I never dreamed of being a maid but… I was doing this for my mum. She meant the world to me.
I wore something simple. A fitting blue gown. It wasn’t expensive looking. I wanted them to know I needed the job. I didn’t put make up on but I ponytailed my long black hair.
It was strange. My hair grows so fast and full. No matter how much I cut it, it grows to its normal size in no time.
I took a light blue purse along and rushed to mum’s room.
“I found a job online.”
Kimberly removed her glasses and faced me. “Already?” She sounded surprised. “What about?”
I couldn’t tell her I’d be a maid.
She’d freak out. “I-it’s a waitress job.”
“Which restaurant?”
“It’s a Spanish restaurant.”
“Where is the restaurant?”
I couldn’t keep up with questions. “I will keep my answers for the interview. Don’t worry. I’ll be back soon.”
“Stay safe. We’ll celebrate if you win.”
“You mean when I win.”
Kimberly smiled. “Keep the positive attitude, dear.”
I went out of the house and closed my eyes, breathing in. Something told me there was more to this job offer. Well, it’ll be fun finding that out.
Lot’s POV
“I’ll send the money to your account. Get out of here.”
She packed her bag and clothes, and left the room. She couldn’t give me the satisfaction I needed. No one could.
I broke the bed into half. I was half naked and sweaty. I also wasn’t in the mood for a shower. I wanted to get my anger out on something… anything. I went to the gym and blew the punching bag till it was nothing but shreds.
There was a knock on the door. I was about to reply when I saw my hands. They were claws.
“F**k.” I had transformed. I didn’t even know it. No one could see me like this. “Return in five minutes.”
I felt the person’s presence fade away. I removed Alexa’s pin from my hair and held it tight. My temperature reduced and I returned to human form. I kissed her pin and placed it back into my hair.
I only stayed on earth because I was waiting for her. Hoping we would meet. I didn’t know when or where but I could wait for a millennium if I had to.
The knock returned.
“Come in.”
Nora entered the room with her head bowed. “Sir, you told me I should inform you of the happenings in the mansion.”
“You don’t have to remind me.”
“The only thing happening today is the employment of the new maid, sir.”
I shook my head. “Sure, go ahead.”
I took a towel and rubbed my face.
“She meets all your requirements, sir.”
“All?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Employ her right away.”
She bowed and left the room for him.
Lexa’s POV
The mansion was huge. It was enormous. It was gigantic. I had to take pics. My house would melt if it stood beside the mansion.
There had to be a thousand maids taking care of it. I was at the gate, waiting for something or anything to happen. I didn’t know if I should knock or…
A bot appeared in my front. I had never seen a live robot but this interview was breaking all the records.
“I-I am here for the interview and…”
“Stay still.”
I looked around me. “Oh. Okay.”
I stood still. The bot let out some rays and scanned me. Unbelievable. The gate automatically opened.
“Welcome. You have already been employed for the job. Let me lead you to the maid quarters.”
“Wait. But I didn’t even get interviewed.”
“Welcome. You have already been employed for the job. Let me lead you to the maid quarters.”
“Right. Let’s go.”
He led me to the maid quarters. I got a better insight of the mansion. There were no flowers anywhere, which baffled me. The gardeners were constantly trimming, weeding and watering the flowerless plants.
The floor was plastered and painted in yellow. The whole mansion was painted in yellow. I didn’t like the yellow color but… mm. In the garage, I spotted nineteen of the latest cars. They were all black.
I couldn’t spot blue anywhere till my eyes met with a violet. I was about to pick it when a gardener came forward and plucked the flower. He threw it into a garbage pin. That was really rude.
The bot finally led me to a large door. The door was taller than my house.
The door opened. I don’t know why but I felt as if… I had seen many of these doors once. But where?
“I hope you enjoyed the excursion. The senior maid will be waiting for you inside.” The bot turned and strode away.
“Bye?” I faced the door and entered.
There were many lockers arranged on the walls. It reminded me of the lockers in school except these were smaller. A lot of maids were opening and closing the lockers, going and coming in.
