“Princess?” Isabella heard the tinny voice from afar. The voice sounded familiar and she wanted to respond but she found that she couldn’t. She winced as the sound of a crunching bocce resounded through her throbbing brain right before she saw one of the boys go flying. She recognised the face. It was the boy with the oxygen mask held to his nose. He… Isabella jerked when the voice called again “Princess? Are you okay? Why are….do you need me to get you something?” Isabella still found herself unable to respond despite how much she wanted to. Panic took over her mind and the images became blurry yet she was more part of it than not. She could still feel the pain of the boys. She could hear the groan of each of them even as she finally noticed what she had sensed was wrong in the whole picture. Despite how many bones were broken, and how much the eerily fast blows had landed on the weak boys that stood no chance against the weirdly deft assailant, none of the damage caused any blood
Damien was halfway back to the palace before he finally convinced himself to go back. He couldn’t get the thought that there might be a camera that had seen him beating the boys out of his mind. He wanted to assert himself to stop any form of bullying directed at him but then there was no reason to deliberately court trouble. So, he would simply go back to the locker room to see if there were truly any cameras around, he thought, as he told the driver to turn the car.Sky had shown him what the cameras looked like and how to know if they were working. He told the driver to park outside the school gate since he would be back in no time and the latter did as he was told. Damien quickly came down from the car and half-run, half-walk towards the building entrance. He didn’t want to acknowledge the niggling thought that lurked at the back of his mind, that he might still see Laura around. “I am not going to let the possibility of meeting that nosy girl stop me,” he thought fleeting when h
Laura wondered why she had bothered to defend the bastard when Sybill had insisted that something was going on between him and the princess. “The two are screwing each other” was the exact statement that Sybill had repeated so many times now that Laura could recite it in her head without trying. “What a fool I have been,” she thought to herself as she hurried back to the class and jerked her backpack off the back of her chair. She already had her book placed neatly inside it so she merely walked out of the now-empty class as she mentally decided to take her mind off whatever could be happening between the princess and that…that nobody. “It is none of my business if they were eye-fucking each other while I was in the room with them,” she thought firmly to herself even as she felt a bit guilty for using the word “eye-fucking”. Her mother would have threatened to wash her mouth out with soap if she heard such a statement from her. That or she would have immediate palpitations. Laura th
Damien had no idea what to do when he was unable to talk to Isabella throughout that day. The moment they got to the palace, she ignored him as she headed towards the entrance. Damien ran after her but then a maid met her at the door and informed her that the king requested her presence immediately. Damien had no choice but to go up to his room. Later that evening, after having his dinner in his room, he acted on the thought of going to her and he went to her chambers though he knew that it would be frowned upon by the king. He wondered what happened to Victoria as he approached her door and he saw two maids standing at her door. “I want to see the princess,” he said, ignoring the askance look that the maids gave him. It was unheard of that any man would dare to come to the princess's chamber by that time of the day, not even the guards were allowed anywhere around her chamber by that time. They were sure that Damien knew the rule so he knew why they were looking at him like that. He
Damien didn’t get any reply from the princess at all. He stayed up late into the night, checking his phone from time to time in case any message had been sent to him. Nothing at all.The following morning, he dressed up for school early and waited downstairs for her. She was a no-show till he left for school so that he wouldn’t be late. The school was abuzz with two news that day. One was the news about the boys that were beaten up the day before. They were addressed at the convergence hall that morning by the principal who talked about the dangers of extreme games.“Though all of them seemed to have developed a kind of amnesia; I am sure that they must have fought each other or engaged in some kind of unsupported games.” The principal stated as she paused and looked at everyone around as if she could suddenly get the answer to the puzzle from their expressions. Then she continued. “How that resulted in all of them getting injured at the same time is beyond me but then it is what it i
Damien realised that Isabella was heading to the female rest room and he hung back in the hallway while hoping that no teacher would come along to hassle him for even being anywhere near the female restroom. He thought of the fact that he had not seen any of Isabella’s maids or guards that morning. They had not been in class with her and he couldn’t see any of them in the hallways too. “Did she come to school without her entourage?” he thought in disbelief. He had never seen her go anywhere without them before and he doubted that King Saldus will let her go anywhere without anyone with her. But that seemed to be the case that morning since none of them was around. Damien was tempted to check out the parking lot to see if they were with the driver or if the driver was there as well. She couldn’t possibly come to school without even the driver too, right? Damien wasn't sure of anything at the moment. He could have confidently said earlier that she wouldn’t go anywhere with her entour
The basketball regional competition was a great success. Maryland High won with a margin of 15 points between them and the runner-up, Avery College. One of the highlights of the game was that; Jax Meyers, renowned basketball player, Maryland High Alumni and one of the reasons why Damien was even allowed on the team in the first place despite the protest from everyone else, was the youngest judge on the panel and the only college student is given that honour. Everyone who knew about Jax Meyers's prowess on the court began to view Damien in a different light when Jax went to where they were getting ready before the game started. Damien was surprised when he saw Jax and the latter hugged him before advising him to do his best out there and not let anxiety affect his performance. Some of the student’s mouths were wide open when they saw the man, who was a celebrity in his own right to high school students, talking to an unknown guy that they have never seen in any game. Most of them were
Damien was elated and pumped with energy after the game and all the celebration, he couldn’t believe that he had been able to play as well as he did. He was glad that his school won. He was happier about the fact that he was on the team when they did. He had heard that the last two competitions had not been that favourable for Maryland High. they had been runner-ups for two years consecutively. Which was as long as Jax Meyers had left the school. Jax Meyers's team were the last that got any championship cup for the school. Damien was so happy about the fact that he was one of the teams that brought back Maryland High’s once unbeatable record. He was proud of the fact that he made Jax Meyers happy too. The Alumni ran to the field after the winner and runner-ups were announced and gave Damien a tight hug to the cheer of everyone around. That gesture brought more attention to Damien too as many people in the stands wanted to know who the lad was. Damien had no idea that the camera had
