ch8 Separation

-Tom's pov:-

Honestly I was so tired. But I just couldn't seem to get myself to sleep.

I heard Walter rolling over and over so I guess he must be having the same issues as I'm having right now.

I layed at the door side of the tent so I could quickly get out which was nice.

I finally found a comfy position. I felt it, I could fall asleep like this.

Until I heard footsteps. Who the fuck would be out so late?

Wait, maybe James and Warren finally came back?

No, no that can't be them. They've came back before.

Who?

It kept me paranoid. I sat up in my bed and tried to peek through the holes of the unopened windows.

It sure looked like somebody was standing infront of the tent of the others but on the other hand it didn't.

No, no it can't be. Did it just move?

I heard a horribly loud bang. Louder than loud. Impossible to not hear.

That was the final drip for me. I looked around seeing everyone sitting right up. Apparently the bang had awoken everyone.

I heard yelling and crying come from the other tent.

No, no, no, no!

This was it's final.

I put on my shoes and unzipped the tent. I walked outside and saw the figure holding a gun and a big piece of glass.

It was at that moment I had put the pieces together in my head.

He- he...

I struggled so much to say it.

He shot somebody in that tent.

It all happened in such a flash I didn't know what to do. I told everyone in the tent to put on their shoes and run before I clenched my fist and took the biggest risk of my life.

-Adrien's pov:-

James had finally arrived back and it felt so, so relieving.

I wouldn't have fallen asleep until the moment he would've arrived, I couldn't get that over my heart. I didn't even change, and to be honest

I didn't care. It was comfortable.

I sat up in my bed to look around in the tent.

It seemed like everyone was asleep which is a good thing.

Footsteps.

I heard footsteps, it startled me. Who'd be out so late?

I kept bugging me so a little while later I put my shoes on attempting to go outside.

I saw Millie tying her shoelaces as well.

"What are you doing?" I whispered.

"If you think I'm going to let you wander outside alone you're wrong."

Man what did I do to deserve these friends?

I stood up. Right when that happened a gunshot was heard very, very close.

It scared me to death.

"What the fuck was that?" Yelled Millie.

I heard the zipper of the other tent open.

They must've heard it too, I mean you couldn't have not heard it.

Lola, Jasper and Warren had been awoken by the sound of the gun too.

It was only James who didn't get up.

"Everyone put on your shoes." I commanded.

I kneeled down next to James.

"Hey buddy wake up. There's someone here you need to get up!" There was still zero reaction to be seen. "James?!" I yelled. "James get up!"

It was that moment I had noticed the hole in his shirt stained with blood around it.

I immediately lowered the collar of the shirt to reveal he had been shot in his right shoulder.

"James, no. Y- you promised."

I heard a fistfight outside of my tent but I literally couldn't care less.

"Get out, run!" I heard Tom shout horribly loudly.

"James, I can't lose you. My whole life was dedicated to you. How am I supposed to go through this without you?"

"Adrien come we need to get out!" Yelled Lola at me.

"James please, get up. I know you're here. Please. Please tell me you're joking."

"Adrien come!" Shouted Millie.

There were uncountable many tears that fell next to James's body but I wasn't planning on leaving.

My whole life was dedicated to them so tell me, what will my life be without him?

I'm just a child, how could you do this to me?!

"We don't have time we have to leave him!" I heard Millie command behind me.

"Not him too!" Yelled Warren at him.

It was then that Warren grabbed my left arm and pulled on it hard.

"Please Adrien come, I don't wanna lose you. Please." He begged.

I gestured a look at James's body.

"He's gone Adrien. I get it, you wanna stay. But realize how proud he'll be if you manage to get over it. Please Adrien. He would be so, so proud."

I freed myself from Warren's grip and stood back up.

I wiped my tears away.

"It was nice while it lasted, I'm genuinely sorry we didn't get more time than we deserved. You know I'll always make sure to stay on the right path for you. You were all I needed, and I'll make sure you'll be staying with me forever."

-Tom's pov:-

I clenched my fist and took the biggest risk of my life.

I ran towards the figure and punched them across the face.

I didn't know how much damage I'd do though seeing he had a black mask covering his face.

His skin tone, nothing to be seen of. His clothing was covering it all.

Apparently he had seen my action as a challenge.

He dropped his dagger and gun and cracked his knuckles.

I felt so much adrenaline go through my entire body but I wasn't planning on giving up, this fight was on.

Although when he charged at me I started to panic, this was the dumbest idea I've ever had. But at least i gave my friends a chance to run, at least that's what I thought.

The figure punched me in the stomach followed by a punch across the face.

He was so much stronger than he looked.

"Toml!" I heard Silas yell.

He came out of our tent and threw me to the ground.

He punched the figure across the face followed by a good kick.

Silas picked me off of the ground and told me to run off with the group.

I knew if I'd stay I'd lose the fight so hard so I had no choice.

Silas ran off through the tent to the others and I tried to follow but I felt a warm hand wrap around my wrist.

I turned to see the man holding his dagger.

Before I could do anything I felt the dagger going right through my stomach.

I gasped for air as he let go of the dagger.

The man ran off into darkness and he left me to suffer.

It hurts so bad.

I couldn't get my breathing under control. Every single breath I took started to hurt more and more.

I heard Silas coming back.

"Tom? Tom where are you?"

"Here." I answered with puffy breath.

He noticed my breath being uncontrolled.

"Tom, Tom are you okay? Where did that guy go?"

"I- I'm fine. Thank you. The man ran-" I needed to take a break to gather some breath. "Ran off. Come, we gotta go. He could come back any moment." I finished.

"You're right. Come." He said before disappearing back into the tent again.

Damn, I was horribly lucky he didn't pull out his dagger, it sure saved me a lot of blood.

I didn't wanna bother the rest with my wounds because it would only slow down the whole group because of one person.

So I'll stay silent, Silent till the day I'll die.
