“Am I supposed to believe that?”
Hyue curled her lips as she looked back at him, her voice sounding less angrier than before. She turned her whole body toward him, her hands lowered, resting on top of each other and clenching the maid dress in a subtle manner.
“I thought you would want to hear that. You were the first person who encouraged me to lead a normal life so it’s only right to tell you first.”
“Is that right?” She harrumphed and squinted at him as if she still did not believe everything he had said, “I doubt you’ll stop everything and live quietly. You will still go after Queen and the Psychic Facility.”
“Yes. I will. But, that doesn’t
“Why did you not wait till everything was done?”Bin grunted and shrugged his shoulders, nonchalantly saying,” What if I die?”“Don’t say that. You will not die. And confessing to her once you’re done would be more advantageous. I think she rejected you cause she didn’t want to get a boyfriend who’s constantly in danger of death every day.”“That’s an erroneous and a ludicrously hypocritical theory.”“Erro- what?”“Erroneous.” He rolled his eyes at the dumb look she was giving him, let out a sigh and briefly explained.
The horrific sight rendered everyone paralyzed, their eyes locked onto the half-crouching Bin. The ominous black smoke didn’t creep closer to them, however, it made them petrified, incapable of stepping forth and lending a helping hand. Even Emilia, who was more experienced than girls and Chan Wu in Mana Control and Magic overall, could not resist the darkness’ aura. They could only motionlessly stand there and, more surprised than ever, witnessed how Bin was letting out soft growls as he clutched onto the black smoke. Alas, his attempts were in vain as the mass of darkness, which resembled very dense black smoke, was unaffected by his touch. Time seemed to slow down as small pieces of the now-gone silver prosthetic arm fell on the ground, resulting in an abnormally loud echoing, shortly followed by a truly astonishing sigh
“Again?”With a threatening gaze, Julia glared at Bin, her eyes glowing with a blue glow as they focused on his left arm.“How come each time I don’t see you for a couple days, you show up with something new. Oh! Before you throw your unnecessary remarks, let me remind you that it was not a compliment.”Bin smiled back at the teacher and got into the passenger seat and responded,“A compliment or a reproach, I’ll be accepting it nonetheless. It’s good to see you dressed fancy and in a good mood, teacher.”The bespectacled woman snorted and slammed the door at his face. She briefly conversed with Emilia bef
“Alright. I think we have a good grasp of what your arm can do.”“It’s basically a magical amplifier.”The young student shrugged his shoulders and walked back to the center of the battling stage, finally ready to spar against his teacher. They had been conducting tests for the last two hours, some were trivial and fruitless and others gave them hints from which they started speculating. All in all, Bin’s new right arm boosted any type of magic unleashed from it. It did not drastically change the spell, however, it seemed to significantly enhance the potency and range of Black Magic abilities, such as the Death Energy, the Death Claw, and the Black Vortex. In addition, when
“Ugh.. what is it again?”That night, Bin could not rest even for a minute. Everyone living in his apartment was constantly bothering him, some bashing the door and others rudely entering without as much as a knock. But, the most obnoxious person had got to be Iris, Abyss’ agent and a 4-star commander, with a rank equal to Marshall Don Lunar. This sadistic woman was annoyingly childish and would complain about almost everything, and what made things worse was her abnormally loud voice, which seemed to get louder tonight, especially. For the first three times she barged into Bin’s room, she incessantly whined about Bert and how he was hiding the TV remote and stealing her favourite spot. It got to the point where Bin had to lock his door, but eve
“Me? Do you think I like him?”Jasmine averted her gaze and lowered her head, seemingly embarrassed, but after a couple of breaths, she shook her head, purging her silent thoughts, and explained herself,“I do like him, but not in a romantic way. He’s a close friend… that’s it.”Hyue eyed her in total silence, though it was clear that she didn’t completely believe everything Jasmine had said.“Forgive my bluntness, miss, but I don’t think it’s the case. It’s just that you have not realized your true feelings yet.”Surprisingly, Jasmine did not deny that or burst in anger. S
“So, what’s the plan?”Lexander barely got any time to glance at the papers before Bert pushed them to the side and carefully put his second cup of coffee on the short table.“It’s going to take a long time so why don’t you sit, kind sir Lexander?”Bert sounded sarcastic but the assassin team leader didn’t seem to pay any heed to him. Nevertheless, Lexander did grab a random chair and sit on it, finally making himself comfortable.None of the three wanted to waste time chitchatting about random stuff so they immediately proceeded to converse about the plan and the target of the up-coming assassination. The discussion was relatively long and filled with a handful of deb
“This is your friend?”Lexander raised his eyebrows and scrutinized the tiny silhouette that just entered the apartment. His intense stare made the newly-arrived guest fidget and try to hide behind Bin.“There’s no need to be afraid.”Seeing her act so unnaturally shy and awkward, Bin gave her a pat on the shoulder and motioned for her to sit next to him, which she silently did, though her head was still lowered.“This is Dr. Ann, a genius in her field and a friend of mine.”It has been a while since Bin met Ann or her older sister, Scarlett, nevertheless, their relationship wasn’t that bad despite what had ha
