Chapter 8

Marcus eyes shut up upon seeing his belongings outside, and Penelope was seated close to them. First, he saw his wife with another man in the shopping mall. and now Penelope wanted to chase him out of the house, Marcus quickly walked straight to her.

“Mother, what is the meaning of this? I demand an explanation. Why are my belongings outside?”

Penelope gazes at Marcus. With dead eyes, she stood up from her seat, her face filled with anger. One can easily tell she's angry.

“You're useless, which is why all your belongings are outside. I don't want to see you around this house or get close to my daughter anymore. Pack your belongings and leave quickly.”

Penelope couldn't believe the bastard will still had the guts to step his feet inside the compound. It brought all his belongings out to throw them away. She thought the bastard would be in jail or with the police by now, but here he is, asking her dead questions.

Marcus wasn't having any of this; he knew it was because of him that they were in this situation, and Hazel and his daughter had been treated badly in the family just because of him, but things have changed now. He was about to say something when Hazel and Charles came out of the house.

Marcus's eyes turned deadly immediately. He couldn't hold his emotions any longer and uttered a voice filled with anger.

“Hazel, I demand an explanation: What is the meaning of all this? What were you doing with him at the shopping mall? What is he doing here?”

Marcus couldn't keep calm anymore; he never expected any of this from Hazel, not when his life had changed drastically.

“She owns you no explanation, young man; you talk for yourself; it's clear as day; you're useless, and Hazel wants to be with someone capable, someone that can take care of her very needs; and that man is me. I would advise you to quietly carry your belongings and leave.”

Hazel wasn't happy since Marcus didn't come home with the clothes he said he wanted to buy for them in the shopping mall; it simply meant he went there to steal. She never expected Marcus to get himself into that kind of act; she knows things haven't been going well for him ever since they got married, and she was the one who forced him to give her family all his money. She looks at Marcus from head to toe; it seems he's not hurt. Did they just let him go freely or what? She followed Mr. Charles. to the shopping mall because he promised to help them secure the contract. She knows Marcus promised to help, but she knows he can't, and she doesn't want to divorce him.

Charles also promised to help Ivy get admitted to school; all she had to do was follow him to a few dinners and go shopping. She never expected to see Marcus at the shopping mall. Hazel stayed quiet, and Marcus was not happy. Penelope utters.

“Mr. Charles, my capable son-in-law, promises to help Hazel get the Sam Yellow Company contract; he also promises to give Ivy a good life and take care of her as his child, something you're incapable of. You should be happy that someone responsible is trying to take care of your responsibility, shameless boy.”

“Mother, don't blame him too much; this is how poor people behave; he couldn't even tell me thank you for saving his life when he was caught right-handed stealing inside the store; they didn't raise a finger on him and allowed him to leave just because of me, they know how much I spent in the store, I just told them I knew him; I don't want Ivy to feel sad when his father gets hurt.”

Penelope looks at Charles with a surprised look on her face. No wonder the bastard isn't hurt, and he still has the guts to talk nonsense.

“Charles, you should have let them deal with him. He's useless to his daughter. All schools have been rejecting her, and the bastard can't find a solution. He's not worthy to be called a father. He's a disgrace. No one sent him to steal. He's useless, so demn useless.”

“Mother, I just needed to help; even though he doesn't appreciate it, he can't offer me anything anyway.”

Marcus' eyebrows were raised. He couldn't believe Charles would claim he was the one who helped him out of the shopping mall when he wasn't. He then gazed at Hazel, hearing what Charles said: that he was going to help the family secure the contract and help Ivy get admitted to school. He finally realized that it must be the reason Hazel followed him to the shopping mall. He must have demanded something in return, and Penelope is doing all of this to force him out. Although Penelope never likes him, Hazel must be doing all of this, thinking she can do it alone. That must have been the reason she just kept quiet, not wanting to offend Charles. And from the look in her eyes, he doesn't want to divorce her. She is just disappointed. He told her he was going to see his friend who was going to help them, but she saw him in the shopping mall. But she should not worry anymore; everything will be alright from now on.

He gazes at Charles with dead eyes and utters

“I don't want any help from you; I promise Hazel I'm going to make it possible for her to get 30% of that contract, which I'm still going to do.”

Penelope clenched her fists, and it was shaking. She couldn't believe the bastard still has the guts to speak; he's definitely mad.

“Shut up your mouth, you are a mad man; you want us to believe that empty crap you say, but let me tell you, whether you like it or not, you are leaving this house today.” Marcus didn't listen to what Penelope just said, he then faced Penelope.

“I will help you get the 30 percent contract tomorrow; if I can't get it done, if I fail to do so, I will divorce Hazel.”
