Chapter 65: Just a Little Bit

Ivan's movements become slow and deliberate, as if the weight of his sadness has settled on his bones and gloom has settled on his shoulders like a black shroud, making even the simplest tasks laborious.

He washes the dishes like a machine that has been programmed to do a particular task. His face is rigid and devoid of any emotions, but he is the only one who knows what he is feeling inwardly.

He has learned to mask his feelings after all these years, and he is doing the same thing now. He is washing the dishes, but his mind is not there.

"Ivan, bring the wine and pack these plates away," Mrs. Anderson shouts.

It takes a while for Ivan to process what the woman said, and when he finally does, he drops the plates and walks over to where the glass cups are.

After rinsing them, he makes his way towards the dining table with the cups on a tray. He walks slowly, and when he reaches the dining table, he notices that they have already finished eating.