I didn’t know where to find the senior maid. Also, it was creepy that everyone here either had green eyes or black hair.
“You must be Lexa Halton.”
I turned to the senior maid. “Yes, that’s me.”
“Follow me.”
She walked away, I followed behind, trying my best to catch up. “Welcome to the Lot Mansion. There are a total of 120 maids present in our mansion and 89 other workers. You are a maid and sir has personally put you in charge of his room. You will clean, scrub, mop and perfume his room everyday before you are allowed to leave. You must do this before he gets back from work. You will be paid $20,000 per month for your services and…”
“Whoa. Wait! Did you say, $20,000! For being a maid!”
“Sir, can increase the price if you find it meager.”
I shone my eyes. “Increase? No I think it’s perfect just the way it is.”
She continued her walk and talk. “You are getting the highest paid maid job because you meet the qualifications.” I laughed. “Are you okay, Miss Halton?”
“Yes, I’m fine. So sorry.”
“Do not put up this attitude before sir or you’ll be greatly maltreated.” She continued… again. “Your locker is no. 55 and I’ll show you to sir’s room. He just left for a meeting so I suggest you get started now.”
The room couldn’t be that big. It took me twenty minutes to reach the maids’ quarters and fifteen minutes to reach sir’s room.
I was wrong. The room took a fiftieth of his house. She handed me my uniform.
“This is really short. Shorter than the others’ uniform.”
“That’s what sir wants you to wear.”
“I think your sir must be a real psycho.”
“Watch your language Ms. Halton. Dress up and get to work. These are your equipments. Keep them up in your locker so they won’t get lost. If they do, you will be punished with a month’s work of no pay.”
That sounds crazy. “Can’t I just go buy another one?”
“I won’t do that if I were you. Get to work Miss Halton.”
She turned to leave.
“By the way senior nurse, you can call me Lexa.”
She hesitantly smiled.
She hadn’t seen a bright lad like her in years. “I’m Nora.”
Nora left the room.
I cracked my knuckles. “Time to get to work.”
Lot’s POV
Today’s meeting was the worst. I kept hearing the same thing repeatedly. I could’ve killed everyone there to keep them shut.
I reduced my killing ever since I watched a pregnant woman give birth. It was so easy to kill someone but hard to bring them into this world.
This world was horrible and cold. I missed hell. I left my most trusted demon there. There was no sign of trouble from under there in the past 547 years. I was sure everything was in shape.
I had to wait for Alexa to come. When she does, I’ll take her down there whether she likes it or not.
I got to the mansion. My mansion. No… the Lot Mansion.
Lexa’s POV
I fortunately finished up. It was a strenuous activity. It only took an hour but it was more than worth the money. I couldn’t wait to tell my mum the huge amount they would pay me.
She would explode.
I packed everything I owned and left the room in a beautiful shape. I also put a few jasmines around. His room looked and felt like hell itself. It was so hot.
I hurried away and went to the maids’ quarters.
Walking to and fro from the mansion was good exercise. Especially for my leg. Life got better for me. I used the key given to me to open my locker and packed everything in. I didn’t want to lose my first month’s salary.
I changed from that tight short maid dress to my comfy blue gown. I’d agree if they were paying me to wear the dress. It was so uncomfortable.
“You’ll get used to it.”
I faced the person talking to me. “How did you guess?”
“It happened to me too. I entered here three months ago.”
I smiled. “That’s nice.”
“Wendy.” She brought her hand forward.
“I’m Lexa.” We shook hands.
“Hey! No one’s shaking hands without me.” Another person. She took my hand and shook it fiercely. “I’m Montana but you can call me Ana.”
“Hi, Ana. I’m Lexa.”
“Don’t fracture her hand Ana,” Wendy rolled her eyes.
“Oops. Sorry. Welcome to Lot Mansion. I’ve been here for six weeks, six days and fourteen hours.”
I laughed. “That’s pretty specific,” I also smiled.
“You’re in sir’s room?” Wendy asked.
