Merlin suddenly appeared behind me and whacked me on the side of my head. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
I rubbed the back of my head. "You really are an abusive old man, you know that?"
"In any case how could you let them take her like that?!" I argued.
"You did just get thrown across the room, yes?" Merlin said giving me a look.
"Yeah, but you have magic couldn't you have done, I don't know anything?" I argued, Merlin shook his head.
"We have a lot of work to do, come. Follow me." Merlin said.
"I seem to be following you everywhere," I said snidely, Merlin ignoring my comment goes over to another bookcase and starts looking through books and writes down things he thinks is important.
"Do you see that caldron over in the corner, bring it over to me on this table." He pointed to a specific place onto the table.
I went and picked it up, not realizing just how heavy it actually is. "This thing is like fifty pounds!" I exasperated placing it where he directed.
"Yes well, its supposed to be." He admitted picking and choosing vials of different powders and liquids all different colours. Pouring them in one by one, with a giant puff of smoke.
"This will take some time to brew, I'm going to make a list for that elixir we were in the middle of before we were rudely interrupted," Merlin stated.
Sitting at the table he started scratching something down on a piece of parchment and folded it up into a square and slid into his pocket, and checked on the brewing liquid.
"What even is that, it smells like some kind of dead animal," I described with a disgusted look on my face.
"This disgusting smelling brew is what we are going to be drinking when it is finished," Merlin said stirring the pot.
"Nope, no way, not happening," I refused trying not to breathe of my nose, the stench of rotting meat and wet dog hair was in the air and got worse with every second passing by.
I think I am going to pass out or get sick again.
"Do you want to save Ariel or not? Because the only way we are going to come close is to drink this unless of course, you want to run into a massacre, which you won't last two minutes."
"Fine, what does it even do anyway?"
"Use your head boy" Merlin exclaimed If We can't beat them then we?
"Join them?" Luke asked half questionably
"Precisely!" Merlin boomed. "This potion will do just that. Drinking it will make us look like we are one of them. But the effects are only temporary. So we will have to act fast," Merlin said with a hint of urgency.
'But before we get into that. Follow me, Luke, I have something for you. I hope it will help you with what is about to come," He said.
I followed Merlin down a long corridor and into a small room covered in books and what I could only imagine were scrolls. We finally came to a halt. in front of a massive bookcase filled with books and boxes.
Merlin inhaled and blew a large cloud of dust off the shelf. Making me sneeze. Reaching up he pulled a small box wrapped in a crimson, coloured silk off the top shelf behind a book inside a hole in the wall and brought it over to a nearby table.
"Come here Luke take a seat," Merlin gestured over softly.
I scrambled my way through piles of old books to a small table where Merlin was now sitting.
Taking a seat I realized a tear on the side of Merlin's cheek. Concerned I asked Merlin," Are you okay?"
Taking a moment to catch his composer he looked up at me and said.
"It's been a long time since I've seen this," Merlin explained exasperatedly. "It belonged to a good friend of mine when he was alive."
"You mean, Arthur?" I asked trying not to interrupt.
"Yes, Arthur." Merlin smiled remembering a memory.
Unwrapping the silk covering this strange box. He slowly began opening it, as tears began filling his eyes, as they slid down like raindrops before he wiped them away. He took out a large dagger the tip of the handle had an aquamarine stone wrapped inside the plated gold as his fingers slid down the handle farther I noticed there were more then one aquamarine stone there have been multiple throughout its hilt as it has been gently engraved with black obsidian around its blade.
The blade was a work of different metal, other then obsidian it had a rich mixture of iron and carbon making the blade itself look brand new.
Merlin gestured making me hold out my hands to obtain the dagger, it was quite light for such beauty. Its leather; rough yet smooth, the blade looks like it could cut smoothly through anything. It glinted in the candlelight making the stones reflect around the room.
"It's truly magnificent, Merlin." fascinated I rolled the blade around in my hands testing it as I held onto it tightly.
"It has a name..." Merlin said through his breath.
"What has a name?" I asked still lost in the spender of such a dagger.
"Its name is Carnwennan..."
"Carnwennan, what does it mean?" I asked in awe.
"It means white hilt, and it has been given to him by God himself," Merlin spoke reminiscing.
Suddenly I heard a pang in my head, my eyes went wide as I felt deja vu, no a memory. A child running through a palace as a man dressed in white moulded and crafted a weapon. suddenly I came back to my senses and shook my head out of shock.
