Chapter 141

"You taught them quite the lesson." General Watson remarked as he entertained Richard in his private quarters.

The party to celebrate his inauguration as the new Commissioner of Police was already done with guests heading back home with the image of Richard Smith dominating in all manner etched in their minds.

Meanwhile, Doreen and Murphy had left early perhaps as a result of the lesson they'd learned at Richard's hands.

Richard didn't immediately respond, instead watching as a butler poured out wine from him, the General, and the old man that Watson referred to as Sage.

Once the butler was done and had excused himself, Richard began. "I was only ensuring that they do not think that because their father is great, they are great as well."

"Is that so?... If I did not know something about men like you, I'd think you were using it as a means to undermine my authority." General Watson said with a chuckle.

Richard grinned. "Perhaps. In any case, may I ask why you invited me here, General."