“How did you know?”
“The senior maid was really really careful with you,” Ana nodded in agreement.
I rubbed my nose. “What do you mean?”
“Never mind. It’s your closing time?”
I nodded.
Anna smiled. “Mine too.”
“It was nice meeting you. I have to head back home.”
They waved goodbye. I left the quarters and the mansion. Something was fishy about this mansion and his room. I loved the scent from his room. It was magical though it was blistering in there. I wanted to find out more about this sir.
It would be an adventure. Oh! How I love adventures.
Lot’s POV
I went to my marking room and marked another miserable day. I didn’t head straight for the room after that, I took a stop to the gym. I was all worked up and I needed to vent my anger out then get some rest.
Olia was running out of brunettes. I wanted an international girl this time. New York. Yes, perfect. I would call Mel after workout. Another punching-bag and dumbbell were destroyed. I had to get some rest.
I went over to my room.
I took a short look at the window. Cops. They were always lurking round, hoping to find something against me. They never liked me. I didn’t like them either.
Unknown to them, I was always one step ahead. They can never catch me and even if they do, I can take care of them. I can wipe out the whole police force if I want to. No one will know what hit them.
I laughed and placed my hand on the doorknob of my room when I caught a scent. It hit me like all the lava from hell.
It was beautiful.
It was jasmine.
It was fresh.
It smelt like… could it be?
I stormed into the room and sniffed everywhere. The scent was stronger inside. I smelt her everywhere. I was turned on by her scent alone.
My human heart was pacing. My devil senses were unlocking. Her scent ran me crazy knowing that she was here but isn’t here.
“Alexa was here.”
She was the one. She had to be the one. No other scent could make me go this crazy. I got a stronger scent. I looked under the bed and found a scarf. It was hers. It was Alexa’s scarf.
She loved blue. This had to be hers. I looked around me again and found jasmines placed at the corners of my room. Normally, I would have stormed up at this but I had never been so glad to see them.
I couldn’t stop smiling. She was back.
“Nora!!!” he screamed her name.
It was so loud that everyone in the mansion and past that, could hear it. Nora rushed into the room. She was scared. She served me for years and I had never called her name so loudly before. She felt the mansion shake as I called her name. She thought she would die.She knew I could kill her and get away with it. She didn’t want to die. She was tempted to beg but that’d make me angrier. She knew that.“Was it the new maid that cleaned my room?”“Sir. Yes, sir.”“What was her name?”Nora was scared to see me like this. I was panting and I had turned red. “Lexa Halton.”“Full name.”She gulped. “Alexandra Jade Halton.”“Alexa?”“Y-yes, you can call her that sir but she refers to herself as Lexa.”I was shaky. “Did she have beautiful curves?”Nora tried to recall. “Yes, sir. She did have very beautiful curves.”“And long black hair with emerald eyes.”“Yes, she did sir.”He rubbed his lips. “Make sure she gets here by ten in the morning. Not a second later.”“As you wish, sir.” Nora ru
“Some people say he’s the devil himself. He is a multi-billionaire and he owns countless industries round the globe. No one knows his first source of this crazy money.”Wendy picked it up from there. “If he wants something, he gets it no matter what it is. He goes nowhere but work and home. People in the mansion say they’ve seen him with horns…”“And others said he has a long spiky tail…”A long spiky tail? The picture of a golden devilish statue was flashing in my head. I shook that scary thought off. What the heck was that? “… He’s killed countless number of people and always gets away with it. No one is allowed to work in the mansion for more than five years. It’s because he doesn’t age. He decided to stay in Olia because he’s been banned from every other place. People don’t even know he lives here.”Ana cleared her throat. “He has no certificates, no identity cards, no passports and no world records. He’s like a ghost. He also has no finger prints and no true face. Nora is the on
