The routine continued like that for almost a week. Damien was getting used to his new type of normal; not being the centre of attraction. Even as the test period began and the students became more grounded, especially Damien’s class since this was their last year of high school; they still had time to fawn at Princess Isabella. To invite her to torrents of parties, that she turned down one after the other. To bring her gifts, which she rejected always with a smile of thanks. With the offer of sleepovers, which she politely declined. She was never fazed even when the snobbish students went as far as fighting over who will draw out her chair in the cafeteria or who would hold her books though she was always with a maid and a guard who were more than capable to do those things. Sybill’s gestures were more elaborate than that of any of the rest, yet she got rejected as well. Everyone could see how much Sybill was trying just so the princess could ask for her company just as she had done
Damien thought the event of the day was over since he managed to get to closing time without another huge surprise happening to him. Ashton's glower seemed to have been permanently imprinted on his face every time Damien accidentally looked toward him. Also, the fact that Isabella seemed to have done back to the previous way of acting like she did not know him did not only confuse Damien himself but he could see that the other students were bemused as well.None of them were as surprised as Damien was when she asked him to ride with her in her car. Sky hollered as he collected Damien's backpack and dropped it on the backseat. He then opened the door with a flourish as he said loudly "Your carriage awaits you, your highness. And sir" Isabella let out a tinkling laughter before she told her driver that she would not need his service. She told him to ride with Damien's driver. The latter joined Damien's driver in the white car and they waited for the princess's car and that of her ento
“You bastard! Who do you think you are?!” Damien winced as his locker door was slammed against the side of his head and his side. He was just about to change his cloth after a very lengthy exercise training. The coach had been driving them so hard since they only have three days to their competition. Sky had quickly rushed off to join some new friends he made at the Karaoke stand and Damien just got to the locker room. The pain that lanced into him stole his breath for a second. Raucous laughter sounded all around him and he could tell that there were more than five of them.“What do they want now?” he thought in exasperation as he turned to face them. A blow whizzed by his ear as he turned his head at the exact moment that a fist would have crashed into his face. The owner of the fist yowled as he smacked his beefy hand into the edge of the locker.“Son of a bitch!” he yelled.“Keep your voice down, Ansel. We don’t want that nosy MMrSilas coming over, you know” one of the boys said
Damien was startled to see Laura some paces away from the locker room door. She gave his dishevelled appearance a curious look and he almost snapped at her to mind her business. He stalked off just as she opened her mouth to say something. Though he knew it was rude, he didn’t care. Not when she was listed as part of the reason why those idiots wouldn’t have minded tearing him from limb to limb. Though he had refrained from beating the lot of them to a pulp or even drawing blood, he knew that it would only take a miracle for those two to be able to play in the approaching competition match.“I was on my way to your practice,” a familiar voice said just as Damien neared the entrance and he turned around to see the princess walking towards him.“Well, here I am,” he said belligerently.Princess Isabella raised her eyebrows in wonder as she looked behind him as if to check if he was referring to someone else.“Are you okay?” she asked with a tilt of her head.“Yes, princess” Damien answe
Isabella felt strange looking at the moving wheels of the gurney taking the groaning boys to the vehicle that will convey them to the hospital. She had no idea why she was concerned about any of the snobbish kids but she couldn't change the feeling that she was somehow connected to this."How ridiculous" she scoffed. "Are you talking to me, princess?" one of the maids asked and Isabella shook her head. Good going. She thought to herself."Okay, everyone. The show is over now. You all can go home" the teacher, who had followed the paramedics into the locker room said, dispersing the students. The few of them around, groaned aloud as they turned to leave. Especially since most of them had been expecting that they could enter the locker room to check what had happened to the guys."Yes, thank you. Keep going" the teacher said with a shooing motion. He spotted Isabella and inclined his head before adding "And you too, princess""Yes, sir," Isabella said with a smile as she turned to leav
“Princess?” Isabella heard the tinny voice from afar. The voice sounded familiar and she wanted to respond but she found that she couldn’t. She winced as the sound of a crunching bocce resounded through her throbbing brain right before she saw one of the boys go flying. She recognised the face. It was the boy with the oxygen mask held to his nose. He… Isabella jerked when the voice called again “Princess? Are you okay? Why are….do you need me to get you something?” Isabella still found herself unable to respond despite how much she wanted to. Panic took over her mind and the images became blurry yet she was more part of it than not. She could still feel the pain of the boys. She could hear the groan of each of them even as she finally noticed what she had sensed was wrong in the whole picture. Despite how many bones were broken, and how much the eerily fast blows had landed on the weak boys that stood no chance against the weirdly deft assailant, none of the damage caused any blood
Damien was halfway back to the palace before he finally convinced himself to go back. He couldn’t get the thought that there might be a camera that had seen him beating the boys out of his mind. He wanted to assert himself to stop any form of bullying directed at him but then there was no reason to deliberately court trouble. So, he would simply go back to the locker room to see if there were truly any cameras around, he thought, as he told the driver to turn the car.Sky had shown him what the cameras looked like and how to know if they were working. He told the driver to park outside the school gate since he would be back in no time and the latter did as he was told. Damien quickly came down from the car and half-run, half-walk towards the building entrance. He didn’t want to acknowledge the niggling thought that lurked at the back of his mind, that he might still see Laura around. “I am not going to let the possibility of meeting that nosy girl stop me,” he thought fleeting when h
Laura wondered why she had bothered to defend the bastard when Sybill had insisted that something was going on between him and the princess. “The two are screwing each other” was the exact statement that Sybill had repeated so many times now that Laura could recite it in her head without trying. “What a fool I have been,” she thought to herself as she hurried back to the class and jerked her backpack off the back of her chair. She already had her book placed neatly inside it so she merely walked out of the now-empty class as she mentally decided to take her mind off whatever could be happening between the princess and that…that nobody. “It is none of my business if they were eye-fucking each other while I was in the room with them,” she thought firmly to herself even as she felt a bit guilty for using the word “eye-fucking”. Her mother would have threatened to wash her mouth out with soap if she heard such a statement from her. That or she would have immediate palpitations. Laura th
