Chapter five

"Isn't that a study of demons, I mean house demons?". Mike said to the surprise of other students.

"What does that mean?, that I had to interview demons or something?". Said one of the students.

"No, impossible. I am not embarking on any silly project for the sake of the good life. No I can't take that risk". Said Fred to the hearing of Mike as if he obviously knew what might be going on in his mind.

"Listen everyone, this project is compulsory for all the students of the mysticism field or else you call it a quit. Remember it has a great reward for winners". The teacher said and continued.

"The project will commence starting from tomorrow. You are all required to travel to any place you want in search of answers. Make sure to travel with your writing materials in order to be able to provide an accurate data on your experience. And also the first and second runner up wouldn't go empty handed. Your time starts tomorrow and ends in a week time. Seven days precisely". The teacher said.

"Any question?". She asked the entire class who had confusion written all over their faces.

"No question". Said one of the student as she needed some time to think.

"Alright, then since you don't have any question. We will call it a day. Remember its worth it". She finally said and left the classroom.

The whole class was thrown into an uproar as they began to protest within themselves.

"Hell no, there is no way I am embarking in that dangerous task". Said one of the students to her friend.

"How can they be so insensitive. Anyways don't bother yourself too much about it" responded the friend.

"What do you mean". Asked Ella to Jane.

"You know I always had my ways. We will just go to one of the few known places, I am sure we will surely find some answers there. Not from ghost but from humans". Jane said with full confidence.

Not long the whole class concurred to their plan and immediately felt relaxed.

"What are you thinking, why are you so quiet?". Asked Fred to Mike who was sat quietly on his seat ignoring the plans made by the class to outsmart the teacher and the project content.

"No, I was just thinking". Mike said as he brightened uonhis face a bit with a smile.

"What are you thinking?". Fred asked as he fixed his gaze on him.

"I think that this is the perfect opportunity to get the lives that we had always wanted since childhood". Mike said.

"And…". Fred asked.

"And we shouldn't let it slip off our palm". Mike said.

"What do you mean?". Fred asked again.

"There is this old and abandoned house that I know, rumors had jy that it was haunted but no one has ever gone to confirm it be cause of fear of the unknown. I think we can find the answers the project required from there". Mike said with a clear tone.

"Wait, excuse me?". Fred asked in disbelief.

"I know it sounds ridiculous but I feel that this might be our last opportunity to make it". Mike said again.

"Sorry but I am not interested". Fred turned down the offer instantly.

"Alright then, I will go alone bit don't say that I didn't give you hints on time". Mike said looking extremely confident.

Deep down, Fred knows that he is right but he finds it hard to pick up the courage to embark on such risky journey.

As soon their lecture for the day was over. The students went back home. Mike got back home and began to arrange his stiff for his trip tomorrow and so with the other students.

Fred sat and began to think about what Mike had told him earlier.

He looked around him and saw how impoverished he was.

"I really need that good life. Its better I also take the risk since the entire class wasn't interested, we had higher chances if making it". He said to himself.

After thinking for a while. He headed to his room immediately and also began to pack his stuff to join his friend Mike.

As soon as Mike got all his stuff ready, he couldn't wait for tomorrow morning. Be had always been fascinated by the unknown and so he finds it enthralling to embark on such mysterious journey.

The next day, he got up early and was surprised to see Fred at his place with all his stuffs ready.

"You are…". Mike said.

"Yes, I am coming with you". I also needed the good life, you know?". Fred said INA witty manner.

Mike  chuckled.

"Alright then, be my guest". Mike teased and they both smiled.

They proceeded on the journey together with their dog.

On their way, they met some of their classmates taking a familiar route.

"Common is like you want to die". Said one of their classmate to them after seeing the route they took on.

They couldn't care less but were determined to carry out the project perfectly. They had their dog with them in case of emergency.

It was such a long journey and before they arrived it was almost getting dark. The house was located in a deep forest, it was covered with cobwebs and many insects.

Fred became frightened instantly as soon as he sighted the house. It was very scary, mere looking at it, it looked like a haven for ghosts and demons.

They got to the entrance and shoved the door aside.

"Are you sure we can do this". Fred asked with an almost trembling voice as if he had started to regret his actions.

Mike was sacred too but he tried hard not to let it show.

"Come on don't be scared we can do it". Mike assured him.

As soon as they opened the door and stepped inside the house, a strong wind from the house immediately came and closed the door with full speed while leaving them in an unforthomable darkness.

"Help!!!". Mike and Fred shouted on top of their voices inside the house bit unfortunately for them no one was around as it was a cursed land.
