Mon’Ter breathed out a small stream of flames that glided to the side of his cheeks. His long white hair covered his entire back and his arms dug deeply into the charred earth below. With a predatory gaze, he stared towards the slowly marching enemy forces.
There were dozens of shadow warriors, each in the lower ends of the noble class. Truly, they were a trifling matter, however they still posed a distraction to the beast. He’d been stabbed by nine such figures before, and those weren’t nearly as strong as these are, so he had to take them out all the same else he’d risk another similar event transpiring.
The monster knew he should act carefully, the previous damage done to him was still present in the form of exhaustion despite the moon’s healing effect which rejuvenated him to full strength. Not to mention that his body was covered in both intense muscle pain and reoccurring phantom pain. Those both came from the strain and previo
The bestial growls continued to come about from Mon’Ter’s lowered frame. He protected the unconscious Elyenora as the fingers on his newly formed left hand kept rotting and corroding under the effects of the enhanced Mordax steel. Breathes of fire still slide across his cheeks while his white hair stood on end.His eyes sharpened, glowing in the dark vision of the enemy assassin. Cazimir couldn’t completely grasp the appearance of the beast, but his senses were already on a level high enough to pick up the dangers that he faced.‘What an intimidating monster...’ Cazimir thought with a dripping brow. Cold sweat ran down the side and to his cheek, he kept thinking about how he would go about this encounter.“What’s wrong?” a sizzling voice permeated to his ears. “Are you... Scared?”Mon’Ter’s remark annoyed the assassin, but he wouldn’t allow himself to be provok
The sun raised itself over the horizon and lit up what remained of the forest canvas, blue skies loomed over, along with a fair number of clouds which still remained even after last night’s fiasco. There were some embers that still burned here and there, the fires in the woods had spread out far and wide, they’d thoroughly managed to burn a majority of the entire forest. In one of the clearings where everything had been blackened, stood a single tree which had been unaffected by the raging blaze of the night before. Its crown swayed with the morning winds and proudly showed its lively greenery.Beneath that very same tree, laid a sleeping girl. Her golden strands of hair blew along with the wind, her cherry colored lips parted to take in soft breaths, and her hand gently moved to rub her closed eyes.Elyenora awakened in the midst of the aftermath of carnage, right next to the seemingly only remaining plant that had retained its liv
Elyenora walked together with Mon’Ter around the burnt up Canvas which used to be green and flourishing with life, looking around at the damage all the while and seemingly filled with her own thoughts on the matter. She had torn her left sleeve off, as well as part of the seam on her left leg. In turn, she’d used the fabric as a bandage for her grueling wound on her stomach. It would take a long while before she could heal it after all, there was still a decent way to walk in order to reach the city, so at the very least she wanted to cover it for the moment.“We sure did do a number on this forest, huh?” Elyenora said as she walked.“Mmm...” Mon’Ter nodded, whispering a reply back. “There was no other... Way... Those guys were strong...”“Even still, it’s a shame,” Elyenora touched the bark, or what used to be the bark, of a blackened tree. Its crown had been erased completely and on
Far off and away from where Elyenora and Mon’Ter stood, deep into the mountain ranges that divided Benulis from a northern country known as the Union of Lugrum, laid a hidden structure obscured from view and removed from any map. A building that was as dark as obsidian, with no windows to peer inside and no gateway to lead within it.It had the shape of a dome, sitting beneath a giant cavern that had opened its maw wide enough to fit a small town within it. The shadows made sure that this building was imperceptible, coupled with a few magical arrays, it made for the perfect hidden base. This was the Assassins’ main branch, the HQ and guild hall of those who dwell in the dark.“Finally, we’re back,” murmured the voice of a woman, she hopped down from a flaming bird and slowly made her way towards the giant cavern in the side of the mountain.“How do we explain what happened? Lady Alinesia?” the man who rode the bir
Dusk had befallen the kingdom of Benulis. It was slowly growing colder as the night’s veil descended over the capital city. Banul. The people on the streets started making their way home and leaving behind their daily activities. Be those activities finished for the mere day or gone and done with for good, only having been needed on this sunrise till its sunset.Up above in the palace, within the throne room where prince Aydian, the soon to be king and brother of Elyenora, stood. There were a couple of disgruntled faces going about, both of servant and of master. An old man covered in robes was holding a staff to his side, supporting himself while he laid close to the ground. He was kneeling before the prince and speaking to his lord with displeasure from the news he brought.“The assassin guild has failed, sire,” the elder’s voice permeated the room, it was the old court wizard that served the prince, Gandar. The prince showed a d
