Getting out of the cab which stopped them at the beginning of the street leading to the hotel because taxis weren't allowed close to the building as a result of how high class it was, Richard promptly paid the driver before heading down the street with Melinda.

Taking the opportunity to savor the solace the lonely street brought them, Melinda inquired while holding hands with Richard. “Do you think I'm rushing things?”

“Hmm?”

“With, you know, everything.”

Richard paused, unsure of how to respond before finally breaking the silence. “Honestly, no.”

“Why do you say so?”

“Because if you let me, I'd rather be alone till I die. That's how scared I am of commitment after…” he trailed off unwilling to finish the sentence though Melinda caught the gist.

Leaning in, she planted a kiss on his cheek as she remarked. “Don't worry, nothing of that sort will ever happen again.”

Richard glanced at her and seeing the honesty in her eyes, nodded in response. “I trust you.”

With that, the two fell back
