Chapter 4

Richard had been insulted several times today and even more so in the past, so naturally what the guard said didn't offend him that much.

Looking down at his clothes, he quickly realized that he was indeed quite dirty.

If he saw himself, he'd think he were a tramp.

Letting out a sigh, he decided to get some new clothes before coming back.

Just as he turned to leave, the guard reached out and grabbed his shoulder, preventing him from taking another step.

Frowning yet again, Richard turned to face the other party.

Judging from the strength the guard applied, it was clear he wanted to hurt him, unfortunately, Richard was a trained athlete and his body was durable enough to withstand the force.

He casually batted away the guard's arm before sizing him up. "Is there a problem?"

"You think you can just come here and go as you please after making a scene?... What do you think we are... Fools?... I bet you want to go round back to sneak into the premises."

"What?" Richard was flabbergasted at the guard's incredulous words.

The guard snorted. "Don't think I don't know your game, man. You better come with me else I'd have to use force on you."

"Are you being serious right now?" Richard raised a brow in vague annoyance.

Ignoring his words, the guard reached out to grab him and just as Richard tried to step away, the other guard moved to apprehend him.

Richard was unable to struggle and so the guards ended up relieving him of the money bag he was with.

Opening the bag, the guards turned wide-eyed.

"So much money." One muttered.

The other quickly followed. "Hah, I told you this bastard was a thief. Take him into custody."

Soon enough, Richard was prevented from leaving and was even dragged aside to be kept until the cops arrived to take him.

Richard was perplexed as he sat in the guard room.

Due to having gotten so much money, he didn't think that carrying so much cash could lead to such situations.

Of course, he couldn't deny that the guards were crazy fuckers, he had to agree that he was too hasty.

Shaking his head, he pondered the best way to get out of the situation and also to get his money back when suddenly, the black flip phone rang.

He picked it up and checked to find that a new message had been entered.

[It's a stain on a billionaire's honor to be treated like a common man. Would you like to get out of your predicament?]

Richard had already accepted that the phone was not normal so he didn't question how it knew his situation.

Instead, he replied. [Yes]

[Congratulations for being firm. The system shall provide what you need]

Moments later, the screen light died down after which a call connected.

Richard was shocked for a moment and even more so since the number was private.

Taking a moment to regain his composure, he picked up the call.

"Hello."

"Is this Richard Smith?"

"...Yes."

"Congratulations, you won the bid. You are currently the owner of Serenity Hotels group."

"Sorry, what?"

Before Richard could understand what was happening, the call was disconnected and he was left… further confused.

Then a series of messages arrived. [User has purchased 40% of shares owned by Serenity. Congratulations!]

[User has unlocked Silver tongue Lvl.1]

[Current Balance: 300,000,000]

[Endeavor to complete tasks to further upgrade your level. Good luck!]

Just like last time, Richard felt something change within him but that wasn't what was shocking.

Instead, it was the remaining balance he had.

More than 600 million gone?... Just what happened?

Before he could figure things out, the door to the guard room flung open and the guards rushed in and grabbed him.

He was taken outside where a police car was already waiting for him.

"Here you go, guys. The smelly thief." The guard said with a look of triumph.

Richard scowled. "Where's my money?"

"Tch, I've already returned it to where you stole it from." The guard replied with a righteous tone.

Richard knew that was a blatant lie and most likely, he'd take it for himself but in his current state, fighting could lead to unsavory consequences.

Just then, a convoy drove into the hotel premises and bodyguards in black suits came down followed by a white-haired man in a silver suit.

"What's going on here?" The silver-suited man asked as he walked over.

The guards holding Richard quickly let go and bowed in reverence. "Good evening sir Roland."

The man… no, Roland had considerable status.

Roland ignored their greetings as he remarked. "I asked a question."

The guards shook, frightened at the man's domineering presence.

Seeing this, one of the policemen replied. "We got a call that there was a thief. So we came to check it out."

"I see." Roland sized up Richard briefly, his expression filled with disgust.

Richard remained silent, his gaze trained on Roland's own.

"Tch, pathetic," Roland muttered before casually adding. "Alright, good job. Take him away."

With that, Roland turned the guards again.

"Have you seen any cars come in here?"

"Car?...no sir." The guards replied.

Roland frowned. "None?"

"Sir, are you expecting someone?" One of the guards dared to be presumptuous.

Surprisingly, Roland didn't seem to mind as he replied, rather excitedly. "Of course. Serenity just changed owners and we have to greet them as soon as possible."

"Congratulations sir." The guards clearly didn't understand but still chose to buttress Roland, an act the latter enjoyed.

"Hah, we have to reach out to the owner before the other shareholders so we can build a cordial relationship," Roland muttered as he gestured for one of his bodyguards to get his cell phone.

Quickly dialing a number, he placed the phone to his ear.

Immediately, it rang and at the same time, the black flip phone rang as well.

Richard casually picked up the phone and once he placed it on his ear, he intoned softly. "Hello?"
