We creaked open the large gates as white mist surrounded us where we could see as if everything had been erased onto a blank canvas, nor could we see each other, other then the clasp of our hands together.

We took another step and suddenly all the mist had been gone as if it had never been there to begin with.

  "Magic is weird." I noted to myself out loud.

Ariel didn't reply, just gasped what she saw before her. I looked where she was gawking at and realized what was before us.

If I didn't know better I would have thought there was a fight to the death in the trees.

Unfortunately we both knew what truly happened here, the treants finally had their flesh filled meal.

The image was nauseating, and this time they have not been swallowed whole. Instead it was a tortured act among the tree-people-eating monsters.

One guy, over weight and hair loss, had his eyes wide open, there were no color in his eyes, white and life less.

His mouth and chin covered in his own spattered blood.
