Aiden shot Charlie a look of warning then raised his hands in defeat. “I give up,” he shouted. “I'm done with you and your shit, Charlie.”

“Are you for real? Seriously?” She asked.

“Of course I’m for real!” Aiden shouted. He scraped the dining chair across the tiles as he stood. “I can’t fucking cope anymore. One minute you’re all loved up and the next, you’re accusing me of fucking the bitch across the road! What the fuck goes on in your head, Charlie?”

"Look at you, acting like the innocent party in all of this. I know what I saw. How long? How fucking long?”

“You saw nothing because there was nothing to see. It’s all up here.” Aiden tapped his temple as he spun on his heel. “I'm going out.”

Charlie paced the floor as she stared at the phone in her hand. Her stomach felt like a knotted rag being whirled around on a spin cycle as she willed the phone to ring. She had thought her world had crashed around her the moment Aiden had told her who he was, but that had only been a tremor in the quake that had brought her running out of her house faster than should have been possible, and racing to the dingy bed and breakfast, where she had rented a room for the night. After fainting in the shop, Aiden had spent hours trying to convince her that he wanted to protect her, rather than kill her. Dropping onto the single bed in the corner of the room, Charlie thought about that conversation. “Yes,” Aiden said, “He sent me. I tried to call it off but it doesn’t work like that. He will send others if I don’t complete the

  • Metamob   Chapter Eleven

“Are you sure she won’t mind?” Aiden had said he was taking her somewhere nobody would be able to find her - to his mothers. Charlie had been worrying for the entire journey. Hanging out with a stranger was one thing but temporarily living with one, was another thing entirely. What if she was a deadly mafia assassin, too? “She won’t mind. I can guarantee it,” Aiden said, knocking on the door to a house. “Aiden! What have I said about knocking? Come in. Come in,” Sarah beamed. “Thank you,” Charlie said as she followed Aiden inside. “It’s about time he found himself a beautiful woman,” Sarah whispered as she closed the

  • Metamob   Chapter Twelve

Sarah shook like an autumn leaf as she stood at the edge of the portal at Stonehenge. She could feel the power emanating from the invisible shift in the air and knew that all she had to do was place her hand inside and she would be pulled home. She hadn't been inside Fairie since her father had ordered her permanent banishment but Aiden was relying on her to at least try. Shaking off the nerves, Sarah inhaled and stepped into the gap between two of the upright stones. Her breath instantly caught as her feet touched the soft grass of Faerie. She had spent far too many years looking at the green hills and valleys of Salisbury that she had almost forgotten how beautiful Faerie was. Scores of pink and orange hues filled the cloudless sky. Seemingly endless fruit trees that stood in fields of greens and yellows, twinkled with lights from the fairy homes within their branches. She could see

“This is a surprise. I would offer you a drink, but as you know, I only drink with friends and business associates.” If Aiden was any other person, Rafael's cold shoulder would have had him shaking from head to foot. He had built his reputation on being brutal with his enemies and making examples of those who wronged him. “Raf, you know…” “Don Hernandez,” Rafael cut him off. “That’s my name to you. Remember it.” Aiden suppressed the eye roll. He could see Rafael was already pissed and antagonising the situation wouldn’t help. “As you wish, Don Hernandez. You know that if I could have completed the contract, I would have done but she’s your daughter.” “You suddenly seem

“Come on, Aiden. We’ve been cooped up for weeks. What’s the worst that can happen?” Charlie said. “It’s only a few drinks in the pub. Go out and enjoy yourselves,” Sarah said. Charlie looked at Aiden eagerly then thigh fived Sarah when he nodded. He wasn’t much of a drinker or one for socialising but things had been oddly quiet and almost normal for the last few weeks since he had left Rafael's villa. “I’ll go get ready, then,” Charlie said, practically bouncing out of the living room door. Aiden waited to hear her footsteps upstairs then asked, “Did you visit the circle?” “I did,” Sarah sighed. “It was what I expected it to be. The King refused to lift the binding. I’m still powerless to help protect h

“Shush! Sarah will hear and think we’re up to something good but I don’t mind if you throw me on that bed.” Aiden tried to ignore the way Charlie bit her lip, the same way he had tried to ignore her flirtatious teasing as he carried her back to Sarah’s. “She isn’t home,” he said, kicking the bedroom door closed. “Ha, ha! Perfect. In that case, we can be as noisy as you like.” A shudder ran down his spine as Charlie ran her fingers through his hair and gently tugged his face towards hers. “I know you want this, Aiden.” She reached up with her other hand, gripping his chin forcefully. “Charlie, I…” A burst of electricity ran through his body at the touch of h

“Good morning,” Sarah said as Charlie walked into the kitchen. “Coffee is in the pot.” “Thank you. I didn’t wake you when I got in last night, did I?” Aiden had said Sarah wasn’t home but after the amount of noise Aiden had made her make, she wanted to make sure. “Oh, no. I wasn’t home and you were flat out by the time I strolled in. End up a little wide for wear, did you?” Charlie smirked and took a sip of her coffee. “Is everything okay? With you being out so late, I mean,” Charlie asked. Sarah grabbed the freshly popped toast and smiled as she held out a slice for Charlie to take. “Everything is fine, don’t worry, honey. I just had some Faery things to do, that’s all. It kept me out a little late but then, it usually does. How was your night?”

