Chapter 22

After she was done taking out the trash, she walked to her boss' office. For some reason, she felt like this man was really creepy. She did not like the way that he kept looking at her. She felt like he was a really dangerous person. But for the sake of her grandmother, she was ready to take the gamble. She was ready to take the gamble and ask him for it. Maybe, he will take pity on a young woman trying to save the life of her grandmother. She knocked on the door and when he gave her the go ahead to enter, she walked in and stood in front of him. "Good evening sir" Carrisa said.

Derrick looked up and saw the woman standing in front of him. He had to admit this woman is a rare beauty. She had such a beautiful face. The only thing that was stopping him from going after this woman right now was because he knew that he could get a lot from her if someone took an interest in her. His business, even though it seemed like a normal bar from the outside, was really involved in a lot of illegal things. He sold women to men who might be interested. She has been here for less than a day, he was sure that someone would be interested soon.

The woman really seemed naive. She had no idea what was going on here and so he would be able to sell her off without a single issue. She also looked like she was really poor, she did not seem like someone who had influence it anything like that. He could take advantage of her and sell her off without getting into trouble. He wondered what she had come here to him for. What she she want from him? "What do you want Carrisa? You promised me that you are going to work hard, is this how you work hard? Are you slacking off right now?" Derrick asked. He did not forget that she was a hired waiter, she can't neglect her duties at all!

Carrisa knew that she was going too far. She had only been working here for a couple of hours. How can she think that this person is going to give her the money for her grandmother's surgery? What is really going on in her head? She had begged and begged for the job and now she was trying to ask him for money for her mother's treatment, she really is losing her mind . But she still wanted to give it a try. At most she will get réjécted. Who knows? She might just get lucky.

Carrisa cleared her throat. She did not know how she should start this request. Will this person even listen to her? What is she thinking? After a moment of hesitation, she finally made up her mind. "Sir, I am really sorry that I have to do this to you when I just started working here but I am in a bit of situation and I. . . " Carrisa did not finish before she was interrupted.

Derrick already knew what she was going to ask. Most of the people working here were people with financial problems. They always wanted to borrow money from him. "I know what you are going to say you need me to lend you money. But I am not going to do that. Please leave" he said.

Just like that, she was rejected!.

Carrisa was heartbroken. She was not fully convinced that he was going to help her but she did not think that he was going to be so mean in his rejection. How can he say no without even thinking twice about it? She really needed the money for her mother's surgery. Carrisa thought that he was being this way because he did not know what she needs the money for. Once he finds out just how tough her situation is, he won't spare any efforts to help her! She was so desperate that she was ready to believe anything as long as it gave her a glimmer of hope in saving her grand mother. She was ready to believe anything at all, as long as she has a little bit of hope.

"I know that I am being too much right now. We barely know each other and you don't have to listen to my sorry and still I am doing this to you. I really am very sorry right now but please I really need someone to help me. My grand mother, she is really sick. She is the only family that I have left. Please sir, please hell me sir!" Carrisa pleaded.

Derrick shook his head. He did not want to listen to her sad sob story anymore. "Please leave my office Carrisa, there is no way that I can help you" Derrick said.

Jeline was at the filming set. She was so very annoyed. She tried to push back the annoyance that she was feeling. She had to figure out a way to get Damian to fall in love with her. She had to get married to him as soon as possible! The old man seemed to like her well enough, she was going to work on that and him to arrange the marriage as soon as possible. Once she gets married to Damian, she will get him to fall for her and then deal with her uncle and his entire family!

She was still thinking about these things when someone walked up to her. It was her assistant, Lena. Jeline looked up at her. "what is it?" She asked. She really hated it when someone interrupted her line of thoughts. She was already pissed of enough as it was already. Does this person have to come annoy her now? She really wanted to fire this Lena but she would be the third assistant that she was getting this year. Rumours were starting to spread about her attitude, it won't be good for her image so she had to put up with her.

Lena looked at Jeline's face and knew that she was not in a good mood. Coupled with the way that she had answered her, she knew that she probably should not be talking to her right now. But she really did not have a choice. They had to start filling now and the director asked her to go get Jeline. She was really scared of this woman. She did not understand why people kept calling her an angel. She was definitely far from that! How did she manage to fool the public into thinking that she is a good woman?

She really wanted to quit the job and just be done and over with it but she knew that she could not do that. The job really payed well and while the woman was annoying and mean, she knew that she could not get this much working as an assistant for any other actress She had to put up with it for the money. "Well, Jeline, the director days that it's time to do your scene now. We have to start filming now" Lena said. Her voice was shaking as she said that.

