As the demons began to lower in number, the humans gradually gained the overall advantage.Though as they became disadvantaged, the demons started employing sneaky tactics to catch everyone off guard.Dream understood that the demons had fantastic teamwork. Though so far, he had only seen this among the class 1 and 2's. There had never been enough class 3 demons in a fight to really highlight their cooperation. But now there were, and Dream began to truly understand how devious they were.At this point, each human had one demon to fight. But at random intervals, a group of demons would suddenly turn their attention to a single human and attack. They would just stop facing their human and all turn to a predetermined target near them to do a blitz, trying to kill them in one go before going back to their previous targets. And if Dream didn't have the reactions, they would have already lost over 15 people. But fortunately he did, and every blitz the demons did was thwarted by this unknow
"A class 4 at the landbridge? Are you serious?"Two men were sitting inside an office. One was a lean man that looked to be no more than 30. He was dressed in a fine suit and sat in an adorned chair. The other was not quite as refined and gave off a masculine and rough aura that didn't seem to match his surprisingly charming voice. He sat across the table and made his chair look tiny compared to his overly muscular body."That is correct. And it's the reason we're back so early.""So what happened? A single class 4 would be no match for you and Idona.""Long story short, there was a stronghold on the choke that led to the mainland. There were 70 class 3's there and our team was able to take them out without much difficulty. But this class 4 had kept himself hidden and attacked one of our class 3's, Dream, who was maintaining the balance of the battle. After that, Idona and I reacted and fought this class 4, but during that time our class 3's sustained heavy losses without Dream to be
A week after the recruitment notice was sent out, the three class 4's and thousands of troops were prepared and sent out to retake the kingdom.Meanwhile, Ciroc and Idona just sat back and waited for the news. They had plans to talk to the ones who fought in order to get their opinion. If all went well, they would have additional backers. And so the battle took place. The army of 3 class 4's, 150 class 3's, and 15,000 class 2's marched to the kingdom and launched an attack. The battle was bloody, hard-fought, and although they went in strong and confident, all of that was tossed out the window in only the first few minutes. And by the end, the battle could hardly be considered a success.Although the class 4 demons were successfully killed in a smooth and advantageous battle, it was the opposite for the other forces. Upon making contact with the demons, the humans were instantly pushed on the defensive and into a fight for their lives. The most crushing thing about the battle was that
When Dream looked at his soul, he saw it in two parts. The first part was the nucleus. This is where 'he' was located. This nucleus was a big jumble of interconnected signatures and strings, and it made him who he was. It contained all his memories, experiences, and it's where he processed things. At least this was his speculation. He couldn't be absolutely sure. The second part was everything outside of this nucleus, and this was where the skills were located. All the skills were their own signatures and created a large barrier outside the nucleus like a shell. It resembled a clam and its pearl. This was where half the problem was.Since Sophia had merged with a part of his soul, this meant that her signature not only occupied a part of the shell but also the nucleus. And currently, not only was her skill signature weakened and damaged, but the connection between her shell piece and the nucleus was cut.Once Dream identified this, he didn't ask any questions and started thinking abou
[While we're at it...]Sophia spoke after she completed the last repair. And like reading her mind, Dream was immediately aware of her intentions.'You want to connect the other signatures to my soul?'[Yes. Only I have a direct connection to your soul, and I'm honestly not sure why your other skills don't. They communicate through wireless forces, but like computers, wired is always better. What do you think?]'Well, the only problem I can see is evolution. I'm going to be having that class advancement soon, and if the signatures are attached to my soul, I'm not sure if they would be able to evolve as well as we want.'[I'm still able to level up despite being attached. This means that, while I may hate it, I'm still able to evolve under the system. So I don't see any problems. Besides, if the system is really as powerful as it's supposed to be, something like this won't stop it.]'I guess. Then go ahead.'[Alright. Though this may hurt since I need to open up some connections in you
With Aegis now invisible, Dream could always keep him equipped and safe.He would no longer need to worry about reacting fast enough, and if even Aegis wasn't enough to protect him, then he could only assume the world wanted him dead."An unexpected but very bountiful harvest. But I'm still not done with him."[Indeed. We can still enhance his enchantments. Beginning now.]With that, the globe network activated once more and pulsated with mana. Aegis also responded and his enchantments were changed, making him even stronger and more versatile than he ever has been. This only took several minutes to complete under the power of the globe network. When it was done, Dream nodded in approval."Good. A class 4 should be hard-pressed to easily breach this armor. Should be, anyway. Won't know until I fight one. Anyway, there's one last thing we need to do. Ready Aegis?""Of course, my lord."Saying so, Aegis formed into a solid sphere with a hollow center. Dream put his hands on the sphere an
When Idona was first explaining this grand meeting, Dream had been a bit worried. But after hearing that it was in 4 days, he relaxed."If we still have time before this meeting, then we're good. I'm assuming I'll just be expected to explain my intelligence, which I can do. As for the people there, it doesn't really matter. It's not like I'm trying to network or anything.""You're really okay with speaking in front of those people? Everyone worth their salt in the Empires is going to be there. This is one of the biggest meetings ever held in history.""It seems so. What would make it bigger though is if the bigshots from the animal Empires were here as well.""The animal Empires? Why them?""Well, I'm not sure about the geography on the continent, but the demons have spawned on the third continent, which has access not only to us but the animal continent as well. So I can only assume the demons are attacking the animal Empires as well. I think the Old Man said there was your home Empi
[We have enough.]Sophia spoke as another droplet was created. Dream, who had lost quite a bit of energy, stopped condensing mana."*sigh* Nice. Let's see, the meeting is in a day. Can I advance by then?"[Depends on what the system wants. If it's just making the pathways the way I think it does, then this'll only take a few hours.]"Maybe we should premake the pathways. I don't want to be on the system's schedule."[That could have possible problems.]"Worst case the system says I don't have 'proper pathways' and I move on. I don't need the system to determine what pathways are best for me. If it thinks liquid mana enchantments are crap, then so be it."[Good point. Then let's start now. No time to waste.]Sophia agreed and began the process of creating Dream's mana pathways. When Dream spoke about doing a full body pathway, he wasn't joking. The plans Sophia had were to infuse his entire body with liquid mana. This included his blood, muscles, brain, bones, and everything in between
