"Oh no," Elise whispered.

Elise's cheeks flushed, and she turned abruptly. "I... I need to go," she said.

Junior's heart sank. "Wait, Elise," he pleaded softly. "Please don't go."

Elise met his gaze, "it's getting really late, I need to go fetch my parents so we can leave."

Junior sighed, Reluctantly, he nodded, his disappointment evident. "Okay, I get it."

Elise managed a small smile, her eyes sincere. She patted his shoulder gently before turning to walk away.

As she headed toward her parents and the approaching Banks family, Junior watched her retreating figure.

Janet gushed with her arms flung wide, "Oh, Junior, what an absolutely divine party you've thrown! I can hardly find the words to describe how much my family and I enjoyed ourselves!"
