“Let’s return,” Rael spoke after a minute.
“But that…zombie…” One of the scouts in his team hesitated.
“That’s not an opponent we can think of defeating.” Rael said, “Let’s not waste our time and deal with the rest of the zombies in this region.”
“But, will it be possible to ever defeat it?” One of the scouts asked, gritting his teeth as he was still reeling from shock and fear of seeing the hill-sized zombie.
“Yes,” Rael nodded confidently, “The size of the Agate Stars can be increased. I’ll need to manually refine more Agates into them. But it’s possible.”
“So, once everyone in our settlement has the power, we’ll work on strengthening ourselves.” Rael nodded, “Over time, as we defeat more and more zombies, we would eventually be able to take on that zombie, given we save it as the last zombie that we face on the surface.”
“Alright, hope we get t
“Everyone!” It was the evening of the next day as Rael stood on a platform, addressing the fifty recruit scouts that had received their Agate Child Stars, “You’ve just received the power of Plasma. In the following days, Captain Xahn would be drilling into you everything you need to learn as a scout.” “It might seem like we’re hurrying through things, and that is true.” Rael nodded, causing them to gaze at him in surprise, “And that’s because the concentration of the zombie radiation is visibly increasing with the passage of every day. Now that you’ve obtained the Agate Star, you too would be able to perceive the changes.” Standing at the side, Deriri listened to Rael’s words, feeling her heart thump in response, her mood heavy. Obviously, she too had noticed the difference. It was easy considering the rate of her Plasma replenishment was steadily increasing. She had timed it on the first day, wondering how much ti
The scouts continued to grow stronger as they battled more and more zombies. Moreover, they didn’t clash head on, for that would be suicide. It also wasn’t efficient. Humanity’s strongest suit was their innate intelligence. And hence, Rael had proposed to set up traps on the surface. First of them was a massive pit that was fifteen metres in height. Once the pit was created, it would be covered by a layer of rock pillars that they had forged through their Plasma. It would be neatly layered to prevent it from collapsing. And all of them would hinge on one unassuming pillar that actually bore all the stress of the trap floor. And, when the zombies moved over the trap, a scout would use the Needle Swirl to break this linchpin, causing the artificial floor to collapse. Once the zombies fell into the pit, the scouts would drop boulders upon them, killing the zombies safe and sound. There was no re
“Chief, a Titan Zombie had arrived!” A scout ran into the settlement, shouting the moment he appeared before Rael’s house. “A Titan Zombie? Where?” Rael exited the house, asking in a hurry. “Follow me, Chief!” The scout said and took off into the air using Pulsor. Rael followed suit as upon seeing him, Xahn too followed them. … “A Titan Zombie…” Derisher flew into the air, heading towards the Titan Zombie as he noticed its eyes widen in surprise upon seeing him. “Freaking royal that had abandoned us…” Derisher grunted in anger and unsheathed his Agate Blade, holding it using his Needle Swirl as he slammed it into his opponent, surprised when it didn’t even scrape the opponent. A faint Plasma Barrier flickered on the skin of the Titan Zombie, protecting itself against the attack as it gazed at the figur

[Emergency! Security breach! I repeat, security…]Boom!Sirens honked while flames blazed among the white-walled research institute. Three research assistants, wearing spacesuits, ran across the corridor, the low gravity of the planet troubling them in this situation.“Section Commander, the Garracks have breached the northern base.” One of the research assistants hollered across the radio, one whose signal spiked in static until the transmission was deemed impossible.“Get to safety.” Wearing a battlesuit that shone with a resplendent blue was a middle-aged man, a hardened soldier, the Section Commander that was in charge of the research facility’s safety. His battlesuit covered him from head to toe, not even revealing a hint of his features, protecting him against the radiation unleashed by the enemies.“The nightmare has reached us in
“Irrespective of their health condition, the military would accept anyone that applies. But, their screening test has a high fatality rate. If he dies, we can forget about receiving monetary support from his mother.” The voice of his aunt resounded through the earpiece as Rael sighed, ‘Her motive is still the same.’The moment he slammed the door shut in anger and entered his room, Rael panted a little in exhaustion, took in a deep breath before approaching his study table, pulling out an earpiece from within. He placed it on his ear and switched it on, hearing his aunt’s voice. Of course, he was already used to her comments and her two-faced character. And, the reason for that was simple. His parents were researchers that had been posted on an Outpost to research a military secret. So, nothing about their work, apart from the fact that they are researchers was known to others.
“What…what the heck is this?” Rael was flabbergasted as he flailed his arms, unable to touch his bed, failing to anchor himself to it.Floating in the air, with no sense of support was horrifying, especially since he was looking at the coin that had mysteriously appeared before his face.<Ding!>[Genetic sequence detected. No...argh!”After the mysterious power vanished, he fell on the bed, grunting in response as the air in his lungs was exhaled forcefully. Gasping for breath, he groaned, slowly stabilising his breathing
“Dad, you must get revenge for me.” Carrak bolted into a room and shouted, expressing his anger.“Who’s the enemy?” A calm and collected voice resounded as a man peeked over a stack of books.“Rael Rukh!” Carrak gritted his teeth, saying.“…” His father frowned, unable to recall who that was, turning around to gaze at the figure of his wife seated nearby.Sporting an expression of annoyance, she whispered, “It’s that sick classmate of his.”“Ah!” He nodded, controlling his urge to facepalm, ‘Such tantrum for a sick child.’He sighed in disappointment, glaring at Carrak, “What has a sick child done to you now?”“He stabbed me!” Carrak shouted, showing his hand that had a tiny, insignificant injury, only realising n
