Chapter Five

I went in and saw my father in law watching me as I walked inside from the balcony.

"Where are you coming from and who dropped you?" He asked.

I walked inside and I met him walking downstairs to the sitting room.

"That's my boss sir. I'm just coming from work." I answered and bowed. I dared not look into his eyes when talking to him.

"You are cheating on my daughter." He concluded.

"What? My boss dropped me off sir." I explained.

"So because we didn't give you the two million dollars you decided to go get married into another family." He yelled.

"What are you saying sir? I didn't do such a thing." I said.

"Out of my house. Now." He said.

"Sir please try to understand. it wasn't a woman who brought me home it was my boss." I tried to explain but he pushed me out. He took me to the backyard and I was locked up in the dog cage.

"Sir. Please listen." I begged holding the cold steel bar as I knelt inside the cage.

He hissed and left. "That's what low life's like you deserve. 

"Listen please." I tried to beg him but he didn't listen. I struggled to take out my phone from my pocket and I tried dialing Rosa's number but she didn't pick. I didn't want to disturb my mom and brother neither did I want to disturb my 'new dad'.

Paulo,our cleaner came and snatched my phone away from me.

"Caught cheating and now you're calling your concubine?" He grunted.

"What are you saying? You don't believe me too?" I asked and he smiled.

"Who would believe a scum like you. People like you go around rich people's life and deceive their daughters and run away with their money." He said and left. I brought out the black card in my pocket and stared at it. "My life changed suddenly but my family hasn't." I said to myself.

I had to share the  cage with the dog. The dog barked and disturbed me throughout the night. The night was also cold and I was freezing. I rubbed my body several times for warmth but I got none. Thank God I and the dog were friends I cuddled it and got a little sleep.

Day broke and I was waiting for my father-in-law to open the cage so I could go take over my dad's company. I couldn't wait to start exerting revenge. I would no longer be a push over.

"Please open the cage. I beg you. I promise I won't come back home late again,neither would I let any car drop me off." I begged to no avail.

Rosa's cousin,Grachi came and smiled. She squatted to the cage level.

"Look how ridiculous you are. I told you I loved you but you went for Rosa. What's in Rosa that not in me?" She yelled.

"I don't love you,I love Rosa. How many times would I have to explain this?" I asked.

"Then prepare to suffer because I have a lot in store for you." She smiled evily. She went and came back with a plate of food.

"Rosa made this and asked me keep this for you when you come back." She squatted so I could see. My stomach grumbled at the sight of the food. The sweet aroma made me very hungry.

"Please open the cage so I can come out." I begged.

She turned the plate and the food poured over. "Why did you do that?" I asked.

"I did it because I can." She smiled mischievously.

"Uncle Daniels asked me to open the cage already but I won't. You know why?" She asked and I just stared at her. I wanted to cry but I had to be strong,for myself.

"Because I can. I'll only release you on one condition." She said.

"What condition?" I asked.

"Kiss me." She requested.

"I will just open the cage." I said.

"I'm not stupid. Kiss me from here. The spaces between the bars of the cage is big enough for your lips." She said.

"I'm sorry I can't cheat on my wife." I said. "Release me please. I have somewhere to be." I begged.

"What's so special about Rosa? Rosa! Rosa!! Rosa my foot." She yelled.

"You'll rot here." She left me in pain and agony.

I was so uncomfortable. I wanted to go meet my dad. I was just one step away in becoming a billionaire,one step of becoming successful and my family ruined it. "What if my dad thinks I'm irresponsible? What if he changes his mind?" 

"Grachi please come back." I begged but she didn't open the cage. I was tired,angry and hungry at the same time. There was no phone to call and no one who liked me enough in the house to pity me. This only increased my hatred for them. I wanted to ruin the whole of Parks, I wanted them destroyed. "Is it bad to love? Is it a crime? Is it a crime to be poor?" I wailed and the dog growled.

It was evening already and i've not been released. I heard a car drive in so I began to yell. "Help me! Help!" I yelled and my mother in law came.

She laughed till her heart content. "This fits you honestly." She laughed.

"I've been here since yesterday,please release me." I begged.

"Me. Release you? Never! You'll rot in there." She waved.

"Mother please." I begged.

"I'm not your mother please. I can never be a mother to a low life like you." She protested.

She left and came back later. She held a key in her hand which I guessed it was the cage key.

"Thank you so much ma. Thank you." I said as she opened the door slowly.

I came out and stretched. My bones cracked making weird sounds. My body still hasn't gotten used to standing erect so I bent a little bit. "Thank you ma." I said and she kicked my leg. I fell down on the dog poop which was on the floor. My face fell directly into it.

"So filthy. Hm!" She used her hand to cover her nose and left. I rushed into my room and took a bath. I scrubbed harder and I still felt unclean. It was so uncomfortable.

I came out and changed into a white shirt and a black trouser my mom had bought for me when I first gained admission into college. I wore my black shoes.

It was short and tight. I tiptoed and there was no one in the sitting room. I had to make it to Lionel's mansion.

I ran out of the house and boarded a taxi. I went to a big shopping mall and went to dress myself. I had to look good. I went in and bought an expensive white shirt. I bought a blue trouser and a red tie with a blue blazer. I bought a black leather shoe. I wore it in the changing room. 

"How dare you wear this? Do you even have the money to pay for this?" A blonde attendant asked me. She was in uniform.

"I'm going to pay." I said.

"Where would you get such an amount? You could have gone to the local shop. Who would want to buy this when you lowlife has worn it?" She yelled and almost everyone in the mall was staring at me. They began to mumble and whisper.

I put my hand in my pocket and brought out my black card. Those who saw it gasped. "Deduct whatever amount the clothes cost." I said.

"I'm so sorry sir. I didn't know you had such amount. I didn't know you were a huge personality." She begged.

"You'd get your reward later. I have somewhere to be." I said.

"I'm so sorry sir. Please forgive me." She begged. 

I looked up and noticed my father's logo on a board in the mall. He was wearing a pin with the same logo in the shopping mall the day we met at a restaurant.

"Mind you, my name is Roberto Lionel." I announced and everyone was belwildered.

"I thought Raymond Lionel has no child. Who is he?" A woman said.

I left without saying and a word while the attendant kept begging me while I walked away. I entered the taxi and pushed her away. I was tired of being a pushover. I'm going to exert my revenge on whoever offends me.

I'm going to act the way I'm being treated.