"I see, so god is an actual person?" I asked with my head tilted to the side.
"Well I can't say he was or he wasn't, I personally haven't met him. But, I do have faith," He said matter of factly. He walked over to the cauldron and began one last stir before filling a flask.
"It is time to go, who know's how much time she has left," He put the silver flask into his pocket and we went on our way.
The outside looked different at night, fireflies and the shine of the moonlight reflecting off the water below the mountains and the flowers still gave off its amazing scents. The moon was full and the stars shone brightly in the never-ending navy blue sky.
Suddenly an owl flew onto merlin's shoulder, Merlin didn't even flinch. "Oh, Archimedes where have you been, you've missed quite a farce today." The bird had brown and black feathers and a yellow beak with yellow eyes.
"Yes well, you know I have been busy merlin, with everything that happened and all," Archimedes spoke. I just stared, I must be hallucinating, birds do not talk, unless I forgot about that too.
"You must have travelled quite a long distance if you're here, how did you find me?" Merlin spoke.
"How forgetful can you be, I can see anything. Especially the future," Archimedes added.
"Ah, yes, I do seem to become more forgetful these days." Merlin agreed. "that reminds me, Archimedes, meet Lucas. I found him and his village friends lost and homeless," He explained to the bird as he turned to face me.
Suddenly the bird flew off his shoulder onto a nearby tree. "Destruction and chaos is in your future boy, but I can't see the cause of it."
"Um, right love to chat with a crazy bird but I need to go save Ariel," I said walking down the path.
"Archimedes, I know you had a long flight but I could really use your help," Merlin explained to Archimedes what happened. "So if you could fly up and see if you can find any orc encampment's, it would be quite appreciated."
Archimedes sighed with exhaust and flew up into the navy night sky, he disappeared in the distance, about fortyty minutes later he returned and took his perch on merlins shoulder.
"They are about twenty minutes to the west, for you to it will take about an hour. Now I wish you luck on your journey, but this owl is going to go take a much-needed rest." Archimedes explained and flew off into the window of the tower.
I shook my head, I'm definitely hallucinating. Walking over toward Balinor I climbed onto his back. "What are you doing?" Merlin questioned. "I thought we were taking Balinor," I beseeched. "Are you insane we will get caught before we are halfway into the air! No, come. We shall walk." Merlin commanded. "But we won't make it in time!" I argued. "Arguing won't fix that statement, Lucas." Merlin walked off, grumbling I slid off Balinor and ran after him. Empty fields of blades of grass with every step gently puttered underneath my feet, my new dagger stuck into my belt shined from the moonlight, making it seem like its glowing. Up ahead seems to head into a forest, no not a forest it was those destructive creatures, what were they called again? Ah yes, Treants. There was no way around them, and no way going over. "I hate killing nature," Merlin joked halfheartedly. "Looks like we don't have much of a choice, how do I even kill these things?" I investigated. "Fire,"
I awoke, coughing and gagging as water and blood spluttered from my lips convoluting me to my side gasping with every breath. I should be dead right now, so how even am I still alive... My dagger dropped in front of me as I looked up as a mysterious woman with black hair and silver-like eyes looked down at me with her intimidating gaze, her body was drenched. She smiled at me and pointed right across the water where Merlin sat with bloodshot eyes and sticky wet rosy cheeks. I looked back at the woman and she again pointed towards something in the distance, looking to where she gestured I noticed a wooden rowboat with paddles. "Thank you for saving me," I tried to sound grateful. Suddenly her smile became a maniacal grin. "One day you will return to me, and it will be I who will require a favour, from you," she said in a monotone voice. Suddenly, she walked back into the water and vanished. Leaving a trail of her wet footprints behind. My body still smeared in mud and s
Ariel's Point of view: I awoke in some kind of hut that was made of sticks, mud and grass, it was quite dark in here even with the sun coming through. I started to remember what had happened, we were all in Merlin's tower and Orcs came we tried to sneak away but before I got through the secret door a large ugly orc grabbed my arm with his chubby fingers and used one of my pressure points and I passed out. My wrists have been bounded behind my back with something that feels like rope, I struggled against it testing its strength. That is until the large orc from before what was his name, Margon. He came in with a large decaying smile on his face and coming close enough to caress my face. I cringed away from his touch his fingers felt like sandpaper or leather of a snake against my skin. "Aw, are you afraid my little concubine?" Margon teased as he got closer toward me and suddenly pinned me to the floor with one arm as the other slowly went up into my dress, but before he cam
