Auction 2

Inside the auction room, a handsome young man and a stunningly beautiful woman were locked in a gaze.

Mo Shen remained composed, studying the beautiful woman's words for any hidden meaning. His thoughts spun with possibilities, each with its own motivations, but he held back, waiting for her response.

She smirked, "Relax, I'm just curious about your demeanor. It's intriguing."

Mo Shen's tone sharpened, "Can you be more straightforward? The word 'interesting' is getting old."

Her smile never wavered in the face of Mo Shen's harsh words, showing that she was not easily perturbed by his rude behavior.

"Please, let me introduce myself first," Bao Chin said, extending her hand with a smile that lit up the room. Her allure was undeniable, but Mo Shen remained unaffected.

"I'm Mo Tan," he replied, giving her a false name as he took her hand in a handshake.

"Bao means 'treasure' in Ancient Chinese. Your Chinese heritage is apparent, but your Korean proficiency is remarkable."Mo Shen commented,

"You're partially correct," Bao Chin corrected, raising her glass to her lips for a sip. "I'm half Chinese and half Korean."

Mo Shen's tone shifted, growing serious. He fixed his gaze on Bao Chin as he asked, "What's the real reason you asked me here?" His eyes studied her intently, waiting for her response.

With a smile, Bao Chin straightened herself in her seat before speaking with a hint of pride in her voice.

"I'm in search of talented individuals who can be of use," Bao Chin stated with a smile. The underlying meaning of her words made Mo Shen's heart race, realizing that she was trying to recruit him. But for what purpose, that was the question that he desperately wanted to know.

Mo Shen's thoughts raced as he considered her offer. If she wanted him to become a gigolo, he would definitely decline.

Mo Shen, determined to gain a better understanding of the situation, asked, "May I ask for more information?" He was careful to hide the fact that he already had some good idea about her offer and this way he could ensure that he was fully informed.

Without hesitation, Bao Chin raised her hand.

"This is Ki," she spoke with pride evident in her voice as if she was someone with a higher status than the average person. Suddenly, a small ball of azure flame appeared and enveloped her hands, illuminating her entire figure with an ethereal glow.

Mo Shen pretended to be surprised and asked, "How is that possible? Are you a magician?" He feigned ignorance, even though the level of skill demonstrated was quite basic. He didn't want to raise any suspicion and had to play along.

Her smile grew wider as she demonstrated the power of her technique. "This is called frozen flame, it has the ability to instantly decrease the temperature of an object," she said as she aimed the azure flame toward a glass of wine. In a split second, the liquid inside was frozen solid.

Mo Shen feigned excitement, "That's amazing. Can you tell me how you did it?" Although he appeared to be truly interested in the surface, inwardly he was disappointed by the technique.

Mo Shen's expression hides his inner thoughts, as he analyzed the technique with his system. He noticed the combination of wind, water, and light elements, and how the flame-like appearance was just for show. In reality, Bao Chin had simply lowered the temperature in a specific area using a mixture of water and wind elements, which then circulated to form ice on her hands. Finally, she used light energy to give the ice a flame-like appearance. Despite the impressive display, Mo Shen was unimpressed as he was familiar with the same technique and knew how inefficient Bao Chin's usage of it was

"Seeing a technique like this is bad for my health," Mo Shen thought to himself. He wanted to correct her, but he suppressed his urge due to his old habits.

"Don't you feel intimidated by me?" Bao Chin's aura grew stronger, causing the ball of blue flame to expand until it was the size of a basketball.

"Why should I be afraid of you?" Mo Shen responded calmly, not showing any signs of fear as the blue flame grew larger and Bao Chin's aura intensified.

Bao Chin was pleased with his response. Typically, someone would be shocked and frightened after witnessing such an extraordinary feat. However, the young man before her was different.

"Meeting you was a good choice," Bao Chin thought to herself, as she observed Mo Shen's demeanor. Despite his efforts to conceal his power, he couldn't fully hide the mature and calm aura he exuded. It was exactly what she was looking for in a potential recruit.

"You have a strong mind and body," Bao Chin observed. "It's perfect for cultivating Ki." The admiration in her voice was clear, as she saw the potential in Mo Shen to excel in the art of cultivating Ki.

People with strong willpower are a rare find, even among cultivators. Their aura sets them apart and draws attention, making them stand out among their peers. The man in front of him is the epitome of this.

"Good, you pass my assessment, As for your questions," Bao Chin paused for a moment, her fingers brushing against her lips as she gathered her thoughts. "I'll do my best to answer them."

"I am a proud member of the Scorpio sect," Bao Chin declared, her eyes shining with pride.

"You see, Mo Tan, the cultivation world is much different from what you may know. It's a world where strength and power reign supreme, and those who possess it hold control over the masses.

"It's a world that is hidden from the eyes of normal people, but those who are part of it, hold the key to unlock immense power and strength."

Mo Shen looked excited, masking his true feelings behind a guise of bewilderment.

"Don't you worry that I'll let the world know about your existence?" He asked, fixing his gaze on Bao Chin.

"Why would anyone believe you? You're smart enough to know what's good for you." She let out a laugh and handed him a card.

He smiled back and took the unique black metal card, engraved with the symbol of the scorpion sect. The card acted as a conductor and served as a key to access hidden underground locations.

He held the black metal card in his hand, tracing the engravings with his finger. The symbol of the Scorpion Sect was etched deep into the metal, making it clear what organization this card represented. He muttered the words "Scorpion Sect" to himself

He remembered this place from past documents. According to his memory, the Scorpion Sect was one of the first organizations to be destroyed during the great purge, due to its location being directly below a gate.

Bao Chin gestured with her hands as she spoke, explaining the rigorous training and discipline required to become a cultivator. She spoke about the physical and mental fortitude needed to hone one's abilities and reach new heights of power. Mo Shen nodded, his expression serious as he pretend to absorb the information.

The two continued to discuss the topic, delving deeper into the world of cultivators and what it truly took to become one. Their conversation was filled with awe and respect for these powerful beings and the path they had chosen to walk. As they talked, it was clear that they both held a deep appreciation for the skills and dedication required to become a cultivator

He listened to her attentively and began asking other questions just to make sure he doesn't blow his cover.

The auction went smoothly, ending without any issues. Mo Shen was pleased with his acquisition, having obtained an artifact that would serve him well.

After the auction, they parted ways without any disturbances. It was fortunate that Bao Chin did not intentionally ask personal questions, allowing him to hide the fact that he lived alone and did not come from a wealthy family.

Now, Mo Shen had another option in regard to his cultivation path. Of course, he won't just enter Scorpion Sect like an idiot without checking its benefits first. His main goal was still to create his own organization, and joining a sect now would be counterproductive if the benefits were lacking.
