As Junior's eyes locked with Janet's, he braced himself for the inevitable confrontation.

To his astonishment, however, Janet's demeanor was unlike anything he had experienced before. She seemed calm, almost composed, as if the fire that once fueled her bitter criticisms had been quenched.