Lukes's Point Of View Getting closer we finally got by the camp, Merlin turned to me. "Before we go in there are thing's I must explain before taking this." Merlin hushed. "Okay, and what do I need to know?" I whispered back. "The elixir will only last for about half hour to an hour, which means we only have about forty-five minutes till we are back out here," Merlin explained quietly. I nodded to show him I understood, as he nodded back gulping down half of the disgusting juice, and passed it to me next. without smelling, I gulped it down as fast as possible. It tasted like dirt and blood. I cringed from the taste and did my best not to puke. Suddenly Merlin changed into a large, stalky, ugly orc. He was about eight feet tall, and his arms were almost as big as his body, as my body did the same. "No time to talk we go in, grab her then leave." He ordered. "Right," I agreed. My voice was much deeper in this form, following Merlin into the camp I realized there must
As we walked down to the river I noticed there was a giant waterfall, the water was a deep bluish-green, as the sound of the falls rushing into the river like loud rain, the trees around seemed to have the most beautiful colour green leaves I have ever seen. As well as all the things that belonged to wildlife. Ariel began getting undressed without warning and I awkwardly looked away. She slowly made it into the water as she tested the coolness of it. Ariel let out a vocal sigh as she laid her head back, the water enveloping her body, and the blood flowed with the water as well. The moonlight from above luminated her pale skin and darkened her black hair. She looked just like a painting. I sat down with my back still towards her as she laid in the ever-flowing water. "I'm not sure what happened, but if you need to talk I'm here," I said softly watching the clouds bleed in the dark sky. I closed my eye's as the breeze touched my face ever so softly, the sound of deep sobbing ca
Taking a deep sigh I walked off into the darkness, as the smell of moss and wet grass filled my nostrils as I take in my surroundings, the moon was large and full tonight as the clouds going past looked eerie. It was dark but the moon made it light enough to see, I suddenly noticed a few trees along the way with branches big enough for firewood. I took my dagger and began sawing off the first branch. The tree quickly screamed as it lifted itself out of the ground with a terrible shriek.Pushing me backwards falling into the dirt with a painful thump, it stood over me ready to attack. Out of reaction, I put my hands out in front of me for protection shutting my eyes tight out of fear. I awaited my fate of being eaten by the Treant, but bright red flame bursts from my hands setting it on fire with a loud whoosh. The Treant exploded into flames squealing to the ground with a large crack, I suddenly looked at my coal coated hands and just sat there in confusion. This isn't even possible,
I shook my head at his jokes as I slid my hand down to the hilt of my blade making sure it's still there and secure, it was.Getting to my feet and stretching the kinks out of my back, I yawned loudly my arms up into the summery breeze. We were almost out of the mountains, it might take three or four more hours before we finally get into the clearing. "So if you know where we are going, Where to next?" I asked with my hands on my hips. Merlin took out a large tooth, the one from the orc and held it out towards us. I took it as he reached into the pocket of his robe, and brought out the parchment he was writing on before. "Powdered Orc tooth was on the list, so now we must go to the elven kingdom to get one leaf from the tree of life," Merlin explained. "The tree of life? I thought it was just a myth," Ariel said in awe. "So you heard of it then, so I don't have to explain it?" Merlin questioned. "Actually, I don't know what it is..." I muttered. "The tree of life is a sy
Finally getting out of the mountains a large dragon flew overhead covering the sky forcing us to look up out of curiosity, this one had many shades of blue and jagged scales, almost looking embellished flying over the mountains. "How many dragons are there?" I questioned in awe. "Thousands, millions, I can't really say," Merlin answered watching the dragon go by. "They look so intriguing," I said in a daze. "They are pretty," Ariel admitted. "Beautiful yet Dangerous," Aemeon said nodding. "There has been many attacks this generation, hasn't there?" Merlin agreed. "Yeah, I heard there was a fire dragon that attacked a village and burned it down to ash, there's a rumour that she came back from the ashes of her mother, they call her the Phoenix," Aemeon announced. "Ah, yes Ashley, that happened eighteen years ago," Merlin said knowingly. "Wait, you knew her?" Aemeon asked. "Many years ago I had, fiery red hair and bright emerald green eyes, there's no forgetting that
