Chapter 25

Time passed quickly, and Gibson felt his body was much better. The incision on his chest had partially healed.

Gibson blinked at the wall clock, realizing it was almost ten in the morning, which meant he had slept soundly.

Glancing at the sofa, Gibson saw Calista still fast asleep. He tried to recall the events of last night.

Approaching Calista, who was still peacefully asleep in a sitting position, Gibson wondered to himself, "Did she stay awake all night watching over me?" He remembered how diligently she had tended to his wounds.

Carefully lifting the thick blanket, Gibson moved Calista to the bed and covered her partially.

"Thank you for looking after me," Gibson whispered, gently stroking Calista's hair. He had wrongly assumed she was just a girl looking to exploit him for a large sum of money.

As Gibson turned to leave, Calista's hand unexpectedly stopped him.

"Don't go, I'm scared," she murmured.
