Having had enough of talking, the Blood Prince, named Jasbin, unsheathed his steel sword and charged at Bin.
Although the distance between them was relatively large, the youth crossed it in no time. Furthermore, he did not hold back his power, a raging gale of Mana accompanied his weapon.
Bin frowned and raised his hand, swiftly channeling his Mana and raising multiple walls of sand. Alas, the sand was obliterated upon contact and the sword soon reached Bin’s body. However, it was finally stopped by a solid pentagon-shaped shield of light.
Jaskil grinned, pulled his sword for a split second then swept horizontally, though that did not change the result. Bin’s shield moved instantaneously, protecting him from all sides.
Within the City of Scholars, there were dozens of those eye-catching golden spires; They had different shapes and sizes and their one similarity is how they constantly pulsate large amounts of Mana in and outside of them. After dealing with the Blood Prince, Bin headed back to the city and started his attempt in sneaking into the Towers of Knowledge. He could not target the large ones as they were heavily guarded and trying to break in would garner a lot of unwanted attention and potentially ruin everything. Therefore, he set his sight on the smaller towers, the ones near the city walls. They too, were protected by a couple of guards and several identification devices. However, they lacked the fortified magical shields found on the rest. For Bin, neither the guards nor the integrated identification devices were a problem, only
Bin continued going to the upper floors, but his progress significantly decreased due to the multi-layered barriers. To make matters worse, they were getting more powerful and intricate, thus taking more time to imitate their Mana Frequency. One of the rooms resembled a storage, filled to the brim with crates and boxes. Of course, he inspected the contents of the crates but, even after that, he could not understand their purpose due to his limited knowledge. Most of the crates had large bottles filled with a colorless and liquid that stuck to the transparent glass. Bin took two with him and continued his search, which didn’t bear any fruit for the next twenty or so minutes. At some point, on the 7th floor, he was met with a particularly tricky barrier. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to go through it, therefore, he
“Spread around the palace’s perimeter and don’t let anyone escape. If they resist then kill them!”Jasmine was standing in front of an enormous black palace in the middle of a desolate and gloomy forest south of Weij City. The forest was the only thing that separated the city from a long and relatively non-visited coastline. The Captain of the Special Defense Team of the International Magic Bureau has finally decided to take a drastic step into eliminating the cult.Jasmine Lemore, widely known as the Silver Dragon, was soon left alone at the entrance of the palace. She absent-mindedly stared at the closed gates then, out of the blue, her body burst with dangerous quantities of Mana. “Here we go again…”One day after his successful infiltration into one of the Towers of Knowledge, Bin replenished his Mana and returned again to continue his investigation. Although the lower floors gave him no clues or a confirmation of his accumulating suspicions, he was fairly certain that this was not a simple place for the influx of refugees. Therefore, after checking up on the constantly busy Professor Tanna and her two new and young helpers, he set off to one of the golden spires again, though this time he was determined to find conclusive evidence. There was the issue with the intricate and strong defensive barriers, laid down on top of each other. Nevertheless, Bin was content with sacrificing a lot of time to imitate the Mana Frequency andLife as A Servant Chapter 448 : Inside The Tower (2)
“Professor, it won’t do us good to focus on too many things at once. We need to continue our work…”Lenna walked back to his temporary work station and got to work, but Tanna kept pacing around with quickened steps.“Speaking of which, how is the situation with the Rift above us? Is it expanding or about to burst? Surely there must be some sort of mechanism put to gauge its ever-expanding effects.”“It is actually expanding.” Arbert was the one to respond, his fear of Bin slightly decreasing over time. “Although it’s hard to notice it, the Rift is slowly but surely getting bigger. However, the most effective way to monitor it is through the tallest and biggest tower in the city. The Tower of History, which is where
The Tower of Magic was adjacent to the Tower of History; It took the shape of an inclined golden spire, over six hundred meters in height and thirty meters in width, making it the third largest structure in the City of Scholars.Equipped with the shallow mask provided by Tanna, Bin swiftly made his way to the tower, but he did not rely on stealth like his previous endeavour in one of the smaller golden towers. The anti-magic armor set they needed to complete the Blade of Light was stored in the Tower of Magic, and trying to sneak in by imitating the Mana Frequency will not only be a waste of time but also pointless. After all, the tower was heavily guarded from all sides, by automated defensive golems and several hired magic-users.The fastest and most effective approach is a direct confr
Jasbin recognized Bin almost immediately, but he did not say it outloud. It was the same for his three companions. However, the rest of the magic-users considered Bin as a hostile invader and sprung into action the second the wall of sand was destroyed.Amongst the dozens of magic-users, two in particular were eye-catching and clearly strong. They shot toward Bin with an impressive speed, one swept a strangely curved spear while the other, a tall blue-haired woman, cast Ice Magic, causing the ground to freeze and numerous Ice Arrow to fly at the target.Bin backed away toward the now-open room while blocking the arrows with small and floaty masses of golden sand. The spear-using man reached him quite fast, his spear unleashing devastating blasts. In retaliation, Bin made gre
