The Honesty

Aaron punched the fork out of the mayor's hand, instantly sending it flying free along with the piece of grilled meat. Smiling with relief, Aaron landed on the floor uneventfully. Slipping and falling. He did it like a goalkeeper deflecting a ball!

When he wanted to get up, he pointed several swords at his neck. Aaron raised both hands while standing up slowly.

"That food was poisonous," Aaron said quickly.

The mayor was still sitting calmly when he asked, "How did you know?"

Everyone in the dining room looked at him in confusion, including Alice, who had just arrived after desperately trying to catch up with Aaron.

Under all those intimidating stares, Aaron still had to be thankful that the mayor's family hadn't eaten yet. Tradition made them swear not to touch the food before the head of the family shoved the food into his mouth. In some circumstances, that tradition could be their salvation.