Lexa didn’t blink before he made his move. How can he move so fast? That was speedily scary. He was on her, chest to chest, nose to nose and lips to lips.Elliot’s inner devil—Lot—wanted to be released. He wanted to have a taste of his mate. He controlled his devil’s hunger for her. He couldn’t move away. It was such a difficult task for him as all he wanted to do was eat her up. Lexa couldn’t move either. Elliot could hear her heartbeat. Her heart raced. Her breathing was held back.“Alexa…” Her beautiful emerald eyes shined when he called her that. “… Be more careful next time.”“Elliot or Lot?”She entered that head pain again. She was seeing things that were hidden deep in her memory. She was familiar with the name… even him but she couldn’t even imagine that they met before.“People call me Lot but I am Elliot.”She nodded, still eye-locking him.“Elliot, can you please get off?”He grinned. “Why, don’t you like it here?”“Yes… I mean No. I don’t. I’m very uncomfortable. Do you
I cleared my thoughts and placed my hand on the verse.17. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy. 19. Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;20. Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.I rolled my eyes and kept the bible in a drawer. It wasn’t that easy. Nora was trying to save my soul? It was funny to think about it. But what if? What if she was on to something?Lexa’s POVI didn’t forget that I was going for work. I almost did as I admired myself in the mirror. This blue dress was the most expensive thing I had.It was a thick light blue dress, embedded with flowers. It was sleeveless and long. Along with the dress came two white sleeves. I looked like Cinderella, without the puffiness. I straightened the curls out of my hair.
Lexa’s POVHe dropped me off. I wondered how the same person could be a jerk and a gentleman. I was so free with Elliot. It was as if I’ve known him for more than a lifetime. I knew it wasn’t normal. He had this familiar aura all around him.Anytime we talked, it felt like we were completing an uncompleted discussion we left years ago. Besides, I found him to be funny and sweet. These last hours of our life together sparked something that had never ignited before. The feeling wasn’t new but it was stronger than anything I’d ever felt. His voice was a song to my ears. A minute won’t pass by that I wouldn’t look down to his lips. And those muscles of his, he wanted to drive me crazy! Not thoughtless of his magnificent smile. I can’t forget his extraordinary beauty. Never.“Are you okay, Alexa? You’ve been staring at me for a while now.”I blinked to life. “No, I wasn’t. I-I was looking at something else.”“Are you sure? Because you’re really close to me right now.”I slowly drew myself
Lexa’s POVIn a matter of a few days, I had grown attached to the Lot Mansion. As I was already a maid, I was allowed into the mansion. This time I wasn’t coming for work. I wanted to meet Elliot and apologize. I know I might be getting ahead of myself but that wouldn’t stop me from meeting him.Nothing would send me away from him. Not even if he screamed at me.I didn’t want anyone to spot me so I would pass the main entrance. I hissed when I found it locked.“F**k. How do I take care of this now?”“Stay still.”That a voice I could recognize. It was the bot again. I turned to it.“I need help with this door so can you perhaps…”“Stay still.”Stupid bot. I stood still as he scanned me.The door automatically opened. “Sir, has recently only included you on the list of uninvited allowance into the mansion.”I smirked. “Is that so?”The bot rode away. Why did he put me on the uninvited allowance list? Was I that special to him? We barely knew each other but sometimes, it felt like we’d
Lexa hoped he’d place his palms over her eyes to wow her but… that did too.She lost her breath to the amount of jewelry she set her eyes on. Words weren’t enough to describe the riches held in the room. The room looked so smaller from the outside but rather spacey from the inside.Bars of gold took up a third of the room. Chests of precious gems poured out and filled the floor like mounts of rocks. There was an arranged set of jewelry, each kept in transparent boxes that were lined in front of the gold and diamonds which were kept at the back of the room.Every piece of jewelry was much more expensive than everything Lexa owned, put all together.“Elliot.” Lexa said the first thing that came to her mind. “These are worth billions of dollars! Where did you get them from?”He placed his cold finger on her warm lips. She always wondered why his skin was always cold. It not like she mattered if she screamed since the room was soundproof. He just wanted to tease her. “I inherited them.”