High Scholar Sander Zadar had barged into Elmina’s office and started throwing a furious tantrum. Just a couple of hours ago, a masked individual had broken into the Tower of Magic and stole his finest product while it was under the surveillance of multiple advanced golems and magic-users. “Why are you not sending people after him? This is ridiculous!” The elderly long-bearded High Scholar banged his shaking fist on the table, but that didn’t even make Elmina flinch. She coldly stared back at him and patiently waited till he calmed down. “Sander, we have sent our best people after him. We can only wait and hope for the best.” “What do you mean ‘hope for the best’?! How can he even break into the Tower in the
Bin’s eyes fluttered then slowly opened. He felt weight on his thighs and chest and when he looked down, he saw Jasmine sound asleep. She had a habit of hugging him in the middle of sleep and half of her body would be pressed against his. It has been a year and a half since they started dating and the embarrassment of sleeping naked or half-naked was no more. Their relationship only got better and they even moved to a new place with Nina, though it wasn’t far from Emilia and Elise. He wasn’t interested in getting a proper job, nevertheless, he did find an entertaining habit, which was quickly developed. With Jasmine’s support and Bert’s countless acquaintances, Bin had opened a cozy small café in a relatively empty street. It wasn’t the best of locations, but he did not care. Bin was fo
Brule River Boreal Forest State, Russia. The forest, excluding wild beasts, was generally devoid of humans. However, today, it was the total opposite. The Russian Government dispatched its military and barricaded the huge region. Jets were flying through the air, trying to scout the ground and eliminate the legions of Pests stationed around the river and in-between the countless trees. However, the most eye-catching thing was the crimson crack hanging in the sky, its blood-red light outshining even the sun. Its mere presence brought for a foreboding and eerie atmosphere as well as a thick fog of the same color. Although well-equipped, the Russian Government did not act recklessly or rashly. They kne
“I won’t be away for long, okay?” “Promise?” Nina, looking a bit sad, lowered her head and tried not to cry. To appease her, Bin gave her a tight hug and repeatedly reassured her that everything will be alright. It has been ten days since his return to Earth and though no one forced him to act, he deemed now as the right time to get rid of the Rifts once and for all. Fortunately, there were no spotted Rifts in M-nation, therefore, Bin would soon have to leave for other countries. “Next time, I’ll bring you to fun places! I will bring gifts back with me, too!” Jasmine also hugged Nina and playfully pulled her c
“Sorry for the wait.”-Angelica “It’s fine.” Replied Bin as he sat back down next to Jasmine and smiled at her parents. While they discussed things, he spent some time chatting with the servants and managed to clear things up with Hyue. It was a good decision to come here and mend past relationships now that he was moving on and turning a new leaf. Unlike earlier, Theodore looked calmer but he was still glaring at him. As for Angelica, her expression was never-changing and, as always, unreadable. “My husband and I are not against your relationship, Bin. I only ask that you take good care of her.” “It shall be done, Madam.” “It better do! If I hear
Bin and Jasmine walked for a while before they returned to the car.“I should be the one ‘walking you home’. Sadly, I don’t have a driver’s license.”Bin sighed and watched as she drove him back to the villa. The trip back home felt brief as they talked on the way, but when they reached their destination, the two were silent.“If you have nothing to do, let’s meet tomorrow.” Suggested Bin as he looked at the white-haired Silver Dragon.Of course, Jasmine agreed with a meek nod. As he was about to get off, she abruptly stretched her arm and grabbed his, thus making him halt his actions.“Jasmine?”
Late at night, after the family had dinner and everyone retreated to their rooms, Bin went downstairs and, as he had expected, found Emilia in the kitchen. She absent-mindedly looked at the dining table and not even his arrival was noticed. Only when he pulled a chair and sat right next to her did she twitch and look at him. “Mother, you’re still worried?” He faintly smiled and gently grasped her hands, which eased the frown on her face. “How can I not be when my son refuses to listen to reason? Everytime, I get to see you for a brief time and then you leave.” “
Barely half a day after he woke up, Bin was in perfect health. However, Ann insisted that stays for two additional days, to which he nodded in obedience. As expected, he received many visits from Bert and the rest. Elise and, especially, Emilia, came every couple of hours to check on him and bring food. “Umm… so, there’s a matter that warrants an explanation. But, I think it’s better to wait till you come home.” Elise, fidgeting, peeled an orange while uttering those vague words. “It would have been better if you stayed silent.” “I was just warning you. At least, that way, you won’t be as surprised. Just brace yourself… okay?” Life as A Servant
When Bin finally regained his consciousness and opened his eyes, he found himself in an overly-extravagant and spacious hospital room. He took a couple of seconds to look around before slowly sitting up.He wasn’t particularly injured and the overwhelming exhaustion he was subjected to prior and after opening the portal was completely gone, fortunately.“Bin.”Somewhat softly called out to him, thus did his gaze jump to the source of the voice. He was facing Elise, Emilia, and, unexpectedly, the now grown-up Ryne. The three were sitting on a wide leather sofa and chatting quietly only to be startled by his sudden awakening. His mother ran to his side and supported him, fearing that he was experiencing pain. “Hurry up, Bin!” Although she was fending off the horde of Pests, Jasmine could not fight forever. She remained close to Bin and continuously swung her sword at any incoming enemies. At the same time, Bin was strengthening his connection with the white crystal. Slowly but surely, a gentle wave of white light flowed from within his body and started taking the shape of a human-sized portal. Unfortunately, Jasmine was reaching her limits and ended up getting blasted far away. Her body crashed on the ground and rolled a couple of times. Although she hastily got back on her feet and ran back, it wasn’t fast enough to stop the Pests from reaching Bin. With all his concentration focused on the connection, Bin could not defend himChapter 495 : Reunion
