0003

The news came as a shock to Mia’s parents, and her mom was the first to speak in her defense. “Father, it would be unfair to ask her to sit at the back there without those failures at the back. She makes the most money in this family and there is no here that has ever beaten her record.”

“I don’t know how Mia might have offended you, father but I think it is extreme that you asked her to sit there.” Mia’s Father added.

“You two should join her on that table. She is your daughter, you should take responsibility for her actions too.” Lord Leinhart frowned.

“Can’t you tell us what she did?” Mia’s mother asked. “If it’s something that you can’t disclose, please forgive her actions, father. It is my fault for not raising her right.”

“What she did is unforgivable, accept your punishment and don’t speak to me about it again.” Lord Leinhart ordered.

“She must have lost some big investment." One of the family members whispered to another.

“In knew it. It was bound to happen one day. The finance department told me how she loved to spend the company funds on reckless investments, she must have run out of luck.”

“Are you saying that she might have closet a lot of money?”

“That is what it looks like. Why else would grandfather have her seat at the last table?”

“Let’s eat now.” Lord Leinhart announced to dismiss the gossip, he knew they were trying to guess why he had taken such a decision against Mia and her parents but there was no way he was going to let them know that Mia had registered her marriage with a nobody.

“Grandpa, may I join the first table?” Meslissa, Mia’s cousin asked with excitement in her voice. She was around Mia’s age and was always trying hard to beat her at all things.

“Father, Mel has managed to make a one million dollar profit this month.” Melissa’s mother quickly backed her. “She deserves the spot.”

“You may take Mia’s spot but you should be more like Mia when it comes to business, last year, she made more than a hundred million dollars profit and her numbers are going up again this year.” Lord Leinhart said then he stood up, healing to the dining room.

Melissa was jealous that her grandfather still compared her to Mia even after she was the one sitting in the first table. While they were on their way to the table, Melissa went close to Mia.

“Guess who is taking your space on the first table? Me! I finally get to taste the rarest meals that you have been enjoying. I hope the soiled bread is to your liking.” Melissa mocked.

“I already got tired of eating from grandpa’s table, enjoying my leftovers. It suits you well.” Mia walked away from her and sat opposite her parents on the last table.

Neither of them looked happy, she avoided their gaze, then she settled with her bread, munching on it while she thought about her marriage.

“Tch, tch, you must be starving from the way you are munching on that soiled bread heartily.” her mother nagged.

She pretended like she didn’t hear her mom.

“What did you do to your grandfather that made him do this to us?” Her mom questioned her. “Your father and I had to give our vacation up to meet up with our monthly profit and this we get for it?”

“I told you to go on the vacation anyway, I would make your own profits, it is just seven million anyway. I made over twenty five million this month.”

“Is that something to brag about when we are sitting on this table even with our hard work? Why must you get on Father's bad side.” her father scolded.

Just as she was about to reply hi, a noise came from the gate, the butler was trying to stop someone from entering. The person seemed to be a young man.

“Who are you and why are you here?” The Butler demanded.

“You look like you are a mere butler, why are you stopping me from going in?” the young man asked.

“This gathering is for the Leinharts, are you a member of the Leinhart family? You don’t seem a bit familiar to the members of the family abroad.” the butler replied.

Some members of the Leinhart family chose to raise their children abroad so it was not possible that the Butler identified all of them without confirming their identity.

The young man stroked his chin, hesitating before he answered the butler’s question. “Hmmm, you may say I am part of the family.”

“I see. How much profit do you generate monthly?’ The Butler asked so he could know where to ask him to sit.

“That’s a tough question, I make a little over a hundred million dollars. So what table am I sitting at?” the young man replied with pride.

The members of the family burst into laughter except Mia who had identified the young man who was speaking. She covered her head in embarrassment. “I clearly told him to stay away.” she muttered beneath her breath.

“Hundred million dollars? You think this is a place where you can just come in and pull childish stunts?” the butler yelled at him furiously. “Before things get rough, if you are here to make trouble, please leave immediately.” the butler warned.

“I am here for serious business. There is no way I would be here for no reason.” The young man replied to him.

“We have an event going on here and you are disturbing us at the moment, you may come back later or wait outside the gate if you aren't in a hurry. When we are done, you can say your request.” The butler instructed him.

“I am here to find my wife.” The young man said, grabbing everyone's attention, causing them to whisper amongst themselves.

“Who is your wife?” the butler questioned him.

“Mia Leinhart.” the young man replied then he flashed a smirk at Mia. Mia returned his smirk with a glare that was sharp enough to cut through the silence in the hall.
