Chapter 42

Fingers appeared, tracing the contours of Gibson's six-pack abdomen, startling him. He felt the warmth of Calista's petite body hugging him from behind. The scent of soap and perfume clued Gibson in on the identity of the person embracing him.

"What are you doing?" Gibson asked, attempting to free himself from Calista's embrace.

"Let go of my stomach," Gibson said again as Calista tightened her grip on him.

"Just be still for a moment like this," Calista said in a soft voice, but Gibson didn't comply and continued to try to release Calista's hold.

"Can't you stay still for a minute? I'm sure your mind isn't in a good place right now," Calista said, bringing Gibson to a halt.

Gibson stopped resisting, releasing Calista's hand and letting it hang in the air, waiting for what Calista would say next.

"Tonight is too cold, isn't it? Why are you outside alone like this? Are you... thinking about something?" Calista asked, curiosity filling her voice.