The sun had long since risen to awaken both Elyenora and Mon’Ter. Or well, at least it had wakened Elyenora up. Mon’Ter had decided to forsake his sleep and instead keep watch for the night, making sure nothing out of the ordinary happens. It wasn’t to say that he wouldn’t instantly wake up and act were there something dangerous to occur either way, but it was more so to say that he didn’t wish to sleep in this moment. He much so preferred to gaze at the stars that night, and contemplate on how drastically his situation has started changing in the small amount of time he’d spent with the princess, with Elyenora. He enjoyed it immensely and it was the most enjoyable time he’d had ever since he could remember.‘All my life has been nothing but a solitude filled with me, being alone, and people fearing me... Until you came along,’ he thought as he turned his gaze to the side, looking at the girl’s sleeping form.<
Elyenora pulled Mon’Ter along with her and neared the line of people. She looked herself over in displeasure and thought, ‘Mmm, on second thought... No matter how you look at it, it’d be obvious whose coat I’m wearing, huh?’Thinking as such, she contemplated for a bit, ‘Well, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem... But what if I?’ She then suddenly came to a halt and moved her gaze towards the guard at the gate, an idea flashing in her mind.“Wait a second,” she looked back to herself. Her face contorted in displeasure again. ‘Wouldn’t work if it were me...’But then, she looked at Mon’Ter, “Hmm but you...”The princess placed a finger on her chin and looked Mon’Ter all over, this time having an obviously pleased grinning expression on her face.“Ely? What’s wrong? Did something... Happen?” Mon’Ter asked, his head turning
‘She said to buy clothes but...’ Mon’Ter thought as he found himself on the streets of Weylorn city, ‘Where do I go to buy them from?’He stood amidst a vast street with numerous people walking in all directions. The masses were blinding out his vision from the sheer amount of them. Men and women walked with a different array clothing on each of their persons, some seemed poorer than others while a few had rather expensive looking garbs. Carriages also passed through the center of the street and carried either people or goods, as for their destination, that would be quite unclear. The size of this city was immensely huge, there were too many hot spots that people move about to every day in order to simply take a wild guess for where each person would be headed.Mon’Ter walked amongst the people on his own, he’d put his coat back on and easily hid his hand both in sleeve and pocket. There was also a bandage wrapped around it for
Just as Mon’Ter was busy rotting on the inside, Samuel and Sereia were finally able to get back on their feet. Samuel could now see properly and move around, and Sereia had drunk a high grade healing potion that brought her back up to speed. “Agh… My back was killing me there…” Sereia said as she stretched, trying to get herself back into shape. “Do I even need to mention my head…?” Samuel held it, he still felt like it would start spinning again but thankfully it was over. “We really need to go and help Mon’Ter out,” Sereia mumbled out loud. “It seems like he got two of them but he’s facing that guy that my dad said was the best assassin in the world…” Still, they were a bit far away from the chimera and couldn’t assist him right away, especially since Mon’Ter’s fear came true. “It seems like we have our own troubles to deal with first…” Samuel pointed out as he gazed at the sky above them. “Huh? That guy again?” Sereia said in annoya
As Mon’Ter stood in a confrontation between himself and the three assassins, Sereia and Samuel did their best to catch their bearings and get to assisting him rather than being a burden for him. Thankfully, Samuel had some recovery potions on him, but due to his issue with coordination caused by Hendrick’s eye ability, he couldn’t move his arms in the right direction much less find where he’d stored the bottles. And as for Sereia, she actually did try to get to Samuel and find the potions for him, but, given how wounded her back really was she was having some difficulty pushing herself to stand back up and move towards his bag. Of course, this would only take her seconds to do in real time, maybe ten or twenty, but in the moments of combat those seconds would be more than enough for her and him to lose their lives at once many times over. They were dealing with assassins after all, and while these assassins were definitely slowed down from the g
Just as Elyenora was dealing with Alinesia with the help of Randus’ Gravity Zone spell, so were Sereia and Samuel working on using the spell to their advantage too. Seeing as they were able to outmaneuver their respective match ups and bring down two specters, they had now managed to get away from the other two old men who’d targeted them and made their way towards where Mon’Ter was being held down by Alinesia’s parents. That, of course, didn’t take long at all with the help of Samuel’s teleportation magic.Sereia quickly landed right over the female assassin with super long nails, Allison, while Samuel waltzed right into her husband, Hendrick, and swung straight at his arms that were holding Mon’Ter’s head up close to his eye level. On Sereia’s end, things were quickly and easily dispatched. Having had the jump on the opponent she was able to instantly get Allison to dodge her first blow and leave Mon’
