RICHARD'S POV

The young girl lay on the bed, her face twisted in pain. I could feel the eyes of her family boring into me, a mix of hope and doubt. I took a deep breath, activating the system within me. This was it. Time to prove myself.

"Alright," I said, my voice steady, "I'll heal her. But I need some things first."

The family looked at me, clearly confused. I could see the questions in their eyes, but they stayed silent, waiting for me to continue.

"I need you to boil vinegar and mix it with hot water. Quickly."

There was a moment of stunned silence. Then, the mother spoke up, her voice tinged with skepticism. "Vinegar? Are you sure?"

I nodded firmly. "Yes. Trust me. It's part of the process."

She hesitated, glancing at her son and then at the girl, her daughter who let out a soft whimper. The brother clutched his sister's hand tightly, his knuckles white.

"Please," I urged, "she's in pain. The sooner we start, the better."

The brother finally nodded and hurried out of the room. T

Richard’s POVI took a deep breath and smiled, feeling that familiar rush of anticipation. "You know what, Dennis? Count me in. I want to join the business consortium."Dennis raised an eyebrow, then smirked. "Well, well, look who’s stepping into the big leagues. Richard, you never told me your other names… Richard?""I'm Richard," I said, extending my hand. "Richard Thorne."Dennis paused for a moment, a look of curiosity crossing his face. "Thorne, huh? I’ve heard of an Archibald Thorne. Any relation?"I couldn’t help but chuckle. "You could say that. Archibald is my father."Dennis let out a low whistle. "The Archibald Thorne? The one they call the 'Corporate Shark'?"I shrugged, trying to play it cool. "Yeah, that's him. But I prefer to think of him as Dad."Dennis laughed, a hearty, genuine sound. "Well, Richard, you've got some big shoes to fill. Your father's reputation precedes him, but not much else. He’s a bit of a legend in these parts.""A legend, huh?" I said, leaning aga

RICHARD’S POV trudged up the cobblestone path to my father's villa, excited to give him the great news of my latest accomplishment—securing a membership into the consortium. I could hear Jonathan and William’s voices even before I reached the door, their complaints echoing through the open windows. Wonderful, just what I needed. As I stepped inside, I could see them in the sitting room, whining to Dad.“Come on, Dad, we need the money for the business consortium headquarters entrance fee,” Jonathan was saying, his tone almost whiny.William chimed in, “Yeah, it’s not like we’re asking for much. Just a little investment in our future.”Dad shook his head firmly. “I’ve told you both already, I’m not giving you any more money. You need to learn to stand on your own two feet.”I decided it was time to make my presence known. I walked in, trying to hide my amusement. “Hey there, family.”Jonathan’s head whipped around, and he glared at me. “Who let you in, Richard? Can’t you see we’re ha

RICHARD’S POV I walked briskly down the crowded sidewalk, dodging people with the ease of long practice. The city’s evening rush hour, as usual, was filled with car horns and agitated voices, but I was in too good a mood to let it bother me today. My phone buzzed in my pocket, and I pulled it out to see a notification from the Ultra system.“You have 24 hours to spend another $3 million,” the message read.I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. A few people glanced at me like I was crazy, but I didn't care. This is going to be fun. I started mentally listing the most outrageous things I could buy. A yacht? A private island? Maybe I’ll just buy a fleet of sports cars and give them away to strangers. As I turned the corner onto my street, my thoughts faded. I spotted my mother standing outside our apartment building, surrounded by a depressing assortment of our belongings. My heart sank. This can’t be good.“Mom?” I called out as I jogged over to her. “What’s going on?”She looked up, he

