Mason's eyes marveled at the scene outside the open elevator. The building at the surface was just a veil to a hidden Temple underneath the ground. The structure was huge, stretching to an unknown depth, and Mason stared through the transparent bridge leading to the temple's entrance. He couldn't believe something like this was right under the noses of the Aleric city, and no one except the Celestial assassin was aware of its existence. Mason shifts his gaze to the entrance of the temple; from that distance, he can see the light sending down the transparent walls with little figures, which he assumes are where humans navigate their way through. The temple was designed in a modernized way, far from anything like the ancient structures or other familiar temples, such as the monks or other religious temples. At the end of the bridge were a few assassins dressed in their black uniforms, patiently waiting for their arrival. As they approached, Mason's eyes roamed through the group, balan
The image of Jeremiah crawled into memory as Mason stared at the system notification, which left him with no details about the mission. It wasn't the first time he had gotten a mission like this, but his heart skipped a beat as he glanced at the name across the screen, making him swallow the lump in his throat. They hadn't talked in a while, and now his best friend was in danger, and he didn't know what kind of trouble Jeremiah was in. Mason quickly slid his hands into his pocket and brought out his phone, dialing his number. After a few rings, the call was declined, making Mason stare at his screen with several possibilities crawling into his mind. Mason shrugged off the thoughts and dialed the number again, but just like the first time, the call was declined.“Is there a problem, Master?” Miranda asked, noticing the frown on Mason's face as he constantly tapped on his phone screen. Mason raised his eyes to her, and he knew Miranda was to notice his distress even when he pretended n
The noise of the rumbling ascending elevator soared through the car as everyone strapped themselves against their seat belts, waiting for the secret elevator to reach the surface. After a few minutes, the back exit of the Celestial Temple was open, revealing sunlight that kissed their skin as they drove out of the veil, hiding the temple's identity. Mason glanced at his watch behind the wheel and averted his gaze to the thirty-minute timer in front of him. He had personally set that as the ideal time to reach the tackles. "Is everyone ready?" Mason asked, shifting his gaze to his side, where Miranda sat. She nodded her head, and he glanced at the rearview mirror, confirming that everyone had their seat belts on. He stepped on the gas, and the car zoomed into the streets of Aleric City, leaving dust behind.Mason skilfully Navigated through the heart of Aleric city, leaving pedestrians dumbfounded and alarmed by the speed at which the car was moving. Other cars who noticed the incomin
Thirty minutes out of Aleric city, Mason finally slowed down as his eyes fixed on the two-story building that came into view, making everyone marvel at the fact he was able to arrive at their destination with the exact time he had set at the beginning. Everyone wore a similar stunned expression except for him, who knew about the possibilities of the legendary driving skill. Mason focuses on the Jackal's hideout, ignoring the praises that linger in his car. Miranda, who was quick to read his expression, instructed everyone to be quiet and ready as they slowly arrived at a stop, with the noise of nature masking the rumbling sound of the car. Mason quickly turned off the engine and glance to Miranda, who also noticed more than a dozen armed men outside the 'Getting past them to save Jeremiah is impossible,' Mason muttered to himself as different scenarios played in his head. He shifted his gaze to the back, where Nyx and her colleagues unbuckled their seat belts and excited the car.
The familiar image of Jeremiah crawled into Mason's memory as the voice repeated the word. “Move an inch, and I will blow your head off!” the voice threatened, in a tone meant to contain authority, but Mason could sense the rasping breath of nervousness lacing its edges. He hadn't seen the face of the person who spoke, but he was sure it was Jeremiah, as he could remember that familiar ascent of his friend even from his sleep. “Jeremiah?!” Mason called steadily, still feeling the cold metal pressed against his neck. “Huh?” the figure behind him taps at his shoulder and turns Mason around. “Mason!” Jeremiah half shrieked, lowering the gun as the realization of who it was hit him. Excitement and disbelief washed over his face as he glanced at Mason, who instantly mirrored his expression but frowned when he shifted his eyes to the bruises on Jeremiah's face. The deep cut on his lips gave Mason a hint: he was beaten and tortured by the Jackals.‘Those bastard!’ Mason muttered to himsel
With Mason leading the way, they exited the room into the hallway filled with several bodies lying on the ground. Mason couldn't tell if they were dead or unconscious as they hovered past them. He couldn't believe four people were capable of performing such damage to more than a dozen armed men. If he hadn't experienced it, he would have said it was impossible to save Jeremiah since none of the celestial assassins carried any gun like the Jackals. From the look of their injuries, it was a close combat.“Who could have done this?” Jeremiah muttered to himself as he tried not to step on them. Mason, I don't know if we should be happy or scared, but whoever did this is more dangerous than the gang,” Jeremiah added. Mason nodded his head, pretending not to know who could enter dangerous territory and destabilize it. As they approached the end of the hallway, Mason could hear the unbearable pain of injured men groaning from a distance. Placing his back to the wall, he peeks, seeing severa
"My guest?" The man asked with a furrowed brow. He glanced at Mason and shifted his gaze to Jero, "Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now!"Confusion washed over Jero's face as he switched his gaze from Mason to his master, realizing he had been lied to. He quickly crumbled to his knees. "M…Master forgive me. I wouldn't have made such a mistake if he hadn't threatened to be a very important person to you," Jero replied. The man shifted his gaze back to Mason, whose eyes were moving around the room. "Who are you? Are you a cop? Why did you tell Jero you are my guest?" the man asked.Mason cleared his throat and stepped forward, ignoring the pending question. "I would like to ask for a few things. Let my friend go and stop bothering the university to pay you any dues because it won't," Mason said. The man shifted his eyes to Jeremiah and then back to Mason."Do you have a death wish?" He puzzled at Mason, who furrowed his brow. "You don't seem to be scared of me."Mason
Standing in the shadows, Mason watched as the media broadcast the news of the cops recovering huge amounts of illegal drugs while they arrested Hugomule and his men. The paramedics from the Williams Central Hospital were busy rescuing and transporting the children to the hospital under Mason's orders. He called the hospital chief and informed him to provide free medical care for the victims of the Hogumule illegal organ business while the cops searched for their parents. When Mason arrived, Miranda was waiting for him in front of the hospital with his car parked by her side. She wasn't wearing the black assassin's clothes; rather, her figure was decorated in a smart suit, assisted by her glasses, presenting a business-like figure. She was a different person, and nobody would think she was capable of swinging a sword, let alone decapitating a man's hand with one strike."Master, here are your keys," Miranda said, handing him the keys to his car. "I will inform you the moment the tech
