chapter 2

The man moved closer to Marcus and he could feel his hot breath. The man asked, "Who the hell are you?".

Even though Marcus was scared he managed to summon his courage, "I should be the one asking that, who the hell are you and why are you with my wife".

Again, everyone laughed at him.

Lydia introduced the man, "you see you are ignorant and doesn't even know anything, he is Hales, the heir of the renown Hansel group. and can kill you with just a snap of his fingers".

Hales faced Marcus, "I said who are you".

"I am her husband", Marcus answered under pressure. Hales swiftly turned at Lydia.

"But you tell me you don't have a husband", he frowned at her.

Lydia hugged Hales, "Don't mind this delivery man, he is just a clown that I use when I want to inherit from my father, he is a fake, he is to act like a fake husband".

"Fake marriage… Lydia, how could you say that, you call our six years of marriage a fake", Marcus head spinned.

"Yes, not that we have sex or sleep in the same bed", she snapped at him.

Marcus had been a servant in the marriage, because that was what he meant to be. Marcus was working in Lydia's father's company, and one day, Lydia approached him and requested a fake marriage from him so she could inherit his father's properties because that was what her father wanted. They had a simple marriage then, then after two years when her father died, she inherited the company and all properties.

Marcus wanted to leave then, but Lydia told him to stay because she loved him and wanted him to be his real husband, but Lydia just changed the story. Calling him a fake husband right in his face.

"How could you say that Lydia, was it not you that….".

Lydia immediately cut him off, "what? Am I lying, look at my face and tell me that is not the truth, I even pay you for it, $50,000".

Everyone burst into laughter and chorused.

"So he is simply just a contracted husband".

"He has no any shame"

"What a lowlife and shame".

Hales intervened, "that's interesting, I can't believe your fake husband is feeling bad that I am throwing a birthday party for you when he can't ".

Marcus went off with it as he grabbed his collar and wanted to punch him but Lydia pushed him back.

"Don't you dare touch him, do you know who he is? He is Hales, the heir of the Hansel group!"She yelled at him.

"So, you are doing this because of who he is", Marcus' voice trembled, he had already fallen in love with her.

Lydia was a successful business woman, and she was the one that told Marcus to stay because she fell in love with him. But now, things were getting tough for her and she really needed someone who could help her career and pushed her back to the limelight.

"You are poor Marcus, an orphan and even not irrelevant, you work as a part time delivery and also a cleaner, you are not the one I want for my life, you keep drawing me back", she sneered at him.

"Things will change, I am trying hard for you, I will prove myself to you, Lydia I really love you so much", Marcus couldn't hold the tears as it flowed down.

Lydia glued beside Hales, "He is the one I wanted, the one that can help my career, you don't have the right to be angry or feel bad, not that you are a real husband".

Marcu's whole body vibrated, he didn't even know what to say any longer.

"Even if I am a fake husband, do I deserve to be cheated on", he asked.

"Yes, and you don't deserve to talk, you better scrape away before he calls the security on you".

Hales spoke with an air of authority, "yes, I will call the security and that won't do you good at all. You are even smelling, get out of here".

Lydia backed him up, "yes, he is seriously smelling, how can I even point you as my husband when you are like this, a whole me, a whole Lydia Harrison. You must be stupid".

Marcus was astonished by Lydia's transformation, she was sweet on him this morning.

He sniffed, "okay… just wait for me to be rich and see how I will get back at you".

"Wow, what the trash this lowlife man is saying", Tom hauled and everyone laughed.

Lydia walked toward him, "stop dreaming, you will always be poor. You can never be rich".

Mrs. Jay chimed in, "poor people always think they can be rich overnight. See, I will wait to see you suffer".

"Marcus, in the drawer at home, there is a divorce letter, I have signed it for the last few months, it remains your part, sign it and pack your things out of my house", she said.

"Divorce, so you have been thinking about this for a long time".

"Yes, I don't want you anymore in my life. I will send $50,000 to you, you can use that to get an apartment", Lydia uttered.

Marcus nodded, "okay, so, there is not anything special between us for all these years of marriage?".

Mrs. Jay jumped in the middle, "you are nothing, I have told her several times to send you away, but my daughter is just too merciful and has pity for you because you are poor and have nowhere to go".

"So, you have been with me simply because you pity me?", He questioned.

"Yes, it is all out of pity, just get out away from here and don't spoil the fun", she spat at him.

Hales pushed him and he nearly fell, "ragman, get out of here before I call the security on you".

Marcus scanned them all as they laughed at him, what pained him most is that he was familiar with everyone of them and they just pretended like he was nothing.

He bent down and picked up the cake and gave Hales, "this is what I have to deliver".

"You can eat that, since you might spend the time out today, you should eat something", Hales said, dipped his hand inside the pocket and threw some cash at him.

"That's your payment and also a tip", he said and faced the people.

"Dj, raise the music, let not a lowlife spoil our enjoyment", he hauled as their music returned and everyone jumped, screaming, forgetting he was there.

Marcus bent down and picked the money, he had to so he could give his boss the payment.

Everyone pointed at him and laughed. He gently walked out, holding the upcoming tears.

He exited the bar and mumbled, "is it my fault that I am poor?", he whimpered, sniffing.
