Money For Loyalty

Chapter Three

The weather was cold but the breeze in the Ethan house was completely different, it was freezing and the morning was the worst one in the married life of Mc and Melissa. They've had a lot of misunderstandings and arguments about a thousand things, they never thought a morning will begin with Melissa slowly folding her clothes neatly in her bag to leave her marriage and head back to her fathers home.

The environment was so quiet that one could hear the thoughts from both minds in the room. "I won't regret leaving you anyway," a quick thought flew through Mellisa's mind and she almost said it out loud because she really wanted to leave that house making it clear that she always had plans to vanish and not just because she was caught cheating.

"You really hurt me, Mellisa." His calm voice could melt a block of regrets but she tried to maintain her harsh approach, it was all she could do to avoid bringing up that soft face of hers and letting those tears of shame fall down from her eyes.

"I already wanted to leave you!"

"Then you should've done it in a respectful way."

"Tell me, who wouldn't want to leave a man like you? Mc you are a man who can't handle responsibilities. You offer nothing."

"You know things have been hard for me and I've gone through hell to make sure I stand up for the bills. And through all of these, you refuse to hold my hand, you refuse to love me and care for us, but you do all these with a lover outside our marriage." The tears finally fell down and he quickly cleaned it with the back of his hand and turned the other way. It was painful every single time he looked at her, 3 years of marriage and this beautiful lady would always find ways to avoid sleeping in the same bed as her husband but she was all over another man who never worked for her in any way.

"I'm sorry that I'm not sorry Mc, you didn't do enough to make me love you. Be good to yourself." She approached the door, turned back to look at the disappointed young  man then walked out the door.

"You never should have let him catch you in such an act, now he is the hero and we take the shame!" Paula immediately said to the sight of her daughter walking through the door with her bags in hand.

"Calm down lady, she only just came home, give her a moment." Gabriel walked to his daughter and helped her with the bags in hand, "I'll keep these in your room for you honey." He walked slowly with the luggages to Melissa's room and he could hear his wife still speaking to their daughter who just returned from a failed marriage.

"You just ruined our name, you ruined everything I've taught you." Paula's voice went up again.

"Mum, I don't know how he found out about me and my secret lover, he just walked straight into the room and caught us together!"

"And you still have the confidence to say that?" Her father's voice came angrily as he returned to the living room. 

"I'm sorry dad," she really was sorry, and her face could say it all.

"You never should've been in another man's bed! We all didn't support your marriage to Mc, but a divorce was necessary before you started opening your legs for men who you don't even know who they're sleeping with right now as we speak!" Gabriel's forehead squeezed.

"Dad, my lover's a good man and he loves me truly, he'll never sleep with anyone else, it's only me."

"That's what he's made you believe? Wake up daughter!" He angrily walked to his room and slammed the door behind him making Melissa burst into tears.

She looked at her mum with those watery eyes, "I can't believe both of you are so angry with me that you can't hide it."

"You fumbled my dear daughter. I made your favourite dish, you can get some when you feel good. I'll be in the room." Paula also walked away slowly into the room.

The big living room was full of shame and thoughts of what to do next. How was she going to get back the trust of her parents? They've never liked Mc, but they didn't raise a cheat and never expected her to be in an affair while married.

She stood up and found herself walking around the room aimlessly before a beep from her phone caught her attention. She went to check and it was a message from Jeremy.

"Hey Melissa, how are you doing today? I haven't been feeling so good lately, my balls got swollen and it hurts when I piss so I went to see the doctor and it turns out I have chlamydia. I think you should go check yourself too, safe."

Drinks on the table in Michael's house and Mc was halfway drunk after regular warnings from his best friend not to take another drink." it's just one more, one more drink and I'm done." Mc always said after finishing each bottle. He was still trying to get over Melissa cheating on him after spending the past three years of his life doing nothing else but loving her.

"Hey bro take it easy on yourself," Michael took the bottle of alcoholic drink in Mc's hand and placed it carefully on the floor.

"You know what hurts the most? I kept trying and I kept thinking that one day, she will see all my efforts!"

"I should let you know something."

"What's that?"

"It's about Jeremy, the guy your wife was cheating on you with."

"What about him?" 

"My spy gave me new information, the chef at Jeremy's house sent a video to me 3 days ago." 

"Tell me more!" He was eager to know where this was heading. 

"It turns out that Jeremy's been sleeping with Melissa's mum too. She is his sugar mum!" 

The shock was electric! Mc couldn't believe it and the salt-rimmed glass in his hand fell on the floor and broke to pieces. "Are you sure about what you are saying?" That's all he could ask with his eyes widely opened. 

"Yeah bro. Jeremy's a playboy! He's sleeping with Melissa and Melissa's mum at the same time. I went deeper and the chef finally let me know that he suspects his boss has chlamydia."

"Oh my God!" 

"Yeah man, so if Jeremy does have chlamydia, just guess what's up?" 

"Chaos!" 

"Exactly! It means, Jeremy got the infection, Mellisa got it, her mother got it and who knows, she's given it to her husband who's Melissa's dad!" 

"I've never slept with her." 

"I know, and you're safe. Now let's fold our hands to see how the chlamydia attack unfolds its wings on Mellisa's family."
