Chapter Eight

Melissa's parents dressed up quickly to go check up on the arrested lady who was said to be their daughter. "I can't breath so well Gabriel, I can't believe this, she's been in jail for a while now." Paula's voice cracked and her hand shook as she reached for her phone on the couch.

"Well we better hurry, let's find out if she's truly not Melissa as she claims."

"But honey..." The words couldn't come out, they were worried not only about their daughter being arrested, they knew that if the arrested person wasn't Melissa their daughter, they'll definitely have to trace things back to the day Melissa was born.

"Honey I don't like what's going on in my head right now, I don't want to keep thinking about it." She said trying to control her body from the shivers.

"I know, I can't believe this. If that girl is not Melissa, then the doctor lied to us!"

"The doctor told us that one of the twins died!"

"Now I think he lied to us!"

"Oh shit!"

Yes, Paula got married to Gabriel many years ago, they were young, still in love and crazy about each other as they travelled around the world to keep a lot of awesome memories. And with their first attempt to make babies, Paula got pregnant with twins. They'd made plans to be the best parents in the world and love their two lovely children with all their heart. "I'll kill anyone who messes with you or any of my twins, I love you Paula." Gabriel would always assure her, making her confident of his love and care for her. "Oh Gabriel, you're the man I want to spend the rest of my life with. I want you to hold my hand forever as we watch our kids grow up into two powerful women."

They had plans and dreams about how to live and where to live, but everything changed on the day Paula gave birth to their babies.

"There's good news and bad news!" The doctor said to Gabriel who stood in the walkway waiting anxiously. It was their first attempt, first experience and first disappointment when the doctor calmly said "I'm sorry, one of the babies couldn't make it!"

But right now, every single truth was staring them right in the face! The doctor lied to them about their babies, two of them survived but one was sold out to a couple who was looking for a child since their fruitless marriage. That girl who was raised by a couple who wasn't her biological parents was named Amanda and she was the one arrested but the police didn't know she was Melissa's twin sister, they thought it was Melissa who was pretending to be someone else.

Anderson stood at the same spot he saw Melissa the other night and waited patiently hoping to see her pass by. He found himself thinking about this strange lady every single night and he wanted to see her again in daylight. "Not so sure if I'm alright this time." He said to himself after thinking about the fact that he might be going crazy about someone he only saw once, someone he didn't even see her face. "But from her body, she looks just like my lover who left the city a long time ago." He pretended to be talking to someone, he was so happy and in the mood to see her because he was sure he had no job or assignment to carry on. The last job he was given by his boss was to find Melissa and report her to the police but according to the news, she was already arrested, so he was free and it was time to get to know this new good looking germ.

"Oh my... I can't believe she's coming." Anderson whispered to the sight of Melissa from a distance. He leaned close to the entrance of the hotel and watched her calmly as her hips moved gently from side to side while she walked. It was just perfect to see but as she got closer, he wasn't sure he could speak anymore. He managed to glance at that pretty face in the jacket hood and he realised that her beauty made him scared. He still couldn't tell if the face was the same as the one he'd seen over the news.

"Hi Cara..." His smile was almost as bright as the day and it was impossible to ignore.

"Anderson," she smiled back despite all the problems and negative happenings in her life.

"You remember my name, wow that's awesome."

"Of course I do, it's an easy name to remember."

"Oh... That just made me feel special. So uhm... Are you having a great day?" He hoped he didn't sound like all the other guys who might be trying to get her attention too.

"Yeah, day's cool, I'm cool, all good." She opened the door to the reception room and started walking up the stairs while hoping Anderson turns back as soon as she reaches her door.

"So I was uhm..." He wasn't so sure if he should say and at the same time he knew it might be a one time opportunity before she opens her door to go in.

"So I have been wondering if you want to go out and have a drink."

"With you?"

"Yeah, have a drink with me. I'd really like to know you better."

"Anderson, I'll think about it." She said after opening the door to her room. Then she went in quietly.

She always had it in mind and always reminded herself "It's no time to fall in love with anyone or anything." There was too much going on in her life already and she knew she had to call her parents. She'd been unreachable since leaving home but now she knew that the only people in the world who had the answer to her question about having a twin sister were her very own parents. "I have to speak to them, I have to speak to mum and dad!"

Paula and Gabriel sat nervously as Amanda was being escorted to their table in handcuffs, it was already 3 weeks since she was thrown in jail paying for the sins of someone else. She was told "Your parents are here to see you," before she was being led out, and because she was confused about everything that's been going on, she wanted to know who those so-called parents actually are.

"Hi." Paula said, trying to force a smile immediately Amanda took a seat at the table facing her directly.

"We know you didn't kill anyone, and we know you're not Melissa." Gabriel jumped straight to the point and Amanda's curious face could be seen just after that.

"You are the first people on earth to believe I'm not the murderer." She was happy and she found hope in knowing that a set of people finally knew the truth.

"We are Melissa's parents and with everything that's happened, you can tell that Melissa is your twin sister."

Amanda's head went down and her eyes locked on the floor as tears rolled down her beautiful innocent eyes, it was just like Melissa sitting in front of them.

"We know you're in a tight situation and we want to help you. But first, we need to know who raised you."
