I let Ariel go, the crowd of people surrounded us they looked very uncomfortable.
"We decided that we are going to head out of here, we can't live in a shared cave for the rest of our lives," The man from earlier said.
"What about our families, our homes?" Ariel said through wiping her tears.
"We have to look at the facts Ariel, the Queen gave up on us. There's no salvation in Mud-Haven, no food, no water, no wheat, Mud-Haven is dying.” The woman from prior says, she looked quite frail, the fact that she got this far is even impressive.
”We can't live there anymore, of course, if there is anyone left in need of help we will be there and take them with opened arms." The man agreed.
"Think what you want, and do what you please. But Luke and I are not giving up." Ariel spoke shakily.
"I know I have no business in the village's matters, but can I aid you with some assistance?" Merlin assisted.
"What kind of an assistance could 'you' possibly give us," A woman said with a snide remark.
"Up to you, I figured I'd lend a hand to those who are homeless when one already has a home." Merlin turned to walk away from the conversation.
"Hey, hey now wait a second. What do you have in mind?" The man asked curiously.
"You can't be serious Charlie. This old man is crazy, for god sakes he thought Luke was someone named Arthur." The woman said annoyed.
The man named 'Charlie' ignored her and followed Merlin. "Please, tell us what you can do."
Merlin turned back around to face him, but instead of speaking walked past Charlie and walked outside of the cave gesturing that Charlie and everyone else to follow. We all went outside and Merlin looked at us then back to where there was a long piece of land.
"Watch where I point, and don't blink or you will miss it," Merlin ordered.
"You have to be kidding me," The women rolled her eyes.
Suddenly there was a flash and a small village appeared as if it has been there the whole time, the whole crowd gasped including me; he still didn't explain how he lit up the cave.
"You wanted a home, there's your home. Now hurry up and leave before I change my mind." Merlin said snidely.
"You weren't the greatest guests I invited here and I rather you leave," Merlin stated walking back inside the cave.
Charles turned to us still a bit dumbfounded. "If you change your minds, you know where to find us," He nodded.
"Of course," I said with a fake smile.
Honestly, I'm with Merlin on this one. They aren't even thankful that they have been saved.
I turned and walked back into the cave following Merlin, as he walked to Balinor patting his head. "I want to apologize to you for how selfish our civilians were towards you," I spoke apologetically.
"Let me ask you something, is this village really worth saving?" Merlin asked not facing me.
"Of course it is!" Ariel stepped in out of turn, she seem's to like speaking for me.
"I didn't ask you, I asked Lucas. Now let me ask you again, is this village worth saving?" He turned to face me this time, Ariel sighed.
I took a minute to think. Do I want to save a place that is so selfishly inclined?
"Absolutely." I nodded matter of factly.
Merlin nodded back silently for a few seconds. “It’s going to be a challenge when neither of you have any magic yourselve’s… However I guess I made myself inclined to be of assistance.” he paused with a sigh and turned his head to the large winged creature. “What do you say Barinor, care to give us a ride, old friend?”
The dragon slowly got to his feet and moved forward toward the mouth of the cave, moving out of the way so Balinor could exit he went outside, with us shortly following after him.
Now finally seeing Balinor fully; he was about 50 feet tall not including his wings and tail, his scales were not just one shade of green but multiple as they shined in the light noticing also that the rain finally stopped.
Merlin began climbing Belinor's back until he reached around his neck and looked down at us.
"Come on you two we don't have all night, it's going to get dark soon," Merlin called out, we began climbing one by one.
Balinor's scales were rough and dry and shaped in tiny octagon shapes, he was much easier to climb then I figured he would be.
Settling behind Merlin, and Ariel held around my waist as she settled behind me.
"Everyone ready?" Merlin called out.
"Yes we are ready," I called back.
That's when Balinor lifted off his front legs and skyrocketed into the air almost falling off and taking Ariel with me I held as tightly onto his scales as tight as possible, breathing deeply.
The view was amazing from up here; mountains, thrusting spires of naked rock into the heavens so high that you would believe the very sky was pierced.
The river surrounding the mountains was a vigorous and optimistic blue, it mirrored the sky and the reflections of the mountains were beautiful.
Balinor's wings flapped gracefully in the wind, we rode silently until suddenly Balinor flew higher this time knocking off both Ariel and I, into a free fall that was leading us into the river down below, Ariel was screaming very loudly.
This suddenly felt like Deja Vu.
"Alright Balinor, you had your fun, go get them," Merlin said laughing. The gigantic dragon caught us onto his back once more.
"That wasn't funny!" I yelled over the wind.