RICHARD'S POV Suddenly, Samantha stammered through her apology, her eyes darting around like a deer caught in headlights. "I-I'm so sorry, Mr. Richard. I didn’t mean to—"I cut her off, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Oh, you didn't mean to? Well, isn't that just peachy. I didn't mean to be insulted or have my time wasted, but here we are."A small crowd had gathered, their whispers growing louder with every passing second. Some of them had their phones out, probably recording the scene. Great, I thought, just what I need—my face plastered all over social media because of an incompetent sales agent."Maybe you should get someone who knows what they're doing," I suggested, my tone as biting as a winter wind. The look of sheer panic on Samantha's face was almost enough to make me feel a twinge of guilt. Almost. At that moment I noticed the manager, a tall man with a sharp suit and a sharper gaze. He walked towards us, like a hawk approaching his prey. His name tag read, ‘Michael’. He

Richard's POVThe system notification pinged, and I glanced at the screen. "Congratulations, Richard! You have completed your task and have earned two ultra billionaire points." I chuckled, shaking my head. Another Ultra billionaire points? If only everything else in life were that simple.****The next day, I woke up with a mission. The Carter family—big names in the business world. If I could secure a partnership with them, it would be a game-changer. It wasn't just about business, though. This was personal. I had tried calling to set up an appointment, but they insisted I come in person to verify my identity as a member of the consortium. Fair enough, I thought. A personal touch goes a long way.I picked out my sharpest suit, a dark navy number with a crisp white shirt and a red tie. "Lookin' sharp, Richard," I said to my reflection, giving myself a wink. The mirror didn't respond, of course, but it didn't need to. I knew I looked good. The drive to Carter Enterprises was a breeze

RICHARD'S POV leaned back in my chair, feeling the weight of the room shift as Brenda's eyes met mine. There was a spark there, a glimmer of curiosity and perhaps a bit of skepticism."So, Richard," she began, her tone light but her gaze piercing, "you’re really part of the business consortium?"I leaned forward, a grin tugging at the corner of my mouth. "Yes, Brenda. I recently obtained membership."Her eyebrows shot up, and for a moment, she looked genuinely impressed. "Well, color me surprised. I thought they only allowed a select few, the crème de la crème."I chuckled, shaking my head. "You know, it’s not as exclusive as they make it out to be. But yes, they do have their standards."Brenda’s eyes twinkled with amusement. "Standards, huh? I was beginning to think they just let in anyone with a decent suit and a charming smile."I laughed, the sound filling the room. "Well, I do have a pretty decent suit. And my smile? It’s legendary."She rolled her eyes but couldn’t hide her gr

RICHARD'S POV"Brenda, you won't regret this," I said, giving her my best reassuring smile. "The benefits of our partnership are going to be enormous. Just wait and see."Brenda nodded, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I know, Richard. I trust you. I'll contact you soon for more details."I left her office, feeling a mixture of triumph and relief. The deal was sealed, and things were looking up. As I walked out into the bustling street, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw a message from Mr. Dennis, the Chairman of the business consortium in District 2, the same man whose daughter I had healed."Richard, there's a private banquet tonight at 7, to celebrate my daughter's recovery. Your presence would mean a lot to us."A banquet, huh? I thought. Sounds like a perfect opportunity to network and celebrate a little victory. Plus, the Chairman's gratitude could be a significant asset in the future.I stared at the screen for a moment, a smile playing on my lips. Dennis

RICHARD'S POV “John,” Mr. Dennis’ voice boomed, cutting through the room like a hot knife through butter. Everyone froze. “Seems you conveniently forgot to mention that Richard saved my Cathy when those high-priced hospital hacks were ready to ship her off to the morgue.” John, momentarily stunned, recovered quickly, plastering on a smile that was as fake as a three-dollar bill. "Ah, yes, Mr. Dennis, my apologies. You see how easily I’m swayed by emotion? But perhaps our esteemed guest, Richard, could enlighten us further. A little demonstration of these… exceptional medical skills, maybe?” He looked at me, his eyes gleaming with a challenge. “I for one would be very interested to witness such talent firsthand. And offer my most sincere praise, of course.”I could practically smell the trap he was setting, but his blatant attempt at sarcasm was almost amusing. He wanted a show, did he? Fine. Two could play at this game. Before I could respond, a groan ripped through the room. A

