Paying a visit

A series of muffled sounds can be heard over the roofs of multiple buildings. His body flickered while the darkness of the night covered him. His movements were so swift, so elegant, yet so deadly. It was like seeing death descend on earth.

That's what he thought an overpowered main character in a novel would do, but Mo Shen was different; he would not do something so stupid and unnecessary.

He took a cab and went to Nathan's house like an ordinary boy with a normal working mind. Power is everything in this world. And regardless of how much knowledge he had, it will be useless if he doesn't reach his full potential. He can't be complacent just because he had an arsenal of spells at his disposal. He was like a nuclear reactor without enough uranium to work properly.

"Oh, so this is his house?" Mo Shen smiled the moment he saw the mansion. His eyes shine as if he had discovered a gold mine.

As he approached the massive gate, he took note of the intricate details that adorned it. The wrought iron bars were twisted into elegant shapes and patterns, the wooden panels of the guardhouse were polished to a high shine, and the hinges that supported the gate were made of brass that gleamed in the moonlight. The gate was so large that it could easily accommodate two cars side by side. It was evident that no expense was spared in securing the premises.

As he walked closer to the guardhouse, Mo Shen noticed the two guards on duty, dressed in uniform, standing at attention.

"Stop, what business do you have ?" One of the guards who was wearing a black suit blocked his way.

"I'm here to see the owner," Mo Shen said, his voice calm and steady.

The guard looked at him skeptically, sizing him up. "Do you have an appointment?"

Mo Shen shook his head. "I don't need one."

The guard raised an eyebrow. "I'm sorry, but you can't just walk in here without an appointment."

"My name is Mo Shen. Tell your boss that I'm the one who beat up his son... and also his paid... let's just say paid associates."

The guard was taken aback by Mo Shen's statement. They were all aware of the fate that had befallen their young master.

The guard was taken aback by Mo Shen's boldness. Why would he come here, of all places, instead of running away or going to the police? It seemed he was either incredibly brave or incredibly foolish.

"Listen, kid. If you're just messing around, I highly recommend you turn back now before you get hurt," warned the guard, who had a less-than-favorable opinion of Nathan and didn't want to see this young man get into trouble for no good reason.

"Don't worry about me, just tell them I'm here," Mo Shen remained calm. He was seemingly waiting for the guard to call his master.

"I'll tell them, but you better be ready for what's coming," the guard warned Mo Shen before turning to make the call. Despite his initial skepticism, Mo Shen's confidence and calm demeanor made it clear that he was not joking.

***

Inside the mansion, Mo Shen was sitting on a European-style sofa while waiting for the master of the house. The room was large, with high ceilings and a spacious layout.

One of the maids had brought him some tea and a cake. He was served Tieguanyin tea, which cost around four Million won per kilo, and a molten chocolate cake that also looked quite expensive.

"So, you're the one who took down my son and my men," A man in his 50s entered the room. Mo Shen did not stand up, but instead continued to leisurely sip his tea.

"Your composure is remarkable," Nathan's father said as he sat down across from Mo Shen.

"Are you not afraid that I might kill you right now, or do you think you can leave this place alive after what you've done?" He fixed his gaze on Mo Shen, trying to decipher his identity.

"You must be Nathan's father,"

"I know you're quite curious right now. After all, 20 armed men were defeated by a single high school student. Most people would see it as a joke, but not you." Mo Shen continued sipping his tea, unperturbed by the old man's scrutiny.

He is influential enough to know about the existence of these hidden monsters, but unfortunately, he only knows that they exist. He is no longer worthy of accessing anything else.

That's why he's in a predicament right now. He can't be impulsive in front of this young boy. If the boy is part of that hidden society, then there's a big chance that his family's bloodline will end tonight.

Nathan's father tried to mask his nervousness as he gazed intently at Mo Shen. He didn't want to betray his fear, but at the same time, he couldn't help but be cautious.

Of course, his facade was useless in front of Mo Shen. He could hear his uneasy breathing and see his legs shake slightly beneath the table that separated them.

Everything was going as planned. Mo Shen didn't come here for revenge but simply to request compensation for the inconvenience caused to him. He had a hunch that Nathan's father knew about their secret society, judging by his reaction.

"Ten billion won, not to kill all of you,"  Mo Shen's sudden declaration caught Nathan's father off guard.

The old man's grip tightened on the teacup as he took a sip, his eyes fixated on Mo Shen.

"Ten billion won might seem like a lot, but it's actually a bargain for what you put me through. And let's not forget, I broke my promise of keeping a low profile just to deal with your men."

The old man's hand trembled, causing the cup he was holding to slip from his grip. It fell to the ground, shattering into countless pieces on the floor.

Crack

The sound of the shattering cup snaps the old man from his senses.  His face paled as the reality of the situation hit him. He tried to speak, but his throat felt dry and constricted.

The atmosphere grew tense between the two. Mo Shen remained silent, calmly sipping his tea, as if he was giving the old man time to process what had just been said.

This talk could only end in two ways. Either he agrees and pays Mo Shen 10 billion won, or he refuses, in which case he will just kill everyone and destroy all the evidence that connects him to this family.

Mo Shen was always prepared for any eventuality, and this situation was no exception.

The old man's hand trembled as he pointed his finger at Mo Shen, but quickly realized the implications of his actions. He slowly lowered his hand, struggling to maintain his composure. The realization that Mo Shen was more powerful and dangerous than he initially thought struck him deeply, causing him to reassess the situation.

The old man's hand shook slightly as he leaned back in his chair. A mixture of resignation and frustration was evident on his face. He let out a defeated sigh before asking in a defeated tone, "Do you have a bank account?"

Mo Shen remained silent and took out his phone. Nowadays, people could do online banking with their cell phones. He sent his bank account number via Bluetooth.

"I expect the payment within this week." Mo Shen slowly gets up from the sofa and looks at the garden outside. His eye was as calm as ever. It was like this whole fiasco was nothing more than an inconvenience for him, not worthy of his attention.

"Yes,... I'll process it right away." The old man was still shaking to the bone, his hand getting colder by the minute. He wanted to end this conversation as soon as possible.

"And remember to tell your son to never mess with me." Mo Shen's tone became serious. His aura changed, and the already frightened man became more suffocated.

Mo Shen continued, "If he ever crosses me, there will be consequences"

He left the mansion unscathed, and everyone wonders what happened inside. The only thing they find confusing was their master's sudden change in mood. He summoned his son and beat the crap out of him. After that, he told everyone to never disclose anything that happened that night.

The day after, the old man also processed some legal documents to make their transaction legitimate and pay for any taxes that Mo Shen would incur from the exchange.
