Marcus arrived at Kathie's home, which was more massive than he would have thought, tall and beautiful with many trees. Almost every part of the building was built with glass.

He pressed the intercom at the gate and waited for a response, but no one answered. He pressed it again, yet still, no one answered. He wondered what was wrong. He was about to turn back and leave when he remembered the bruise he saw on her hand the other day.

Turning back to the gate, he pressed the intercom again, but still, no one responded. He banged on the gate instead, repeatedly calling out, "Kathie! Kathie! Kathie!" Just then, the door creaked open, and there stood a man of the same height as him.

"Hello," he said, putting on a smile, but the man frowned instead and demanded, "What the hell are you doing here? How could you be banging on the gate like that?"

"Oh, I have pressed the intercom, but no one answered me. Is Kathie home?" Marcus inquired, scanning the compound but couldn't see any trace of her.