RICHARD’S POV—THREE YEARS LATER I ran around the living room, chasing our twins in some endless game of tag. They were shrieking with laughter, little feet pounding on the floor, and honestly, it was the best sound in the world. But just as I made a playful grab for them, Amelia walked in with a tray of biscuits and gave me one of her classic mom-glares.“Really, Richard?” she said, exasperated but trying not to smile. “If you keep chasing them like that, they’re going to fall. And then who’s getting up at night with them when they’re crying? Not me, that’s for sure.”I stopped in my tracks and threw my hands up in surrender. “Alright, alright! You win. Kids, you heard your mother. Grab a biscuit and calm down, alright? Before we all get grounded.”The twins scrambled toward the tray, wide-eyed and hungry like they hadn’t just had breakfast an hour ago. Amelia rolled her eyes at me, handing the kids each a biscuit before turning her gaze on me.“No biscuit for you, mister,” she tease

But we were here, and I’d finally get some peace of mind. The door opened, and Dr. Geller strolled in, looking... oddly cheerful. He scanned his clipboard before smiling at both of us. “Well,” he said, “I’ve got some news that I think you’re going to like.”Amelia glanced at me, raising an eyebrow. “He didn’t find anything, right? See, I told you, Richard…”“No, no,” Dr. Geller cut in, chuckling. “Nothing bad. Quite the opposite, actually.”I held my breath, narrowing my eyes at him. “Spit it out, Doc. I don’t do suspense.”He grinned, finally setting down the clipboard. “Amelia, congratulations. You’re pregnant. Again.”For a split second, I thought he was joking. But then it hit me like a tidal wave, and I shot to my feet. “Are you serious?!” I practically yelled, and probably looked like a lunatic, but I di

RICHARD’S POV—THREE WEEKS LATER Arriving home with the bouquet in one hand and Amelia’s favorite snacks in the other, I hoped today would lift her spirits, even a little. She hadn’t been herself since...well, since the loss. Three weeks, and yet it felt like everything had been hollowed out.As soon as I opened the door, the tense vibe hit me like a wall. Amelia was sitting there on the couch, pale but trying to keep calm, while her grandmother loomed over her with that steely look. The minute she spotted me, her eyes narrowed like she’d been waiting for this.“Richard,” she spat, voice low and biting, “this is all on you. You should have done better. Protected her, watched out for her—”“Enough,” I cut in, barely keeping my voice steady. I didn’t want a scene, not in front of Amelia. But I couldn’t just let this go. “If you’re going to blame someone, find a mirror.”Her face twisted, anger flaring up, and for a second I thought she’d come closer. “How dare you,” she snapped. “How da

RICHARD’S POVDinner was quiet tonight. Too quiet. Amelia had barely touched her food, just pushing it around on her plate with this distant look in her eyes. I asked her if she was alright, and she’d just given me a tired smile and said she was fine. But something didn’t sit right. Still, I let it go, figuring she’d open up when she was ready.Upstairs, I lay on the bed waiting while she went into the bathroom. She closed the door behind her, and I stretched out, hands behind my head, staring up at the ceiling. The day had been long, and I was looking forward to nothing more than a quiet evening with her, maybe watch some dumb movie and unwind. But then I heard it—a loud voice cutting through the silence, sharp and strained. It was Amelia. A cry, filled with pain.I sat up so fast, my heart instantly in my throat. “Amelia?” I called, already on my feet and moving towards the door. There was no answer, only a muffled groan that sent my pulse skyrocketing.“Amelia, are you okay?” I ask