“Come in!”Nora walked into my room with a tray. A bottle of gin and a glass cup were on it. “How was your day with Lexa, sir?”Nora knew me too well. That was the reason she was still there. “You could say it was… interesting.”“What do you think Lexa feels about you, sir?”I poured the gin into a cup and gulped it in a single swallow. “If she’s the girl I met 547 years ago, I’m sure she feels me.”“You’re method of persuading her is very unlike you, sir.”I took another gulp of gin. “Yes, you’re right but Alexa is very valuable to me. I don’t want to lose her again.”Lexa’s POVI managed to escape mum once but this necklace is not safe anywhere. We have a very small house so hiding something this sparkly is a challenge. I searched for the perfect hiding spot, also thinking of where I could conceal it. Keeping this was trouble but this was the least I could do for Elliot. He really did a lot for me.I wondered why he did these. When I asked him, he never gave me a proper reply. Some
Lexa's POVYes, I was staring at something in Wendy's house. But what was I staring at? Anyone curious would want to know.I could see Rica's room all the way from my room clearly. The door was closed but not locked, and I was sure that it had all the answers to my hundred and one questions.Wendy had been called at her office, she said it was a fashion emergency. According to her, a major French actress, I didn't know of, wanted a dress made for an award show she wanted to attend. And if that was true, then that was meant to be a big deal for them.Wendy was called to manage the celebrity's dress, since she was a top designer, and she didn't think twice before cutting her leave short and rushing to her office. Ana accompanied her because she wanted to make a report on it, or something like that.Rica had been out since yesterday. She said she went to meet with some old friends of her and the last I saw of her was her disappearing into the street, literally.I had been alone at home f
Elliot's POVThe book was magnificent. Just as I imagined. Once I reached home I had already prepared myself to open it but I had to savour the moment of having the first magic book in the world. It was created by the first ever sorcerer, Gwydion the first. He had created this book of spells for the future generations of sorcerers but sorcerers and sorceresses got extinct ever since the plague. A wizard, Alizon, translated the book in such a way that any magic-possessing creature would be able to use the book effectively. The book was said to be lost after the first war of the Seven kingdoms. But it wasn't, Alizon hid it in Udhanba, one of the Seven kingdoms, in an abandoned temple and was killed right after that.At least, that was what the story said. Years after years the world become what it is and Udhanba, a great large kingdom got divided and the temple where the book was previously located was in Cambodia. For an unknown reason, I hesitated opening the book because as I touched
Lexa's POVWe came out of the restaurant, in big smiles. He was smiling the most. I tried my best not to free or open myself with him but those two hours showed a different side of his.The better side I thought he never had.Liam was born and created an angel. He told me many tales about heaven that made even me want to go there. He said that Angels grew like children on earth. They were taught the ways and traditions, and their behaviours would determine what category of angels they would fall into.Fierce angels became warriors and guardians of heaven, ready to fight at every instance of their life. Super-curious angels with a detective instinct were given missions to do on earth that had to do with mystery.God did know everything but sometimes sin had to make him look away. Smart angels were sent to earth to uncover things or retrieve things, anything that was under the command of God, they also fixed things. Most angels became guardian angels for people, good or bad, but when th
Lexa’s POVIn the entire world, he was the last person I was expecting to see. So many questions ran through my mind and I was wondering what he was doing here. It scared me to my spines that he was staring right at me.I looked away for just a second and looked back, to find him few steps closer to me. He was walking to me. I freaked out.He was the one that tried to return me to heaven but... he was also the one that freed me and let me go to Elliot. I didn’t believe that he was truly a bad person. He let me go, against his King's commands and to say, that meant a lot to me.During all my thoughts, he eventually reached me. My friends had noticed I was no more by their sides and turned to me, only to find me with a guy. As typical friends, they stayed back and watched what would happen. He smiled. “Hi…” He looked short of words and I was as well but not as much as him.“Liam, what are you doing in Paris? Here?” I didn’t mean to sound surprised but I was.“I’m here on…” He bit his to