"Really, I thought it was hilarious!" Merlin continued to laugh, and I swear I heard Balinor mischievously chuckle.
I squinted out in the horizon, there laid an old stone tower that stood on a rugged slope, across the land of mountains, the sun glinted off of the glass windows and stood almost as high as the clouds which were slowly glazing the sky.
As we got closer the tower looked as if it had been built from the mountains itself, there were large spurs atop of the tower, with vines snaking up around the stones and rocks that surrounded it.
Large pine trees were scattered around filling the air with its amazing scent, the dragon swung around the building looking for the entrance.
"Ah, I haven't been here for about one hundred years, it really is nice to be home." Merlin took a long breath breathing in the mossy, pined scent.
"Home?" Ariel and I both said in unison.
"What, you think an old wizard like me doesn't have a place to call home? You Mud-Haven folk are some closed minded." Merlin said insulted.
"Well, I just thought-" Merlin cut me off.
"Thought that I lived in that ragged stuffy cave, no offence Ballinor." Merlin quickly added.
Ballinor looked back as if to say, "None taken," And continued his way around the tallest spire.
We continued to circle the spire slowly getting lower to the ground ever so slightly.
"Merlin!" Luke shouted. "Are we ever going to land? I'm getting air-sick." He said trying hard to cover his mouth and NOT fall off the dragon.
"I can't say, really whenever Ballinor decides to I'm guessing," Merlin shouted back.
"I really rather not be puked on," Ariel said terrified.
Ballinor not wanting to be puked on either, started quickening his pace towards the lower right side of the spire, entering an eye-catching garden.
Before I could even catch my breath, I was blown away by the most breathtaking place I have ever seen.
In front of us lay a massive courtyard, covered in fresh pines and twisting vines. Getting closer we could see vibrant, hues and colours from the garden, as far as the eye could see.
Ballinor scattered to get his footing to land his large legs scooted into the court-yard and finally landed. I hurried off Balinors back and ran to the nearest bush and spilled my stomach out.
"Thank god he made it to the bushes," Ariel said with a disgusted look.
"Those...were marigolds he just...you know what, let's get inside," Merlin says quickly going on a different subject.
My stomach grunted as I stand back upright wiping off the disgusting spew off my face. "I don't think I enjoy dragon flying," I said sickly.
"I don't think he enjoyed it that much either, considering you almost puked on him," Merlin chuckled, we walked into the tall tower and inside was just as beautiful as the outside.
"Are you sure you live here Merlin?" Ariel exclaimed sarcastically, This place looks far too beautiful for an old man like yourself. Shouldn't there be a princess or something?" She said examining a pile of old books.
"And what if it is?" Merlin said slyly. "What if I told you it once belonged to a princess," Merlin continued.
"That is until Balinor got to her." Merlin chuckled, "Speaking of, Poor Balinor is probably hungry after that long flight. Who's to say you won't be next?" Balinor growled in protest to that as he shook his head and laid down, Ariel, on the other hand, looked scared, with her eyes all bulged and her mouth ajar, with her facial expressions. I myself had to laugh, I tried holding it in, covering my face but it was just too much. I burst out laughing and they both stared at me. It was the first time I laughed since I could remember. Ariel pouted and I finally calmed down I took a minute to take in my surrounding's; There was a large bookshelf spiralling all the way to the top of the tower with a staircase built into the bookshelf. finding myself raising my hand to caress the books binding and the smell of dust. It feels like an eternity since I held a book. Across the binding's there were letters that spelt: P. O. T. I. O. N. S. and E. L. I. X. E. R. S. Ok
Merlin suddenly appeared behind me and whacked me on the side of my head. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?" I rubbed the back of my head. "You really are an abusive old man, you know that?" "In any case how could you let them take her like that?!" I argued. "You did just get thrown across the room, yes?" Merlin said giving me a look. "Yeah, but you have magic couldn't you have done, I don't know anything?" I argued, Merlin shook his head. "We have a lot of work to do, come. Follow me." Merlin said. "I seem to be following you everywhere," I said snidely, Merlin ignoring my comment goes over to another bookcase and starts looking through books and writes down things he thinks is important. "Do you see that caldron over in the corner, bring it over to me on this table." He pointed to a specific place onto the table. I went and picked it up, not realizing just how heavy it actually is. "This thing is like fifty pounds!" I exasperated placing it where he directed.
