Chapter seven

The door had been shut by the strange wind that followed them right after they made their way into the building. Mike also tried to open it but to no avail. That was when they knew they were in for more trouble.

"Why isn't the door opening?". Fred said with an almost shaky voice as be tried everything within his muscles to open the door.

"I think the door must have been locked from outside, following that strange wind that shoved it hard right after we came in". Mike said to the surprise of his friend Fred.

"What!". He said as he was taken aback at the wind incident.

"You think so, then what are we going to do now because we need to get out of this godforsaken dungeon!". Fred said with fear written all over his face.

"Wait just calm down". Mike said as he tried to calm down his friend who is already worked up.

"I am telling you there is ghost down there and you are telling me to calm down. I think this is going to be the last place we will ever see". Fred said to his friend Mike who seemed more composed.

Mike stood beside him as he watched his friend struggle with the door.

"Aren't you going to help me so we can try one more time before we die". Fred said, looking at his friend who seemed less concerned.

"I have tried already, it not going to open, it has been shut from outside and the only way for it to open is unless someone opens it from outside. So, stop trying yiuate just wasting your time over it". Mike said to his friend.

"Like seriously, so you prefer we just die than trying all out best to see if we can open it?". Fred asked again amidst confusion.

"Go ahead and try, it won't open. Its all useless. The only way for us to get out of here now is to find another door a d you know that also wouldn't be easy, since its already dark and you are afarid". Mike said.

"Alright then, so what are we going to do". Fred said as he left the door and focused his attention on Mike.

"First, we will need to go to the place where you had seen the ghost to confirm only then we will be able to be calm and find another means of escape". Mike said with full confident.

"I hate this life!!, had I known it would be like this I wouldn't have followed you here". Fred lamented. He had no other choice than to agree to his friends suggestion since he looked more bold and confident.

After thinking for a while with sweat all over him.

"Alright then, but you will lead the way and then I will follow". Fred said.

"I told you to be more confident only then can we be able to accomplish our mission or else…, you don't want to die soon do you?". Mike said.

"I know but this isn't funny". Fred said as he began to calm down from his fears.

Mike gave him a calm look for a while and then proceeded to see the unknown.

He picked up his lantern from the ground beside him and began to walk gently towards the area where Fred had ran out from. Fred followed gently behind like a puppy.

It was a few steps away from the entrance door. But it took them almost some minutes to get to the area due to fear. As soon as they got to the  place, Mike was surprised at what he saw.

"Isn't that a door?". Mike asked his friend as he he wanted to confirm if it was actually a door.

"That's strange, when I was here a while ago, I didn't see a door. I guess maybe because it was dark all over". Fred responded looking equally surprised to see the door. The door looked neat unlike the other areas of the house that were covered with dust and cobweb. It looked strange but still they needed to know what was inside the door as that would help them greatly in being at ease.

"What are you doing?". Asked Fred in bewilderment.

"We need to check what's inside". Mike said. He grabbed the door by its handle and shoved it aside gently.

They were greatly amazed at what they saw. A two, huge candle that's almost the size of a human being was burning, illuminating the whole room. Mere looking at it they could tell that it had been burning for a long time. It was definitely left by the last people that came to the forsaken building.

"Oh my God". Fred said almost in a whisper amidst wonder.

"What exactly is going in here?" He asked as his eyes wandered across the entire room. The room was different from the rest of the building. It looked well kept as if it had frequent visitors. But nothing there hints at that except the huge and mysterious candle that was burning there.

"It isn't melting". Mike said as he felt the tip of the candle with his hands.

"That's strange". He said again as he moved away from the candle to the wall. The wall was plain but was designed with words. Some were written on small alphabet while some where written with big alphabet, making it strange.

He tried to read the letters but he couldn't since it was written in a strange language.

He studied mysticism and some of it words but still he couldn't fathom either of the words but he knew they were diabolic.

"Look at this" Fred said to his friend. Mike turned around to where he was and saw him holding an old bangle, popular in the medieval era.

"I think this is a sacred room". Mike said to his friend.

"Be careful with the stuffs here, since we aren't familiar with them". Mike warned.

"Of course, I am always careful". Fred responded and continued with what he was doing.

"I think, this is a good place for us to relax a bit from our journey. It seems like a sacred room used in performing rituals during the medieval era. I think its a little bit safe". Mike said pointing at the candle that illuminated the room.

"Wait, I thought we agreed in looking for an escape to get out of here. I don't want to relax, I just want to leave this place as soon as possible". Fred said objecting to his friends idea.

"I know you want to leave but come on, I am already exhausted. ThankGod I found this room, if not I would have collapsed by now." Mike said ignoring his friend as he sat down on the pavement inside the room.

"Who knows if you didn't put up an act earlier that you saw a ghost so that you can terminate our mission?". Mike said as he heaved a sigh of relieve as he sat down comfortably on the pavement.

"Seriously, you think I was lying when I said that I saw a ghost?". Fred asked in disbelief.

"Anyways, its all my fault, I shouldn't have followed you here". Fred said as made himself comfortable on the pavement beside him.

"Wait, are you seeing that?". Fred asked.

" What is it again". Mike asked looking tired and exhausted.

"This room has no airspace". Fred said as he kept observing the room.

"I think we shouldn't be here". Fred said again with a weird tone as if some strange being spoke through him with a different voice.

Mike raised up his face immediately and looked at his friend to confirm what he just heard.

"What?". Mike asked waiting for his reply again.

"I think we wouldn't be here for long, we will have to look for a means of escape as soon as possible. Something isn't alright here". Fred said to the awe of Mike.

"Why did you say that?". Miked asked.

"I don't know but I can feel it". Fred said as his eyes wandered across the strange room.

"Come on, stop talking lime that, you know I don't like it when you start acting weird. The whole place is dark and haunted. So, it will be nice if we just stay here and wait till the day breaks. Then we can be able to figure things out". Mike said leaving his friend Fred with no other option.

They kept their bags beside them, their dog was already weak and tired. The dog went to one corner of the room and sat quietly, ready to sleep.

Mike removed his shoes and made himself comfortable on the pavement. He laid down on it and was ready to sleep.

Fred after looking around the entire room, he found the words written on the wall. He began to read it gently starting from the first letter.

As soon as he was done with the first letter and was ready to move on to the second letter, the dog stood up immediately and  began to bark at him.

He stopped reading the letters immediately due to shock from the sudden bark.

"Hey, keep quiet, it night already". Fred said to the dog.

"Go to sleep both of you, I nned to rest". Mike said to them with a tired voice.

The dog immediately stopped barking as soon as Fred halted with the pronunciation of the strange letters written on the words.

But he didn't get it. Be wanted to read them again but his attention shifted to the strange noise he heard inside the room.

It seemed as if something was crawling out.

Before he knew what was happening it was all over his body.

"Help!!!". He shouted and Mike woke up immediately. He almost fainted at what he saw. A lot of spiders were crawling all over Fred as be struggled to get them off him.
