Tell me everything, Charlize

Sick and battered, Charlize carried Dane's weak butt around while tailoring a perfect story to come up with. However, their perfectly unified story is capable of fooling anyone, but not this city's police officers.

Passing by the hospital, claiming for an emergency, Charlize began her act. It was all pre-planned, and now they only had to act.

Although half of the acting was real since they were truly mourning for the loss of Ruth. Especially Dane who didn't understand an ounce of what was going on around him. The poor man was another traumatic trigger away from going insane.

"Whoa," The receptionist screeched at their battered appearance. Not many people walk themselves to an emergency 24/7 hospital unit very often. And the situation was made worse when he sees blood on both of their clothes.

The receptionist was a man working late at night. He immediately dialed the emergency doctor and nurses to check into the situation. The squad came into the lounge within a minute. He also speed dialed a south town police squad because the situation needed their assistance.

"Someone get them first aid! Oh jeez, check for an accident—"

"The tunnel…south west side, sir. Please send a police and an ambulance..." Charlize said, her eyes bawling tears of grief.

"A-Alright, I'll inform the officer coming here to check." Charlize mumbled a small 'thank you' to the receptionist as we went back to the desk.

Ruth was a wonderful friend and an even wonderful girlfriend. But what has to be done, has to be done. Sometimes duties outlive the desire to keep someone alive. Even if that someone is a lifelong friend of yours. It just happens out there, because justice is a horribly misunderstood term.

"Th-That tunnel? What were you guys doing there?" Charlize furrowed her eyebrows. There's no way the hospital staff know about it too!

"Mister, we had to get back home! What route—" Just then, the police sirens beeped as the receptionist narrated the knowledge he had of the two to the officer.

Charlize had an exceptional ear. She eavesdropped on a conversation which was happening outside the closed doors of the hospital entrance. By this, Dane knew Charlize wasn't a normal person anymore.

He started fearing her more.

"Sir, that route wasn't shut down properly." It wasn't shut down properly, meaning, it was open for demons…

The officer walked in, crouched down in front of them and removed his hat to appear more approachable. By the way they're shaking like a leaf, the officer knew something was wrong.

And that it wasn't just an 'accident'.

"You have to calm down and tell us what happened there. What do you remember? Does someone have a concussion?"

"No, officer." Charlize threatened Dane with a gaze which translated to, 'let me handle this', "My- my friend and his girlfriend, Ruth…she was driving through the tunnel when suddenly we skidded at the c-curve and she hit a pole and…" Charlize was sobbing.

"She was impaled, officer! Right through her chest!" The officer took a deep breath. He called an officer close and gave him a command,

"Gordon, take that squad with you. Inspect the scene of the 'accident' and send me your reports virtually, as quickly as possible."

"Y-Yes, chief." The policeman assembled and fled to the scene of their 'accident'. However, Chief Ramsay thought it was best to keep his doubts alive and found the two survivors of the accident strange.

How could the driver alone be impaled, leaving the rest of them with just a headache and slight scratches? Their lies don't seem plausible to Chief Ramsay.

An hour later, way past midnight, Dane pressed the ice pack on his forehead and was grieving utterly for his girlfriend. Wasn't there any other way? Any other soul for a sacrifice.

"Mister Summer and Miss Daine. Please follow me. We have to examine you two."

"You mean a questioning, sir?" Charlize was being careful herself.

"Yes. A questioning, haha!" The officer played it off smoothly, but Charlize smelled their act and deducted...that they were trying to prove them guilty than being innocent for Ruth's accidental death.

The officers at the scene however quickly send their assembled report to Chief. That there was indeed an accidentally and indeed…the described dead body. After a minute, the Chief walks out of his investigation room and hands the papers to Charlize and Dane.

"What are these…?" Dane asks, his eyes full of tears. The chief held less suspicion on them because his grief and agony of the heart was real.

"Your release papers. Also, I know it's hard on you two, but we present you our condolences. Officer Jules, drop them home please."

And the two went back home.

However, when Charlize reached her house first, she turned to signal Dane to follow her.

"Uh…officer. We know each other. And I'd hate to sleep alone again after…"

"Yeah, okay. I'll drop you both here." Said the officer and he left quickly.

However, Dane turned to Charlize with a grim expression.

"I know what you're thinking, Dane. But it's just the beginning." She says in a whisper, turning her back to him.

"What's the story then, Charlize? If this is 'just the beginning', tell me the whole story too! What the fuck are you? Metal- metal grows out of your arms and I'm supposed to stay calm and let you do everything! Ruth died in your hands, Charlize! You killed her!"

Charlize could understand his writhing pain inside the heart. Not only did he lose Ruth, but his nightmares have been turning true lately. She shook his head, trying to shake off reality now.

"I- I don't get it. I don't get it at all. Was it so important that you'd kill your own best friend? Ruth and I…we were working so well together! The monsters ended it all! Fuck!" Dane punched the mailbox down. His fist was bleeding, but his agony was incomparable to the one in his heart.

"I can feel your anger…Dane." She said, but her words were misinterpreted as he growled. "Of course you would—!"

However, he turned around and faced her shocked posture. Why was she wide-eyed out of the blue? By her own words? It was as if she realized something.

"I…can feel your anger, Dane!" She cried.

"Is that a bad thing?" He questioned her, wiping his tears. The clouds clapped a horrific thunder which encouraged them to take the argument into the house.

On the other hand, Dane demanded an explanation.

For everything.

He also told them ‐ Ruth and Charlize - about his vivid dream that night. Was it even a dream, by the series of events happening around him?

But Charlize was going to explain everything to him, soon.