I shook my head, I'm definitely hallucinating. Walking over toward Balinor I climbed onto his back. "What are you doing?" Merlin questioned. "I thought we were taking Balinor," I beseeched. "Are you insane we will get caught before we are halfway into the air! No, come. We shall walk." Merlin commanded. "But we won't make it in time!" I argued. "Arguing won't fix that statement, Lucas." Merlin walked off, grumbling I slid off Balinor and ran after him. Empty fields of blades of grass with every step gently puttered underneath my feet, my new dagger stuck into my belt shined from the moonlight, making it seem like its glowing. Up ahead seems to head into a forest, no not a forest it was those destructive creatures, what were they called again? Ah yes, Treants. There was no way around them, and no way going over. "I hate killing nature," Merlin joked halfheartedly. "Looks like we don't have much of a choice, how do I even kill these things?" I investigated. "Fire,"
I awoke, coughing and gagging as water and blood spluttered from my lips convoluting me to my side gasping with every breath. I should be dead right now, so how even am I still alive... My dagger dropped in front of me as I looked up as a mysterious woman with black hair and silver-like eyes looked down at me with her intimidating gaze, her body was drenched. She smiled at me and pointed right across the water where Merlin sat with bloodshot eyes and sticky wet rosy cheeks. I looked back at the woman and she again pointed towards something in the distance, looking to where she gestured I noticed a wooden rowboat with paddles. "Thank you for saving me," I tried to sound grateful. Suddenly her smile became a maniacal grin. "One day you will return to me, and it will be I who will require a favour, from you," she said in a monotone voice. Suddenly, she walked back into the water and vanished. Leaving a trail of her wet footprints behind. My body still smeared in mud and s
Ariel's Point of view: I awoke in some kind of hut that was made of sticks, mud and grass, it was quite dark in here even with the sun coming through. I started to remember what had happened, we were all in Merlin's tower and Orcs came we tried to sneak away but before I got through the secret door a large ugly orc grabbed my arm with his chubby fingers and used one of my pressure points and I passed out. My wrists have been bounded behind my back with something that feels like rope, I struggled against it testing its strength. That is until the large orc from before what was his name, Margon. He came in with a large decaying smile on his face and coming close enough to caress my face. I cringed away from his touch his fingers felt like sandpaper or leather of a snake against my skin. "Aw, are you afraid my little concubine?" Margon teased as he got closer toward me and suddenly pinned me to the floor with one arm as the other slowly went up into my dress, but before he cam
Lukes's Point Of View Getting closer we finally got by the camp, Merlin turned to me. "Before we go in there are thing's I must explain before taking this." Merlin hushed. "Okay, and what do I need to know?" I whispered back. "The elixir will only last for about half hour to an hour, which means we only have about forty-five minutes till we are back out here," Merlin explained quietly. I nodded to show him I understood, as he nodded back gulping down half of the disgusting juice, and passed it to me next. without smelling, I gulped it down as fast as possible. It tasted like dirt and blood. I cringed from the taste and did my best not to puke. Suddenly Merlin changed into a large, stalky, ugly orc. He was about eight feet tall, and his arms were almost as big as his body, as my body did the same. "No time to talk we go in, grab her then leave." He ordered. "Right," I agreed. My voice was much deeper in this form, following Merlin into the camp I realized there must
As we walked down to the river I noticed there was a giant waterfall, the water was a deep bluish-green, as the sound of the falls rushing into the river like loud rain, the trees around seemed to have the most beautiful colour green leaves I have ever seen. As well as all the things that belonged to wildlife. Ariel began getting undressed without warning and I awkwardly looked away. She slowly made it into the water as she tested the coolness of it. Ariel let out a vocal sigh as she laid her head back, the water enveloping her body, and the blood flowed with the water as well. The moonlight from above luminated her pale skin and darkened her black hair. She looked just like a painting. I sat down with my back still towards her as she laid in the ever-flowing water. "I'm not sure what happened, but if you need to talk I'm here," I said softly watching the clouds bleed in the dark sky. I closed my eye's as the breeze touched my face ever so softly, the sound of deep sobbing ca
Taking a deep sigh I walked off into the darkness, as the smell of moss and wet grass filled my nostrils as I take in my surroundings, the moon was large and full tonight as the clouds going past looked eerie. It was dark but the moon made it light enough to see, I suddenly noticed a few trees along the way with branches big enough for firewood. I took my dagger and began sawing off the first branch. The tree quickly screamed as it lifted itself out of the ground with a terrible shriek.Pushing me backwards falling into the dirt with a painful thump, it stood over me ready to attack. Out of reaction, I put my hands out in front of me for protection shutting my eyes tight out of fear. I awaited my fate of being eaten by the Treant, but bright red flame bursts from my hands setting it on fire with a loud whoosh. The Treant exploded into flames squealing to the ground with a large crack, I suddenly looked at my coal coated hands and just sat there in confusion. This isn't even possible,
