The Wilson family living room was buzzing with excitement as Amelia strutted in, her phone pressed to her ear. She wore a confident smirk as she dialed Thomas Miller, her tone syrupy sweet.

“Mr. Miller,” she began, her voice loud enough for everyone to hear. “I just wanted to thank you for reconsidering the Millenium Mall project. My boyfriend, as you know, has significant sway at Sterling Real Estate. It’s only natural that we found a way to work together.”

On the other end of the line, Thomas’s deep voice rumbled, though it lacked the enthusiasm Amelia assumed was there. “Yes, the Millenium Mall project will be transferred to the Wilson family. The papers are being prepared.”

Amelia’s smile widened as she hung up. Turning to her parents, she placed her hands on her hips and beamed. “See? I told you my boyfriend’s connections would come through.”

Mary clasped her hands together, her face glowing with pride. “I knew it! Amelia, you’ve saved this family.”

William nodded, his stern demeanor softening for the first time in weeks. “It’s about time someone in this family stepped up. Sterling Real Estate is a powerful ally.”

Amelia basked in the praise, turning her attention to Olivia, who sat quietly on the sofa. “Unlike some people, I actually contribute around here,” Amelia said smugly, throwing a pointed glance at her sister.

Mary didn’t miss the jab, quickly piling on. “Olivia, maybe if your husband wasn’t so useless, we wouldn’t have been in this position to begin with.”

John, standing at the top of the staircase, overheard the entire conversation. A smirk tugged at his lips. They think Amelia secured the deal? Let them believe it for now. She won’t be able to finalize anything.

Later that evening, Olivia found John sitting in their bedroom, leaning against the window with a calm, almost amused expression. Her frustration boiled over as she stormed in and crossed her arms.

“Was it true?” she demanded. “Did Amelia secure the deal with Thomas Miller?”

John raised an eyebrow. “No, she didn’t. She thinks she did, but the truth is, only you can sign that contract.”

Olivia frowned, her disbelief evident. “You’re saying Thomas Miller would ignore Amelia’s boyfriend’s influence and hand the project to me instead? Do you even hear how ridiculous that sounds?”

“I made the arrangement myself,” John said firmly, meeting her gaze. “Thomas Miller agreed that the contract would only be signed by you.”

“How?” Olivia asked, her skepticism growing. “What could you possibly have done to make that happen?”

John paused, knowing he couldn’t reveal the full truth about his Dragon Way Bloodline or the Celestial Doctor’s Inheritance. “Let’s just say I have my ways.”

Olivia shook her head, throwing her hands in the air. “I don’t have time for your riddles, John. If you’re lying about this, it’s going to backfire on all of us.”

“I’m not lying,” John said, his tone calm but resolute. “You’ll see soon enough.”

Frustrated, Olivia turned toward the bathroom. “You’d better be telling the truth,” she muttered before slamming the door behind her.

The sound of water running filled the room as John sat back, his thoughts racing. She doesn’t believe me, but she will. I just need to be patient.

When Olivia emerged from the bathroom, her hair damp and wrapped in a towel, John looked up from his chair. Her expression was tense, the day’s frustrations still etched on her face.

“Let me dry your hair,” John offered, standing up.

Olivia raised an eyebrow. “What? Why?”

“Because you’ve had a rough day,” he said simply. “And because I want to.”

She hesitated, clearly torn between her lingering frustration and the rare gentleness in his tone. Finally, she relented, sitting on the edge of the bed. John grabbed a towel and began gently patting her hair dry, his movements slow and deliberate.

“You don’t have to do this,” Olivia murmured, her voice softening.

“I want to,” John replied. “You carry too much stress, Olivia. Let me help.”

When he finished with her hair, he set the towel aside and knelt in front of her. “Your stomach has been bothering you, hasn’t it?”

Olivia blinked, caught off guard. “How do you—?”

“Just a feeling,” John said with a small smile. “Lie back. I’ll massage it.”

She stared at him, her suspicion warring with intrigue. “Why are you being so… considerate?”

“Because I want to ease your pain,” John said, his voice sincere. “Let me.”

After a moment of hesitation, Olivia leaned back against the pillows, her body stiff. John placed his hands gently on her abdomen, using the healing techniques from the Celestial Doctor’s Inheritance. His touch was warm, soothing the tension in her muscles.

To her surprise, the discomfort that had been plaguing her all day began to fade. Her shoulders relaxed, and she let out a small sigh.

“That… feels nice,” she admitted reluctantly.

John chuckled softly. “Good. You deserve to feel at ease.”

For the first time that day, Olivia’s walls began to crack. Though her mind still raced with doubts and frustrations, her body betrayed her, leaning into the care he offered.

As John finished, he looked up at her, his expression gentle. “I told you I’d take care of you, Olivia. You just need to trust me.”

She didn’t respond, but her gaze lingered on him a moment longer than usual before she turned away. Maybe there’s more to him than I realized.
