Chapter 003

It was a sunny afternoon. Marcus had left his house really early in the morning

His mind was still in shock because of the address sent to him by his father yesterday.

Marcus knew he would clear his doubts when he saw his father.

He was just shocked because the place he was going to was we're really influential people lived in Edinburgh.

Marcus wondered if something had changed in his father. He knew his father did not like bringing his children to we're he worked.

This caused extra confusion for Marcus. Why did he call it home, he wondered.

The day was already sunny when Marcus got to the neighborhood. He kept looking like a lost puppy on the sidewalks of the houses he passed.

It would be really shocking if his father got a job in any of these houses, he thought.

He could see buildings he only saw on the television all around him.

Everything in the area radiated wealth. Of stinkingly rich people.

Marcus finally got to the address his father sent to him on his phone.

He was rendered speechless. He knew he had seen different awesome buildings since he got to the area. But this was best of all.

In front of Marcus was a palace. That was the only name he could call it.

It was so luxurious on the outside he wondered if the inside could match up with it.

The outside was coated with a thick layer of Gold that reflected under the sunlight. It was an artwork.

Marcus saw a car parked outside. It was one of the latest series of the BMW brand.

It was painted matte black, and looked sleek . He wondered where the owner of the car got the money to buy it.

Marcus shifted his attention right over to the building itself.

He couldn't imagine the amount that had been used to build a building like this. He could not even imagine the brains behind the building.

Even though the environment radiated of the stinkingly rich people, this place was definitely for the really opulent ones amongst them.

In other words, the one percent of the one percent lived here.

Marcus was lost in a world of his own. He wondered if he got lost and went to another place entirely.

He had to check his phone again to make sure he was in the right place.

Marcus felt lost. Since he was not at the wrong address sent to him, maybe his father was the one who sent the wrong address to him.

He tried reaching his father again and found out he still could not get through. He wondered what was wrong.

“I think I should just leave this place.” he thought out loud. “After all, I do not want to embarrass myself.”

Marcus was seemingly still lost in thought, when the gates started opening.

A man started walking out. It was a well built man in a dark suit.

The suit looked to be in pristine condition, as was the man. He had dark shades over his eyes, so Marcus could not really see all of his face.

Benjamin Marriott had just finished with his business inside with his employers. He just got a deal to partner with the Krafth's.

He had been exceedingly happy when he got introduced to the Krafth family. They were the richest family, not only in the city of Edinburgh but also one of the richest in the country of Grammsville.

Benjamin or Ben as most people called him, had made sure to prepare himself not only physically but also mentally.

What he saw, however, still shocked him when he got to the meeting point.

He also had the same stunned look as Marcus had now. He couldn't believe his eyes.

Ben was happy coming out of the house after the signing of his deal. He knew the sky was his limit after this.

He was on his way to his car parked outside a man on the sidewalks staring at the Krafth's building lost in thought.

Ben wondered how the beggar was able to get inside the estate. One could not blame him for calling Marcus a beggar.

Even though Marcus was not dressed in his work garb today, the clothes he wore outside was just slightly better.

It was not in tatters like his work clothes, but it had definitely faded out and looked worn out.

“Hey, you.” Ben called out. “Are you lost or what?”

Marcus snapped out of his thoughts and daydream when he heard the voice. He looked over the man as the man also looked him over.

“I'm not sure if I am. My father sent me this address and I still I'm not sure if he made a mistake or something”. he replied

“You don't know if he made a mistake?” Ben asked with his eyebrows raised.

He started laughing. “Look at yourself, do you think you can even get invited into a house such as this? Even for the lowest of works you can find here?”

Marcus was annoyed. But deep down, he knew it was the truth. With the way he looked, he couldn't even afford to work here.

“You are just a frog at the bottom of the well.” Ben continued. “ You can just keep on staring at the small patch of the sky you can see.”

“You can't even dream to achieve a quarter of what the Krafth's have achieved in your wretched lifetime.”

“Krafth's? Did you just say Krafth's!” Marcus asked with his eyes almost bulging out of his sockets.

“What? You are shocked now, right?” Ben said while feeling a sense of self importance.

“I just signed a partnership deal with them”. One could literally see Ben's chest puff out through his chest.

Marcus however was not really concerned with all of that. He didn't know exactly the emotion to describe what he felt right now.

It was a mixture of shock, uncertainty, doubt and disbelief.

Of course, he had heard of the Krafth family before. Everyone in the country had, at one point or the other.

But he had always thought the name was just one that sounded alike. He never thought they were related or anything of the sort.

Now he really had to enter the house to find out.

“My name is Krafth. Marcus Krafth in fact.” he replied with a slight hint of pride in his voice.

Ben started laughing out loud. He bent over at a point. He had heard the most incredulous thing in his life from this person today.

“What business does an ant have with gods? I already told you, you very likely lost your way.” he said.

“You should leave here before the security comes outside to throw you out of the estate for being a nuisance.” Ben warned.

Marcus started thinking again, he was worried because it was still hard to believe for him.

He knew his father was not one to pull such a joke on him.

His father also was not the type to drink or was he suffering from old age. He was a man fully in his capabilities.

Marcus knew he had to decide soon, before what Ben had just said came to pass.

He decided to trust his father and get to the root of all this.
