Just as Ethan was about to take a step closer to the entrance and enter the hospital, a sudden grip around his wrist halted him in his tracks, making him turn around to find out who had held him in place.

“Are you okay, ma'am?” he asked as he saw an older woman holding him. She looked tired and, above all, stressed.

“What if I say I am not? Would you help me out?” She smiled at Ethan, who was confused by her sudden words. He barely knew her, yet she came closer to him and even smiled at him like he was her son.

“I…” Just as Ethan was about to speak, she cut in swiftly.

“Are you sick or something? You look too healthy to be sick, you know…” She smiled as she spoke to him.

“I am not sick. I came for a reason. Can I help you to your room? You look like you stay in the hospital,” Ethan suggested, but she shook her head.

“What? No, dear… I am a worker here, and I am here for my daily shift,” she explained briefly. Ethan's brows creased at her sudden statement.
