It Feels Like Heaven

Geldrick began the story of his father.

"My father was an adventurer searching for a thumb-sized red crystal stone guarded by a giant gorilla-shaped Spirit Beast. The stone is said to have great magical powers," Geldrick said as he stared into the campfire.

Geldrick sat with his body tense on the boulder in front of the fire. Aaron sat beside him and popped a piece of meat into his mouth, then nodded along to Geldrick's story.

"My father spent more than ten years on that quest," Geldrick said, his eyes looking off into the distance. "He traveled to all corners of this world, battling the most terrible monsters and facing the most difficult obstacles."

Aaron noticed the solemn expression on his friend's face. "And yet, he finally gave up?" he asked.

Geldrick nodded languidly. "Yes, he finally gave up. He said that he didn't want to be a burden on our family and spend the rest of his life searching for it."