With Alinesia’s light blinding everyone, Randus was able to easily move about by practicing a simple spell to allow his eyes to perceive past the blinding shine of her. He had basically created pseudo shades on his face which he used to escape from Lerroy’s immediate reach.During the course of the battle so far, the two of them had been flying high up in the air and blasting each other with all manner of magical spells, it had gotten to the point that most of the soldiers down below were getting nervous just by standing underneath them. However, Randus hadn’t just been mindlessly flying about and chucking explosions at his old master, no, of course not, he wouldn’t be where he is at today if he did something so basic. The whole time they were moving around the air space, Randus had been leaving small sigils in specific locations high above the ground and laying out a layer filled circle of magic large enough to encompass most of the existing su
Alinesia had completed her transformation, however, she wasn’t the only one making moves during that last minute of action. There were still many people on the battlefield, and the ones who made the biggest change aside from her, were definitely Randus, Samuel and Sereia who all made good use of the previous minute or so of time.On their side of the field, just as Elyenora and Alinesia were having their clash of wills, Samuel and Sereia both found themselves pushing against their respective spectral opponents. It had gotten to the point where they were chasing after these Low ranking Arch Lord Class entities as if they were hunting rabbits. It was at this time that both Gandar, the court mage of the Royal palace and the elderly master of the assassin’s guild intervened on their little chase. Gandar shot through the sky atop a conjuration of wind and flew near enough to be within his range of Samuel, he weaved his staff and made a spiraling motion with it b
Back to the princess’ side of the field, where she was facing off against a previous foe. Elyenora could feel that things weren’t going her way at all, she knew it in her heart with every strike she sent towards Alinesia and every second she wasted on fighting against her. But what could she do while everyone was being held back like this? There was one and only thing she could really do to try and help out.Ending the fight swiftly.Alinesia had certainly grown significantly since their last fight, she was more than the princess’ match even after Elyenora had gotten her significant growth spurt after releasing the spiritual cultivation shard from her body. However, it didn’t seem like the Lioness would be able to keep up with Elyenora if she just made a simple action and unleashed her newly acquired artifacts.“I’m sorry, but I’ll be ending our little rematch early,” the princess said as she pushed back on the fla
Cazimir fell, cut in half and in a completely stupefied state. Someone meant to have been on his side, an ally, had just taken him down. His bloodied eyes shone with a bright light and created shadow soldiers that tried to hold him back together, barely, even as his own blood and organs left his body to splatter down on the ground. “W–wh–y…?” Cazimir asked as only one of his eyes barely managed to move and look at Finn. “Because you interfered where it was not your place, stupid assassin,” Finn said, his eyes wider than an open door and staring the vampire down with intense pressure behind his every word. “Couldn’t you follow simple instructions? I told you. Don’t interfere with my fight. Leonidas is mine to do battle with.” “Bast–ard…” Cazimir barely mumbled out, and with another glow of his eyes he forced the soldiers to move him about ten meters away from the now enemy. With yet another glow, he summoned out a potion that fell from a litt
Alinesia glared at Elyenora with her fiery blade burning at her side. “It’s sure been a while, hasn’t it?”“You again?!” Elyenora clicked her tongue, she had been forced to stop right in her tracks by her once again, for the second time. “Why are you here!?”“Why?” Alinesia grit her teeth. “Did you seriously ask me why, you blond bimbo?!”“What?” The princess felt a little taken aback by the assassin’s words. “Don’t you understand what you’re working towards right now? Do you even know what my brother is trying to do!? It’s all foolish! Why would you work for him? You’re smarter than that!” Elyenora tried to change her mind if she could, though, it didn’t seem like Alinesia was here for money or anything of the sort by the look on her face.“You think I’m here just because that prince twat brother of yours asked t
“We kill all of them to get to him,” Mon’Ter’s voice reverberated throughout the entire space, being heard by everyone that surrounder him and his comrades. It caused several laughs to erupt, which then continued into multiple more and more until the entire enemy legion made a laughing stock out of Mon’Ter’s words.“Bold words from someone bound to die,” Gandar, the royal court mage, snickered at his words. “Who even are you, boy? Another knight? Not with that get up you’re not. Perhaps a mage? Shall I teach you some proper manners in speech?”“I’d actually like that,” Mon’Ter said truthfully. “But it’s not the time to be learning manners.”His hand extended and his fingers grew as his nails elongated into sharp swords capable of piercing the thickest of hides and slashing the hardest of steels. The strange development caused many to put their guard
