Chapter 006

What is going on, Marcus thought. Can this even be true.

Marcus had been looking into space for a while. If what his sister said was true then, he did not even know what to believe again.

Juliet had been staring at her brother since she finished explaining to him.

She could see different emotions pass through his face since she stopped talking.

Juliet could tell one thing for certain. Her brother was angry.

She had kept tabs on Marcus since. She knew what he had been going through. About the bullying and beatings and every other thing.

She knew about how his boss at work decided to discredit him and even later beat him, because of the project he submitted to him.

She was also angry for him. Juliet knew Marcus did not deserve all of that.

When she first got to know about her family's wealth, she had begged her father, times without number, to call her brother home. She was denied every single time.

She later understood that there was no possible way to change her father's mind.

Mr Krafth, Marcus's father also made it abundantly clear that she could not actively aid him in any manner. He had to pass throught everything on his own.

They had been seated, quite a while now. Some maids came in, with some snacks. They placed them in front of Marcus and left.

Marcus was still lost in thought. He hadn't even noticed the food in front of him.

Everything that had happened to him today was mind numbing.

“Why?” Marcus asked. “No, I know why, but…, do you realize how I've been treated these past few years?’

“I've been working hard to provide for myself, my wife. I could hardy make ends meet. I could not even get her everything she wanted.”

“You know, one of the reasons I was denied entry here was the way I dressed. Juliet, I've had these clothes since we last saw. Nine whole years!” Marcus said.

Juliet could hear the raise in his voice.

“I knew about all of that. I could not help though. Father made himself clear.”

“But Marcus, I can't for sure say I know how painful it has been all this while, but I want you to know that is in the past now.”

“Your life had just got that big change you've always wanted. It's up to you to do the right thing with it.” she said.

“Now that you've passed the test,” Juliet said while smiling, “it's about time you took over the company, after all, father is getting old.”

“Also, another part of the ancestors commands was also that, once the son passes the test, it will be his turn to lead the company.”

Juliet was watching her brother, she could tell he had changed when she first saw him.

Now, she could tell he had matured even more, after he digested what she told him. Maybe that test had it's own advantages, she thought.

“Also, because I saw how you were being treated at your workplace, I decided to buy the factory in your name.”

Another shock for Marcus. “ You bought the factory?” he asked. “For me?”

“Yes, it's nothing. It was just a very meagre amount, and it's also a welcome back gift from me.” She said.

Marcus laughed throatily. Revenge is a dish best served cold. It was time to pay back everyone who treated him wrong at his place of work.

He could already envision the look on the faces of Mr Luis and his friends when they get to know that he was the new owner of where they all worked.

“How much did you pay to buy the factory though? That factory should be worth nothing less than nine million pounds based on my earlier estimations.”

“I gave them an offer they could not refuse. I paid them ten million pounds up front.” Julia laughed.

“What! Ten million? How rich are we exactly, Marcus asked.

“I've been waiting for you to ask. I'm going to tell you the first way dad explained it to me.”

“If we say, we are the third richest family in the country, no other family will come out to say they are the second or the first.” Juliet laughed.

“Our family is the sole provider for the economy in over fifteen different countries around the world. Dad and I just celebrated our fifth quadrillion last month.”

“We are well on our way to the sixth, in fact.”

Marcus tried to do the maths in his head. The only thing he could understand now was that, his family was over five hundred times richer than a trillionaire.”

He knew his story had changed right from that moment. His wife would enjoy everything he had, and she would get any and everything she wanted.

Marcus smiled. Juliet could tell that the anger in him seemed to have diminished to nothing.

She was happy for him. Happy that people who treated him wrong will see him in a different way.

Happy that his life was about to change for good, just like hers did.

“My wife is going to be so happy when I tell her. I can already imagine that beautiful face light up just as before.” he said.

“Marcus, there's only one problem though.” she said.

     “What is it?” Marcus answered.

“You absolutely can not tell your wife about your new found wealth.”

“What? Why do you say so? She had been with me ever since. We've been going through everything together, and now that you say everything is changed, you don't want her to know?” Marcus asked.

“No, Marcus, it's nothing like that. I have nothing against your wife.”

“In fact, I wish you could tell her, but you just can't.

“Your wife is not the problem. It's her family.”

Marcus rembered his wife's family, he always disliked them, just the way they did, him. He wondered how that will change when they found out who he is now.

The shock on their faces, their acceptance of him. Marcus knew he was also going to get his revenge on them.

This was just not the time to think about that. “I'm listening to you, what is wrong with her family now.”, Marcus asked.

“The Mills family have aligned with an old enemy of ours. They are a joint cooperation of all our enemies.”

“They pooled up all their resources to create just one company, that is not equal to ours, but is close by.”

“They have been targeting us ever since. They would do anything and go to any length to bring us down.”

“The Mills family recently got acquainted with them, and they are likely already working together with them.” Juliet said.

“That was why I said you should not tell her. In the event that she tells her family and our enemy finds out, who knows what they might try to do to you?”

Marcus thought deep, his wife's family were not really in the rich part of the country.

The only thing or person that could get them acquainted to his enemy now was Richard Banks.

He was the only high class person that they knew.

“Are the Banks family part of the group that formed our enemy group?” Marcus asked.

“Yes. They are the one that brought your wife's family in.” Juliet replied.

Marcus understood at this point why he could not tell his wife anything about his changed life.

He thought about how much the Mills family hated him. I'm going to have to teach them a lesson too, he thought in his head.