You know that, right?"Her words hit me like a slap. I frowned, trying to keep calm. “Amelia, come on. He's still my brother. I know he messed up, but he's still family.” She shook her head, almost scoffing. "So what? Family doesn't mean you get a free pass to be a complete asshole and try to ruin someone's life.”I sighed, leaning back against the chair. "I'm not saying he should get a free pass. l'm just saying.. maybe he did what he did out of anger, or resentment, or-""Maybe?!" she cut me off, her voice rising. “Richard, he tried to kill you. He tied me up and used me as bait! I don't care if he was angry or resentful, that doesn't give him a damn excuse to behave like a psychopath!”I winced at her words. RICHARD’S POV I froze, my breath catching in my throat as the bang reverberated through the room. For a second, everything was still. Silent. I looked down. Blood. Not mine. William gasped, his eyes wide with shock as he stared at the wound in his side. The gun slipped from his hand, clattering uselessly to the floor. I stumbled back, hands slick with blood, heart pounding so hard it felt like it was about to explode. The sound of the gunshot kept echoing in my ears like a bad dream, but this wasn’t a dream. William—my brother—was bleeding out on the floor. “Shit,” I gasped, rushing toward him. “Will… Goddamn it, stay with me!” His face was pale, eyes half-closed as he struggled to breathe. Blood poured from his side, seeping through my fingers as I pressed down hard. Too hard. It didn’t matter. “You’re gonna be fine. Hear me? You’re gonna be fine. Just hold on.” He coughed, a weak, bitter laugh escaping his lips. “Richard… you always… always screw things up, don’t you?” “Shut

RICHARD’S POV “William," I said out loud. His body stiffened. He turned slowly to face me, his mask still on, but I knew it was him. The way he moved, his voice earlier—it all made sense now. “Take off the mask, man,” I said, my tone calm but laced with anger. “I know it’s you.” For a second, William didn’t move. Then, with a slow, deliberate motion, he pulled the mask off, revealing that familiar face. There was a twisted smirk on his lips, his eyes gleaming with hatred. I hated how much we looked alike—same damn smirk, same sharp features. “Smart as always, aren’t you, Richard?” he spat, lifting a gun and pointing it straight at me. “But not smart enough.” Great, now two guns were aimed at my head. Just another day in paradise. I grinned at him, trying to ignore the sweat dripping down my back. “William, c’mon. I don’t want trouble. I just want Amelia. Give me my wife, and I’ll walk out of here. No drama.” William let out a harsh laugh, shaking his head. “Oh, you’re funny. Rea

RICHARD’S POV We arrived at the building, and it looked dead—no lights, no signs of life, just an old, worn-down structure. My heart pounded in my chest, but I didn’t have time to feel fear. Not when Amelia was in there. Somewhere. The police moved quietly, guns raised, signaling me to stay back. But there was no way in hell I was sitting this one out. As we entered the place, it smelled of damp wood and dust. My stomach churned, my instincts screaming that something was wrong. But then, just as I was about to dismiss the silence as a bad sign, I heard it—a voice. One I recognized. I froze. Was that…? “Goddamn it!” The voice was angry, echoing through the hollow space. “The bastard’s smarter than I thought. Papers! Can you believe this shit?” He was yelling into the phone, furious about something. The guy kept going on and on, cursing me for filling the bag with papers instead of the ransom money. I crouched behind a half-broken wall, trying to get a better listen, my breath sha

RICHARD’S POV Morning came quicker than I wanted. I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my own reflection, trying to calm my nerves. My heart was pounding in my chest, but I had to keep it together. Today was the day. The bag of fake cash sat on the bed, looking too light for the weight of what was at stake. I picked it up, slinging it over my shoulder like I was just going to the gym. If only it were that simple. The police were already outside, setting up, tapping into my phone like we’d planned. I headed out, feeling the cold air hit me as I got into my car. The drive to the location was tense, my hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that my knuckles turned white. I knew they were following me. Harris was in an unmarked car a few blocks back, probably sipping coffee like this was just another day for him. The location was a grimy parking lot, empty except for a few abandoned cars. The place looked like the kind of spot you’d find in a crime movie, the kind where not