Bin’s eyes fluttered then slowly opened. He felt weight on his thighs and chest and when he looked down, he saw Jasmine sound asleep. She had a habit of hugging him in the middle of sleep and half of her body would be pressed against his. It has been a year and a half since they started dating and the embarrassment of sleeping naked or half-naked was no more. Their relationship only got better and they even moved to a new place with Nina, though it wasn’t far from Emilia and Elise. He wasn’t interested in getting a proper job, nevertheless, he did find an entertaining habit, which was quickly developed. With Jasmine’s support and Bert’s countless acquaintances, Bin had opened a cozy small café in a relatively empty street. It wasn’t the best of locations, but he did not care. Bin was fo
Brule River Boreal Forest State, Russia. The forest, excluding wild beasts, was generally devoid of humans. However, today, it was the total opposite. The Russian Government dispatched its military and barricaded the huge region. Jets were flying through the air, trying to scout the ground and eliminate the legions of Pests stationed around the river and in-between the countless trees. However, the most eye-catching thing was the crimson crack hanging in the sky, its blood-red light outshining even the sun. Its mere presence brought for a foreboding and eerie atmosphere as well as a thick fog of the same color. Although well-equipped, the Russian Government did not act recklessly or rashly. They kne
“I won’t be away for long, okay?” “Promise?” Nina, looking a bit sad, lowered her head and tried not to cry. To appease her, Bin gave her a tight hug and repeatedly reassured her that everything will be alright. It has been ten days since his return to Earth and though no one forced him to act, he deemed now as the right time to get rid of the Rifts once and for all. Fortunately, there were no spotted Rifts in M-nation, therefore, Bin would soon have to leave for other countries. “Next time, I’ll bring you to fun places! I will bring gifts back with me, too!” Jasmine also hugged Nina and playfully pulled her c
“Sorry for the wait.”-Angelica “It’s fine.” Replied Bin as he sat back down next to Jasmine and smiled at her parents. While they discussed things, he spent some time chatting with the servants and managed to clear things up with Hyue. It was a good decision to come here and mend past relationships now that he was moving on and turning a new leaf. Unlike earlier, Theodore looked calmer but he was still glaring at him. As for Angelica, her expression was never-changing and, as always, unreadable. “My husband and I are not against your relationship, Bin. I only ask that you take good care of her.” “It shall be done, Madam.” “It better do! If I hear
Bin and Jasmine walked for a while before they returned to the car.“I should be the one ‘walking you home’. Sadly, I don’t have a driver’s license.”Bin sighed and watched as she drove him back to the villa. The trip back home felt brief as they talked on the way, but when they reached their destination, the two were silent.“If you have nothing to do, let’s meet tomorrow.” Suggested Bin as he looked at the white-haired Silver Dragon.Of course, Jasmine agreed with a meek nod. As he was about to get off, she abruptly stretched her arm and grabbed his, thus making him halt his actions.“Jasmine?”
Late at night, after the family had dinner and everyone retreated to their rooms, Bin went downstairs and, as he had expected, found Emilia in the kitchen. She absent-mindedly looked at the dining table and not even his arrival was noticed. Only when he pulled a chair and sat right next to her did she twitch and look at him. “Mother, you’re still worried?” He faintly smiled and gently grasped her hands, which eased the frown on her face. “How can I not be when my son refuses to listen to reason? Everytime, I get to see you for a brief time and then you leave.” “
Barely half a day after he woke up, Bin was in perfect health. However, Ann insisted that stays for two additional days, to which he nodded in obedience. As expected, he received many visits from Bert and the rest. Elise and, especially, Emilia, came every couple of hours to check on him and bring food. “Umm… so, there’s a matter that warrants an explanation. But, I think it’s better to wait till you come home.” Elise, fidgeting, peeled an orange while uttering those vague words. “It would have been better if you stayed silent.” “I was just warning you. At least, that way, you won’t be as surprised. Just brace yourself… okay?” Life as A Servant
When Bin finally regained his consciousness and opened his eyes, he found himself in an overly-extravagant and spacious hospital room. He took a couple of seconds to look around before slowly sitting up.He wasn’t particularly injured and the overwhelming exhaustion he was subjected to prior and after opening the portal was completely gone, fortunately.“Bin.”Somewhat softly called out to him, thus did his gaze jump to the source of the voice. He was facing Elise, Emilia, and, unexpectedly, the now grown-up Ryne. The three were sitting on a wide leather sofa and chatting quietly only to be startled by his sudden awakening. His mother ran to his side and supported him, fearing that he was experiencing pain. “Hurry up, Bin!” Although she was fending off the horde of Pests, Jasmine could not fight forever. She remained close to Bin and continuously swung her sword at any incoming enemies. At the same time, Bin was strengthening his connection with the white crystal. Slowly but surely, a gentle wave of white light flowed from within his body and started taking the shape of a human-sized portal. Unfortunately, Jasmine was reaching her limits and ended up getting blasted far away. Her body crashed on the ground and rolled a couple of times. Although she hastily got back on her feet and ran back, it wasn’t fast enough to stop the Pests from reaching Bin. With all his concentration focused on the connection, Bin could not defend himChapter 495 : Reunion