Jeline rolled her eyes. She was in a really bad mood! Does she have to do something like this? It's so very annoying! She just had to get married first! Once she gets married to Damian Blackwell then she won't have to deal with this any longer! Once she becomes the madam of the great Sorian Group then she won't have to bother with this career as an actress anymore! She only became an actress because she wanted to make something of herself, to trample on her uncle and his family.

She had an easier way to get that now. Marry the CEO of Sorian Group. Once she gets that then she won't have to worry about anything for the rest of her life. She will live a really comfortable life as the wife of Damian and she will even get the revenge that she so much wanted on her uncle. She just had to put up with this till then. "Alright, let's go" Jeline said. She already sighed the contract for the drama, she can't back out now.

Lena sighed in relief. Jeline actually agreed to go without trying to make things difficult for her. It really is a wonderful development. But there was something else bothering her. She did not know if she should tell Jeline about it or not. She was sure that Jeline was going to be really angry once she finds out that that person is here. The both of them never really got along well in the past and now they are going to have to work on a new drama today, it definitely won't sit well with Jeline.

And besides, Lena knew that that woman had done it on purpose. The cast for this new drama had already been decided and the second lead actress was a new girl who just got into the entertainment industry. But all of a sudden, it was changed. She became a second lead all of a sudden. She definitely did it on purpose. To annoy Jeline. Should she tell her about it? If she told Jeline then she will definitely take it out on her. No, let her find out about it herself. "Alright Jeline, let's go" Lena said.

Jeline walked out to meet the director. She had her usual sweet smile on her face. But that smile disappeared all of a sudden when she saw that woman! What on Earth is she doing here?! She already had makeup on and Jeline knew instantly that she is part of the cast. She already checked the cast before she agreed to do this drama and Sonia Hailey was definitely not a part of the cast so what is she doing in front of her right now? What useless tricks is this woman trying to pull?

She turned to look at Lena and Lena shrugged, meaning that she did not know about this. Jeline sighed. This assistant of hers is completely useless! She is no good at all! She turned back to face Sonia. She was smiling at her. Since she is trying so hard, she definitely won't lose out to Sonia! She had never lost out to her before and it won't happen now! She instantly replaced the rigid look on her face with a smile. "Sonia Hailey, I didn't know that you were part of the cast" Jeline said.

Sonia's smile grew even wider. Even though she was smiling now she had many sinister thoughts going through her head right now. She really hated this woman Jeline Anderson. She always got everything that she wanted pulling tricks. She got to where she is using all kinds of tricks but people all say that she is a really impressive independent woman! She really wanted to pull off this mask of Jeline. But she was so good that she had nothing on her at all!

When she heard that Jeline was going to be in this drama, she instantly pulled all of the strings that she had and got herself replaced as the second lead. She had not forgotten what Jeline did to her in that year, she will definitely pay her back in her own coin! "Well Miss Jeline is not the only one who can get a role in a drama whenever she wants. I saw that the second lead role was pretty good, i received an offer about it and I accepted it. What is wrong with that? Do you not want me to be here?" Sonia asked.

Jeline knew that this woman's words had a different meaning. She has always been good at playing around with words. But no matter how good she is, she definitely is still no match for her. After all, all these years had she not trampled on her so many times? She could definitely do it now and nothing would happen! She knew that Sonia has changed the second lead to get herself in because she wanted to make things difficult for her, well she definitely won't let her off easy. Since she wants to play, she will play with her!

Jeline smiled even more and looked Sonia in the eye. "Is Miss Sonia saying that she is able to get whatever role that she wants whenever she wants without going through the process? You know in order to get a role you have to have an audition. Are you saying that you don't have to do that? I know that you are really popular but it's not fair for the other people who work in the industry. What will people think of the entertainment industry?" Jeline said. She really wanted to make her angry.

Sonia was really angry now. What is this woman saying?! She is the one who keeps pulling tricks! She is the one who has no regards for others. Other people spend efforts just to get a role in dramas and she? She doesn't have to do anything and she gets roles! All she does is use her face, that bitchy face of hers! She definitely is the one doing bad things so why is she making it seem like she is the one doing bad things? She really wanted to lose her temper and yell at Jeline but a firm hand gripped her from behind.

It was her assistant Jenna. She was telling her to not lose her temper. She must not lose to Jeline. Jeline's strong point is acting innocent. She must not lose to her on that. "I really don't know what is going on here Jeline. I don't understand what you are accusing me of. Are you saying that I did something without having any proof that I did it? I, I really don't know what to do when you tell me things like this Jeline. As a really popular actress, how can you say this to me?" Sonia asked. she is not the only one who can act innocent. She can definitely do that too. Since she wants to make fun of her and make her out to be a bad person she is going to play along with her.