Elliot's POV'Dragon Tamers, that's a terrible game.'I hadn't said anything to Lot since the incident and I wasn't planning to do so anytime soon.I cursed Satan. Why would he pick Dragon Tamers?! It had been a long time since demons played Dragon Tamers. The game was deadly and bloody. I wished it was any other game picked.I knew the history of the game and the important details but still I was in the library, making more research on the book named 'Dragon Tamers'.The simple history of the Dragon Tamers. It was a game that was played by the early demons. These demons were the most vicious and terror setting creatures. The demons in this time were nothing compared to the early demons. The demons of nowadays just partied but when the early demons were released from the Pandora's Box and joined Lucifer, the world was a horrific place to be in.The Dragon Tamers was a game made by the demon kings in which the other demons played it as a form of entertainment to the King. Later, it bec
Lexa's POVWe had been served our dishes. I was thankful I chose what I chose because when I saw my food, my lost appetite returned.Drinks were served with our food and we started to dig into it."It's been a while , Lexa," she said, eating to her heart's desire.I smirked. "Just a few months... But you changed so much."She smiled. "That's what money can do."She fluttered her eyelashes and moved her food slightly away then gave me a sneaky smile. To say the truth, I was confused at the sudden change in her position. Her movements didn't give me an idea of what she wanted to do until she talked."How are you and Elliot?" Wendy's smile grew wider and my smile grew lower. Even though she talked more now, she was still observant as she always had been. She noticed my dull face. "What's wrong? Did-did something happen?" It was hard to stop the tears from coming out so I used my cold palms to cover my hot teary eyes. I took a deep breath and cleared them. "You had a fight? Is everything
Elliot's POVI was not patient but I could wait till the next day before visiting my kingdom. It had been a long time since I had seen it, but I remember it vividly. It was recently that I realised how much freedom I had given Andras on my throne.I chose him because I trusted him, but even the best demons can't be relied on. I felt like a fool. My love for Lexa had taken over me. I couldn't concentrate on my kingly duties. But I didn't regret falling for her. I would have my way and I would have both Alexa and my crown.I was picking out clothes when a knock announced itself on the door. I didn't want to answer it but it was the scent of the senior maid so I had to."Enter!" She hesitated but entered my room. She came empty handed and not in her uniform, so it gave me the idea that she wasn't here to serve me gin or give me updates on the masnion. "Not now, Nora. You can leave."She didn't. She stood right there in her position, watching me from the distance.I ignored her and picked
Lexa's POVIt was hard to sleep at night when he was not by my side. I felt vulnerable when his hands didn't trap my waists like he loved to do. I couldn't feel his cold pale skin on mine and I was feeling immense heat where I was silently sitting.Though we were high in the sky, which meant the environment should be cooler as science had proved but I felt so hot inside. I wanted to pull my clothes off my miserable body.I looked around me and realized that I was the only one feeling that way. That's when I realized that the heat was coming from inside me. On the speakers, a female voice nnounced something that I really wasn't listening to.'Ladies and gentlemen, Bandasun Airlines welcomes you to Paris. The local time is 3:pm. For your safety and the safety of those around you, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened and keep the aisle clear until we are parked at the gate. Thank you.'Why wasn't I excited to be here? I always wanted to visit Paris. Everyone did.Someone pla
Rica's POVI spinned the revolving chair I was sitting on. It twirled me 360 degree round a single spot with a big unending smile on my face as it continued to twirl me. Then I immediately stopped it.I looked towards a mirror and I could see my face...ageing. My end was near. Any normal witch would worry about it and begin to search for longer days but not me. I didn't care. I didn't care if I died today because my mission was complete.Almost complete. I had a last thing to do before I could tag my mission as 'completed'. I stood up from the chair and looked around me. I was in a destroyed uncompleted building that was located in the outskirts of Olia.Everywhere was dark but my crystal ball gave out bright blue light that brightened everywhere. The doors of the building were old and rotten, and they dangled from their hinges like they were only attached to it by a bare string. The floors of the building were covered with rusted nails and bolts, dead leaves, infested planks of wood
