen to reason? Everytime, I get to see you for a brief time and then you leave.” “
Barely half a day after he woke up, Bin was in perfect health. However, Ann insisted that stays for two additional days, to which he nodded in obedience. As expected, he received many visits from Bert and the rest. Elise and, especially, Emilia, came every couple of hours to check on him and bring food. “Umm… so, there’s a matter that warrants an explanation. But, I think it’s better to wait till you come home.” Elise, fidgeting, peeled an orange while uttering those vague words. “It would have been better if you stayed silent.” “I was just warning you. At least, that way, you won’t be as surprised. Just brace yourself… okay?” Life as A Servant
When Bin finally regained his consciousness and opened his eyes, he found himself in an overly-extravagant and spacious hospital room. He took a couple of seconds to look around before slowly sitting up.He wasn’t particularly injured and the overwhelming exhaustion he was subjected to prior and after opening the portal was completely gone, fortunately.“Bin.”Somewhat softly called out to him, thus did his gaze jump to the source of the voice. He was facing Elise, Emilia, and, unexpectedly, the now grown-up Ryne. The three were sitting on a wide leather sofa and chatting quietly only to be startled by his sudden awakening. His mother ran to his side and supported him, fearing that he was experiencing pain. “Hurry up, Bin!” Although she was fending off the horde of Pests, Jasmine could not fight forever. She remained close to Bin and continuously swung her sword at any incoming enemies. At the same time, Bin was strengthening his connection with the white crystal. Slowly but surely, a gentle wave of white light flowed from within his body and started taking the shape of a human-sized portal. Unfortunately, Jasmine was reaching her limits and ended up getting blasted far away. Her body crashed on the ground and rolled a couple of times. Although she hastily got back on her feet and ran back, it wasn’t fast enough to stop the Pests from reaching Bin. With all his concentration focused on the connection, Bin could not defend himChapter 495 : Reunion