“I’m going to take a shower. You’re welcome to join me,” Aiden said, placing a kiss on Charlie’s forehead. “Hmm, that sounds wonderful but I promised Sarah I would go shopping with her and then help her bake.” “Shoved over for cookie dough, huh?” Charlie laughed and prodded her belly, “Of course! This hot body of mine needs a lot of care and attention, you know.” “Hmm, it is a very, very hot body. I have to agree,” Aiden said as he leaned forward and kissed her naked belly button. “Behave. You’ve already had enough this morning and last night, too, for that matter,” Charlie said, kissing his lips as she dived out of bed. “Are you not going to answer that?” Latest Chapter

      Epilogue Part Two

Swatting sprite filled flowers away from his face, Edmeed ran as fast as his old bones would carry him. The king would be furious with him but there was no other choice. He had to find Sarah and her mate and convince them to help. It was the only way to protect his beloved Faerie from the Black Seel. Edmeed sucked in a breath as he reached the portal that would take him to Salisbury. He didn’t even bother to Feel for humans as he charged through, hitting the rough grass at a run and almost toppling over. He was getting too old for midnight missions to the human plane and too breathless, too. He picked his robes up and held them against his waist as he ran down from the Power Stones, mentally swearing at himself for not changing to human attire before leaving the castle. There hadn’t been time for changing, but he regretted not making the time as his spindly naked legs s

      Epilogue Part One

Jarrah forced his feet to move faster as he walked through the Elven forest. He would have run if he could have done, but he needed to look somewhat natural as he made his way to the portal. It was bad enough that he was the one having to report back to Edmeed. The last thing he wanted to do was to attract unnecessary attention, especially with what was going on. “Jarrah! It’s been absolutely ages since you visited us.” His heart hit the roof of his mouth as his feet froze mid-step at the sound of Adilyn’s voice. Of all the people that could be lurking in the forest, it had to be her. “Hey, yeah, I was just on my way to see you,” he lied, turning to face the nymph. Her beauty knocked him for six, as it alway

Charlie watched Aiden with a heart filled with joy as he walked between groups of Red Dawn members, meeting and greeting them with a huge smile on his face. She knew it was probably a front but nobody but her and Sarah would be able to tell."He's come a long way these last few weeks, hasn't he?"Charlie looked at Sarah, her eyes entering with tears of joy. "He has. I knew he was special when I first met him but the things he's told me and what he's grown into in such a short time has blown my mind. He was so hard-hearted and now all I see is a wounded man who would love unconditionally if he found the right person.""He will, one day. Just be patient with him, honey.""Have you dec

Wincing, he sat down and looked at the faces around him."Aiden, seriously. You have a big decision to make. Chapter Forty-two

Aiden watched in confusion as Simon tilted his head back and howled to the sky. He had never heard such a long and purposeful howl before and within a few seconds, others began to join in, too. The noise sent chills through him, making his hackles stand on end, but not through fear. He had this strange feeling of acceptance inside of him, threatening to make him swell with pride. He had never felt like that before and as Simon trailed the howl to a close, Aiden felt a touch of loss, as though he had just lost something that he needed in his life.Simon began to walk forward and Aiden saw that he had been guarding Ben, who was lying on the floor in his human form. Pain was riddled across his face as he lay there watching him, standing over his gruesome winnings. As Simon approached, he lowered his head to the floor, then followed with his front legs, then his belly

      Chapter Forty-one

Aiden sniffed the air as he ran. He had been trying to find a familiar scent since leaving Charlie and Sarah but all he could smell were other wolves that he didn’t recognise. How the hell am I supposed to find him, if I can’t smell him? He wondered as he dodged trees and ferns. A crash suddenly sounded from his left and as he changed his direction, he caught the faint scent of humans. Picking up speed as he ran, it wasn’t long before he saw the village beginning to break through the tree line.Alpha, his wolf said as he ran towards the village wall.I’m not looking for their bloody Alpha. I’m looking for Ben, Aiden told the wolf, but sure enough, as he closed the gap between him and the wall, he saw a wolf leap into the air, then get knocked to the ground by another wol

I was just lying there waiting for it to be over and then you. I’m so sorry I called you a monster. I’m so sorry.”“Shush. That doesn’t matter. What matters is that you’re okay. You are okay, aren’t you?” He asked. He knew it was a stupid question, after all, she had been through but it just seemed like the right thing to ask.“Nothing that won’t heal in time. Chapter Thirty-nine

Charlie’s heart hit her mouth at the same time as her body stiffened and sent her stomach plummeting to the dirt below her feet. She had been panicking when Sarah had pulled her to a standstill but the sea of calm in her eyes as she spoke, had eased Charlie’s fears and made her think everything was going to be okay. But, it wasn’t. She knew that as soon as her worst nightmare had stepped out from the tree.“That was a wonderful thing for you to have done. Your words were truly magical and extremely convincing,” Rafael said.“Run,” Charlie whispered. “Run and don’t look back, no matter what.”“You know, Maria.
